I remember this omg I was in elementary school I was like 7 and the tornado actually came into my neighborhood it sounded like a train and I remember our back door patio shaking and me and my family ran in the bathroom and then my grandma started praying and it missed us. My mom was actually at work during the game that and came home early because of the weather. The georgia dome (which is no longer there and replaced by the Mercedes Benz stadium) was messed up real bad my mom was out of work for almost a month until they fixed the damages. And the loft building was never fixed it still stands to this day and u can see the damages all furniture was gone but this building is still standing but abandoned I've seen it pretty often traveling through Atlanta.

I wonder if anyone has footage of the F4 tornado that went through Kennesaw in 1992. I've been reading about that nasty tornado outbreak and find myself amazed that no one was killed by such a destructive and violent tornado.

@@seaboardspastic It was part of a rare November tornado outbreak in 1992 across the southeast. The one that hit Kennesaw touched down near Powder Springs around 11 AM and did some odd brief NW move to then head through Kennesaw and up towards Woodstock. Another tornado that was almost Georgia's first F5 destroyed some small towns near Lake Oconee that same day.

People are confusing this footage with the infamous EF2 tornado that struck downtown Atlanta the previous night. You can clearly hear them discussing the damage from that tornado while they're trying to track whatever this was. Just for reference, the EF2 tornado that struck downtown Atlanta happened near 10 pm and this footage is obviously during the day, further evidenced by the associated warning at the bottom of the screen expiring at 4:15 pm. This doesn't look like a tornado...more like a big rain shaft. I didn't see definite rotation, didn't see debris, didn't see the power flashes that normally come from a twister that big going through an urban area and hitting transformers, etc.....not a whole lotta lightning, either. I think Glen got a little overexcited here.

I was at a bar in midtown Atlanta when that hit. The patio doors blew open and the power went out. It started flooding in the bar as water from the storm was blowing off the large patio into the bar. When they finally did let us back into downtown where I worked we had to leave again as windows damaged during the tornado would fall out in broad daylight because of the winds. You would be waking around and you would feel something hit your head and it would be a piece of glass. There were scaffold covered sidewalks with plywood on top for months after that. Skyscrapers had wood covered windows for weeks and months.

So the sirens woke me up and thats when i realized its a tornado siren i looked outside i saw the funnel forming so i went downstairs to see if anyone was up so we can get to shelter but i was the only one awake. I rushed back up to my room looked outside again it was a full tornado in front of my eyes. I went under my covers and prayed then the sirens cut off. Lady Au-tumn Ra that’s all well and good; but THAT PARTICULAR PART OF THE STORM IN THIS VIDEO WAS NOT THE TORNADO... that doesn’t even have the structure of a tornadic portion of a supercell... it has the structure of the leading edge of a squall line. Tornadoes usually occur on the southwestern edge of the parent supercell; forming the classic hook echo on radar... I bet if you look at the records from that storm you will see a bow echo and not a hook echo. The squall line probably had an imbedded tornado but that is not it. That is a gust front with a rain shaft . If that were the rotating part of the supercell it would have mesocyclonic characteristics; it would be rotating counterclockwise( in very rare cases clockwise), feature a wall cloud and probably an inflow tail; and show striations from the rotating winds. Look up the May 31, 2013 El Reno tornado and you will see what a rotating storm looks like. Or send me your email address and I’ll send you a pic of a rotating mesocyclone that I took with my iPhone

Our home in Roswell, GA lost its roof in a severe thunderstorm...Homes get damaged in severe NON TORNADIC thunderstorms by straight line winds and microbursts. I’ve seen a derecho cause damage that people thought was a tornado.
