Hi. Im 85kg. I have bought 5.0 board Alvator Xover 90cm XL with 65 mast and i cant pump. Is my setup problem.? Should i change the setup with 85 mast and XXL? Or the board? Whats your opinion?
Hi Meriç, thank you for your message. May I ask how often you have already tried? How many sessions you had? They say that you need between 300-1000 tries to learn pumpfoiling. So sometimes you just need to try more. The 85cm mast won`t make pumpfoiling easier, it makes it a bit more unstable. Only if you learn to pumpfoil in windy or choppy water, the 85cm would be much better. Even though the best size would be 75. I learned with 85, but also tried with 65 which works as well. I also learned with the X-Over in XL, but I am 20kg lighter than you. I am not sure, if it is physically impossible to dockstart the XL with your weight, I don`t now, but you can always ask the technical support at Gong Galaxy. The XXL would make it a bit easier to learn, but learning to pumpfoil still takes time. All in all, I wish you all the best and enough patience to figure it out. If you have more questions, feel free to ask.
Hi @FoilingPastor, I'm about 95kg, do you think I'll be able to pump on the x-over XXL surf foils? I feel like these foils might have too much drag, and pumping these x-over range might be impossible, but I have not tried them. I feel like the wings might be too thick/wide... Also, @mericxs what did you go for in the end?
@@CS-eh8eo you will be able to pump for sure. The question will be more how long will you be satisfied with it. The Sirus is really the best wing from gong for pumping, but it might take a little while to get there depending on your technique.
@@CS-eh8eo yes, that’s possible. I have a friend who’s fuselage broke twice with the Sirus XXL. So that’s why Gong recommends getting the titanium fuse. Mine didn’t break yet, but I am scared it will one day. Unfortunately, the titanium is sold out right now!
sorry, most of my viewers are German-Speaking. But in case, you want to know something, you can always ask me directly and I think after some days there should be some automatic subtitles from RUclips
@@FoilingPastor automatic sub doesnt work well =( i think you test are interesting for other language. you will greatly benefit from hardcoded subtitles. I have the curve xlt and planning to maybe get the fluid xxlt , i think the curve doesnt have enough glide when you stop pumping. I really need a good compromise between glide and pumping. I heard veloce xlt is good too , did you tried this one ? what do you think about my choice above ?
@@youdigsurf Sorry to hear that automatic sub doesn`t work well. I don`t really know how to implement real subs. Concerning the Fluid XXLT. I really struggled with this one. After four sessions I am able to go straight with it, but not much more. I am not sure if the Fluid is that great. I will need some more time to evaluate this. Switching from the Rise to the Curve was easy, switching from Curve to Fluid really difficult. Yohann Roussel is able to pump with the Veloce, but I think it will be technically very hard. I am also looking for the perfect compromise between glide and pump, but I am not sure whether the Veloce is the right one. The problem with the Fluid or Veloce, I think is that they stall when going slow. Gong designs the Fluid and Veloce to go fast, but they don`t work going slow. Other factors therefore produce Foils especially for Pumpfoiling like Axis. Shims could maybe solve this for Gong Foils, but so far I don`t know that you can use shims with Gong. Sorry for writing so much. I hope it helps.
@@FoilingPastor hehe yoahn roussel recommanded me the fluid xxlt considering what i want, but i might keep the xlt in case it's not what i expected especialy for dockstart. Keep in mind i asked him for more free flight time in wing foiling which mean using the power of the wing to get speed and holding the wing in one hand and gliding on any bump, wave. Btw you seem to glide better than the me with the curve xlt ( weight of the board might help )compared to me when im winging and the wind it's not enough to keep me in flight. I try to find the best foil that will work for surf foil , wing foil and dockstart . I checked the axis foil png but they have a huge wingspan, i think the bigger the wingspan the more risk of accident for me of for the wing but i might be wrong. Another brand that seem pretty good for foil shape and price is sroka you should check their "high aspect 1190 lift" ,there another small one men brand called aeromod that make sick foil too for a very reasonable price. ps: for sub there two way to do it, you can do it like me on my videos ,on my video editing software im using a two line object writing in french and in english ( hardcoded on the video) , or you can do it directly on youtube studio Dynamicly but i find this tedious .
@@youdigsurf I would definitely keep the Curve XLT. I think it is a better option concerning more difficult starts like deadstart or a ladderstart. I guess the Fluid could be a good compromise for surfing, pumping and winging and I wouldn`t take the AXIS PNG for wingfoiling. Concerning the Sroka sounds interesting, but I already invested too much money into Gong, so I will stick to it and change my whole system.
Danke für den Vergleich
Sehr gerne. Mittlerweile ist das Video schon etwas alt. Ich kann dir den Sirus empfehlen, der stellt alles bisherige in den Schatten.
