- One of my favorite things about living in a historic home is how it feels when it rains. There’s just a magic to it that’s almost hard to describe, making it feel cozy and enchanting all at once. Today I’m sharing some of my favorite corners of our first floor in this 1872 Gothic Victorian.

I had a toy Victorian kitchen for my daughter when she was little. She loved playing with it! She would happily rush about hurrying to prepare her meals to imitate me. Lol I plan to do this again for my grandchildren. Thank you for sharing this. It lovely to see moms encouraging the love of homemaking. It seems to be a lost art.

It HAS been a dreary spring! I was just thinking I should use my candles more often. I envy that your house has a lot of original (or period restoration) elements. My 1892 house has definitely been stripped and modernized in the last century and though that's part of its personality and story, I do hope to add some original character back, like the bullseye trim and paneled doors.
I keep forgetting how similar in ages our homes are!
Your home is fantastic. I think though, the word you are looking for is hygge, pronounced "Hue-guh"
