This version is amazing, but you MUST to hear the London version she did (link below) a month after this one. Believe it or not, it is even more intense, dramatic and operatic than this one. It is downright scary. Male tenors like Pavorotti would BOW in submission to it. But neither one of these two ladies can come close to what Whitney did on this one song... When I first heard Jennifer Hudson sing the song I thought it was absolutely incredible, and then I listen to Jennifer Holliday singing the song and I thought that no one can match that. And the fact that it's connected and still resonant at this extremes says a lot about her exceptional belting technique. C5 to D5 tops is where belting maxes out because most ppl cannot belt above this area naturally. Belting is at home in the(upper 3rd octave for men with lower voices) 4th and lower fifth octave. After D5, a blended balanced mix is needed to go higher without pure head voice. This woman somehow knew how to get up there in belting. Don't know how but she did it.😮

But neither one of these two ladies can come close to what Whitney did on this one song... When I first heard Jennifer Hudson sing the song I thought it was absolutely incredible, and then I listen to Jennifer Holliday singing the song and I thought that no one can match that. Then the tsunami that was Whitney Houston slayed this song beyond all comprehension and let me tell you this, if the three of them were competing for the part of Effie, Whitney Houston would have won this hands down. This is the best version of the song that I have ever heard and I will likely never hear another female Touch This. SAY IT! Mariah easily has the better overall catalogue of songs (which she actually wrote, unlike Whitney) BUT my GOD did Whitney have a much fuller, richer voice voice with superhuman stamina and power. How on earth did she manage to do what she did to this song...in a LIVE capacity at that? It's unreal. I dare and challenge anyone to find a live vocal performance that matches this. This was nothing short of .....idk Amazing isn't even strong enough to describe this performance! She IS incredible, This performance is a testament of her unique talent & dynamic vocal abilities; her emotional & passionate delivery of a song are still unmatched today! Whitney was quite a rare find; I believe even w/o Clive Davis' help, that voice would have lifted her to the world's stage somehow, someway! And the fact that it's connected and still resonant at this extremes says a lot about her exceptional belting technique.
C5 to D5 tops is where belting maxes out because most ppl cannot belt above this area naturally. Belting is at home in the(upper 3rd octave for men with lower voices) 4th and lower fifth octave. After D5, a blended balanced mix is needed to go higher without pure head voice.
This woman somehow knew how to get up there in belting. Don't know how but she did it.😮
l have been singing over forty years singing church music her upper register is like a first soprano and and reaching back down to an alto range takes skill boo boo.😉I LOVE Whitney so so much.

The breath control/stamina, cadence, clarity, dynamics, POWER and TONE in this performance (displayed for an entire 10 mins) are unfathomable. Mariah at her absolute best could never top this performance.

What is your reasoning? Don’t have one? What I thought.🥰 For one, most of her runs are so sloppy, not on key at all. She tried to do as many notes as fast as possible which only sounded good to tone deaf people(like you),her belts above D5 are pushy and tight sounding, ZERO lower register, it hurts to hear her even try to go below a G3, I can go on, but apparently “its not even fucking close” just say you just don’t know anyone else
