June Pointer’s distinctive vocal delivery here is supremely powerful! She certainly knew how to put a👊🏾punch into a Pointer Sister song! 🎶 -RIP June & Anita🕊️
June totally owning that outfit... she has incredible natural presence. Can't fake that level of charisma. Miss you Queen. Put the Pointer's in the RRHOF!
"Hot Together" was such a good album, one that never got the recognition it deserved. The Pointer Sisters are one of the most talented vocal groups ever, male or female. The quality of their output remained phenomenally consistent through their lengthy career. Each album they recorded was simply loaded with amazing songs, whether they were released as singles or not. Anita, Ruth and June each had their own distinctive vocal style, which zoomed to the stratosphere when they sang together. Their music will ALWAYS hold a super special place in my heart.
The legacy you left us thirteen years ago today June, is a "Goldmine!" You were such a beautiful person on stage and probably in real life, to those who knew you personally. You are missed.

LOL are you kidding me? I'm only 27 years old and, quite frankly, grew up in the "Spice Girls" era. But DUDE, if we take QUALITY into consideration, I would totally, no questions asked, put The Pointer Sisters way above The Spice Girls. Have you seen The Pointer Sisters' early days in the 70s? These ladies have more talent in their little finger than Destiny's Child, The Supremes, and The Andrews Sisters combined. Check out their early live stuff - even Manhattan Transfer and Fifth Dimension had nothing on these girls. Sadly this was their last Top 40 hit. :(
Actually "All I Know Is The Way I Feel" ( Hot Together 1987), "He Turned me out" (Serious Slammin 1988) out n "Friend's advice" (Right Rhythm 1990) where top 40. Each song maintained a nice range; early out on the charts. "After you" (Right Rhythm) didn't do very well). Plus "Insanity" ( Right Rhythm 1990) was a major dance/house charter for them.
@@reneastle8447 They really deserved to. They were at their peak popularity, hitting on all pistons with that Dance-Pop formula. In my chart fantasy, and if I ran RCA records back then, ""Dare Me", "Freedom", "Goldmine" and "Be There" (from Beverly Hills Cop 2) would have all went Top 10, and "Twist My Arm", "All I Know Is The Way I Feel", and "Back In My Arms" would have all hit the Top 40. And they would have hit it again in 1990 with "Friends' Advice", which was slammin'! EDITED TO ADD: Honorable mention: "Hot Together". Would have made great single, as tied in with "Spaceballs" and the NBA. But summer of '87 was already saturated with 2 other PS singles, plus Anita's solo "Overnight Success", which was also fabulous!

The only music video done for Hot Together... they really didn't bother trying to promote this album... or Serious Slammin'... they must have just given up after Contact because they realized they weren't going to top Break Out
What happened after the Contact album is that Richard Perry's Planet Records ceased to exist afterwards and the Pointer Sisters were transferred to the RCA records and they lost interest and moved on from the girls by the late 80's.
They never gave up. They even had a TV special in 85 (live in paris), one on Anita's b-day in '87 (Up All Night) and did tons of promo. It was that their record label deemed them has-beens, which wasn't true because their fans and the general public loved them more than ever. RCA dropped the ball, which was shameful. These ladies had it in them to put out hits on the regular into the early 90s.
I agree it was at least a full star better than Contact, which, despite a handful of great songs, also fell a bit flat. Not to mention wonky sequencing. "Dare Me" and "Freedom" were the last 2 songs. Weird. I wish their follow-up to Break Out had really been as tight as that album was.
