  • This Front-wing is amazing! I wasn't quite shure if it would work with my weight of 85 kg but luckily it works when you're going fast enough. Next time I'm going to use a longer mast tho as there is not so much room for error with breaching and touchdowns and I guess a 80 cm Mast will do a better Job.
    Really Impressive was how fast it goes. It's really "pitch sensitive" and has much less drag compared to the Rise XXL that I'm used to.
    Now I definitely understand the Hipe about the Curve XLT...
    Even Though, Without the perfect dock I would never get it going :D
    In summary: I want one.
    Thanks to Emil who made the Test possible :)
    Setup:
    Selfmade pocket Foil Board
    65 cm Mast
    Curve Pro XLT

    Great job! I’m inspired to try and dock start my Veloce XXL mounted to my Grove Skate kite foil board. I tried it once with my Veloce XL but didn’t come close. I’m 78 kg. I think my biggest disadvantage is being older. When I was 35 years old, I was much more agile!🤣

      Im 22 so thats a benefit haha. I would really like to try the Veloce XXL for pumping some day to. might be way more difficult to start it but should therefore be way more efficient :D

      @@leo-stief Well 62 here so only a minor 40 year difference🤣. My Veloce XXL pumps really easy when I’m wing foiling, but I know that translating to a dock start is not trivial at all. Luckily my dock is right behind my house so I have lots of opportunity to practice…….

      @@targadave *only a minor 40 years 😂😂😂 Thats Inspiration! Its so good to see people your age in this sport 😍 Foiling is straight up good for everyone :D The Dock start can be quite a pain in the ass specially on faster Foils but its still worth it.. You're lucky to have a private Dock around, my local dock is so crowded with swimmers right now that I cant even properly start.... You have to make a Video about trying to Dockstart the Veloce XXL I'm really curious about it :) Best Greeting from Berlin

    Hi Leo

    Lohnt sich der kauf eines XLT Curve oder sollte ich besser gleich in etwas neueres investieren? Danke für deine Meinung, Gruss Jan

      Moin Jan, Ich würde dir direkt etwas wirklich effizienteres empfehlen! Hey Leo, Great channel!
    I'm same height and weight as you, and can kite foil.
    Do you think the veloce XL is dock start material? Less drag and needs more speed.
    Doable or frustrating due to the size and shape?
    Can you wing on your XLT Curve?
    Ells

    • @leo-stief
      @leo-stief  2 года назад

      Hey Ells, thanks! : ) I haven't tried the Veloce yet so I can't give you a clear answer, unfortunately. But the smaller Wings tend to be really frustrating when learning the dock start. Especially if you don't have a proper Dock/ are heavy. So I would not suggest starting on a rather small & speedy Foil like the veloce. However I haven't tried it yet...
      Best Regards, Leo

    Hi Leo. I have been winging for about 12 sessions. I switched to Gong equipment recently. I bought the Neutra 5 and ordered the Plus 6. I just ordered their foils too. I am the same weight as you (190 poiunds) 85 kilo's. I went with the XL. It shoud arrive on Friday. So I have been winging with Neil Pryde set up. HP wings (19 & 22)-- 19 is 1850 and the 22 is about 2300. My mast is 75 cm so I wanted to go larger. I literally got the full 85cm carbon mast, XL front wing, Rear Stab & Fuselage for the same amount just a mast would have cost me. Wondering what your thoughts on me getting the XL T next? Did you look at other front wings from Gong?
    Thanks
    Steve

    • @leo-stief
      @leo-stief  2 года назад

      Hey Stephen,
      good choice! It's Incredibly how much money you can safe by buying gong instead of other brands :D If you already have the curve xl I wouldn't suggest you to get the curve xlt too. They are in a quite similar region of sice, feel and so on. Getting a Fluid XXLT could spice it up for example as it goes faster and glides longer... I'm really excited for the new Fluid H and Veloce H line however they'll be way more difficult to ride than the T and S Models. If you have specific questions you can contact me via info@foil-club.de I'll answer them :)
      Best regards, Leo

    Did you try the Fluid XXL yet? Do you know how much more difficult it will be to dockstart than with your Curve XLT?
    Because I am thinking about switching from the X-Over to the Fluid and skipping the Curve XLT

    • @leo-stief
      @leo-stief  2 года назад +1

      Very good question! I havent tried it yet sadly. But regarding the size of the Fluid XLT with 1550 sqcm and 1,6 cm thicks, compared to the Curve XLT with 2100 sqm and 2,7 cm thick, I think it will be way more complicated to dockstart it. (1/4 less Area and more than 1/3 thinner should make quite a difference..) I'm considering getting the Fluid XXLT because I think it should be easier to start 1950 sqcm than 1550. Still, I haven tried it it out so It might be perfectly possible. There should also be some even more High Aspect Wings coming out soon so I'm pretty exited about those ones too.

    • @FoilingPastor

      @@leo-stief some say that the Fluid XXLT will be a bit more difficult to handle than the Fluid XXL, so I don't know which will be better for dockstarting

    • @leo-stief
      @leo-stief  2 года назад +1

      @@FoilingPastor I think I would prefer the XXLT as its a bit more High Aspect (5,5.. vs. 5.6..) and 0,3 cm thinner than the XXL. (Even Though the XXL is 100sqcm smaller) Sadly there are not enough other people on RUclips sharing their experiences, I want to see how others use it before I buy one :D

    Hi Leo nice vidéos! Question for you please:on the gong range, for a beginner a lot of people recommend skiping the Rise and gong straight to the xover or the curve on every foil sport (but with différent size depending on the sport). Do you agree?

    • @leo-stief
      @leo-stief  2 года назад +1

      Thanks man! In Pumpfoiling & particularly Dockstarts I think you will have an easier time starting with the Rise as its super forgiving and has an extrem low stalling speed. In all the other Foil Sports I would skip it. Unfortunately I haven't testet the X-Over until now so I cant say anything about it. So in summary: It depends. Still, sooner or later you'll exchange the rise to something faster...

      Habe heute mein XLT bestellt :D Ich würde ehr einen größeren nehmen und werde meinen in Zukunft mit dem 80 cm Mast fahren.. Der Alu Mast ist auf jeden Falls wackliger aber ich finde das nicht störend. Wenn man mal in einer Welle schneller wird mit dem Rise XXL wird der 80cm mast schon recht instabil, aber mit dem Rise M & 80 cm Mast merke ich davon nichts egal wie schnell ich bin. Lange Rede Kurzer Sinn: Carbon ist halt teurer und für das was ich mache reicht der Alumast allemal :)
