Saw her in Atlantic City in 1988 I think. She played at the Sands Copa Room, it was table seating general admission...all seats were the same price.... They seated you, if you gave the guy a good tip he'd seat you in a great seat. We gave him $20 each and he sat us at a table right next to the stage. Best show I ever saw.

Congratulations Sheena. You've song music by Prince. You've sung with Luis Miguel and you even sang the theme song to one of the James Bond movies. All that that in the 80s alone. She was overtaken in the US market by Madonna starting in 1984-85, as well as Whitney Houston. By the time Sheena Easton pivoted to the tunes written by Prince in 1987-88 (The Lover In Me comes to mind), there was no space in the market. Then came the Babyface-inspired R&B artists like Paula Abdul, Jody Watley and Karyn White in 1988-91, which pushed Sheena to the side. And in 1990 came Mariah Carey (Vision of Love), at the start of her run. That's probably why Sheena was not more famous. What a shame, Sheena was a great singer.

@@tammyhall3144 When we look at Sheena Easton's discography, she really had "three" careers. First was the "Morning Train" and "For Your Eyes Only" sound and look, totally wholesome and beautiful. Then came the "We've Got Tonight" duet with Kenny Rogers ... what an odd pairing, she was young enough to be his daughter. Finally came the Prince-inspired era of "Strut", "Sugar Walls" and "The Lover In Me", radically different in the look and the sound. The Sheena Easton from "For Your Eyes Only" was the girl you wanted to ask to the dance as a 14 year-old in school. The Sheena from that duet with Kenny Rogers was the girl you brought to church, and maybe a prayer meeting or two. Then the "Sugar Walls" and "Lover In Me" version of Sheena was the woman you met at the nightclub, and maybe disappeared with for a week ... definitely not the girl you brought home to meet Grandma.

Sheena was everywhere. Sheena did my favorite Bond song. Not the most memorable, but in my ear, the best. So much talent and sass. She took Strut and made it sound so sexual while telling the songs antagonist Sheena, and all females, needed to be treated better than some decorated piece of temporary, one-sided, pleasure.

She was the whole package. She was pretty and sassy. Her vocal talent was immense and the Scottish accent slipping into her songs just made her voice even more special and it is even better when she sings songs that more heartbreaking or romantic in nature, as she pulls at the heartstrings and you can't help but start crying.

She is underrated to me as well. But I have read Sheena didn't have the willpower to do the amount of shows Madonna was doing at the time and I get the impression that when she felt her personality changing, she left as I have read she could be rather nasty according to people at the infamous concert that nearly killed her in 1990.
I think after that moment, everything worked out for the best for Sheena as she became an adoptive mother and she was happy to let her recording career trinkle down I don't think she has recorded any new music since 2005 when she worked with Nobuo Uematsu on the Lost Odyssey video game and has largely returned to singing at smaller venues or casinos

Hearing this song again takes me back in time, it's rock at it's finest one of my favorites from the 80's , strut, you can't hear it and not want to jam this music makes get in the groove and Sheena Easton was pulling it off, she was happening well alright.

I think Olivia Newton-John could've rocked this song also. Remember when Olivia went from the innocent, sweet country girl singer to "Physical' ? But yeah, I agree that Sheena did great with this song. I think this was the song that turned Sheena from girl-next-door to a vixen.
