My 1st ever dog was a springer spaniel, the adventures we had were fantastic, we travelled together, he even helped me when I went into labour, and was a great helper with my son, for a first dog I couldn't have been more blessed, and he was more than happy to have his own sun lounger in the back garden in the summer with his umbrella. That dog brought me faith when I had none in anything. So standing up for the springer spaniels on loyalty, caring, and helping during labour when you are all alone 👍🏻

I'm the owner of a Springer Spaniel and a Labrador. Funny, my Springer is very active and focused when walking (I live in the countryside and his hunting instincts are fully fulfilled) but very chill and calm inside the house. On the other hand my Labrador is relatively quiet when walking but very demanding in the house (for tug and fetch plays).

I'm surprised to not see the Patterdale Terrier on here. I've got a one year old and he's excellent for his breed and age, but almost everyone I've spoken to who have owned one seem to have bad behavioural problems with theirs. Especially people who've got them from working lines. A lot of them get rehomed in the UK because people can't handle them. Very stubborn, working energy, high prey drive. I love mine to bits but he makes every spaniel I've ever met seem chilled out in comparison. Any time someone recognised the breed when he was a pup gave me a very sincere "good luck" haha

I've had a couple of cockers and they were pretty decent dogs. The older one traveled the country with my parents in their semi, she loved it and thrived. When my stepfather retired, she hung out wrapped around his neck while they watched MASH reruns. 35 lbs of potato.
The other was the sweetest dog I've ever owned. He had several health issues, pretty much every one that goes with the breed. But man he was a sweet, gentle dog with my little kids. He'd go for hours with them, then flop at my feet.
I'll never own another because of the health issues that were bred into them by poor breeding practices. It might be different on the other side of the pond, but in the US, I'd never suggest them for anyone.

We got a working cocker some weeks ago, I personally love how hyped she is just to do something, literally anything with someone.
She is 11 weeks old atm and already probably the smartest dog we've ever had, But yeah, they do have a shit ton of energy.
She is also probably the bravest puppy I've ever met, like literally everyone is a possible new friend and over all nothing really bothers her, except for bigger dogs that are being loud, but usually she just goes into the "I'm just a puppy please don't eat me" mode and after that dog has said hi goes straight back to what she was doing before.

I have a 9 month old Cocker Spaniel called Arlo and he is the most beautiful creature. Yes, he is hyper...but that's not a bad thing i don't feel. He's such a happy little boy, absolutely loves being off lead to the point that i don't take him places where he needs to be on lead all the time. He's fantastic being off lead actually. His dopey little face brings me so much joy, he's definitely the love of my life and i wouldn't be without him. He picks things up so quickly too, he's been way easier to train than i thought he would be, especially as i use treats very sparingly. Then there's that gorgeous spaniel face and the look of pure unconditional love and the wagging of his tail and bum. Can't beat coming home to that.

He doesn’t train them anymore. I recently applied to his Academy to get some help for my own dog and was told that I’d hear back from them within 48 working hours. That was 3 weeks ago. I used the contact form on his website just over a week ago to chase it but again, never heard anything and I’m the kind of person that does check my junk folders just to make sure nothing falls through.
Up until yesterday, I had been a loyal fan and subscriber of his for over 3 1/2 years, but no more and as far as I concerned, he is as fake as they go.

It's so disappointing seeing the same videos being made over and over again, as people are saying. A wealth of knowledge to make videos about even without cutting into the paid course material (of which I've purchased and recommended to others), hell even some videos with case studies of dogs from the training centre would be great content, but we get this. I genuinely respect Will a lot and would love the chance to talk dog training one day, but the ship needs correcting here and fast.

I’ve had a Husky as a kid and now a Golden. I agree, I wouldn’t want to own a Husky now. When I was young, our Husky had a massive backyard to run around and my dad, rain, shine, blizzard, storm, whatever it was outside would walk him for an hour and it was nothing but pulling for the entire walk.
The pros of owning a Husky is its remarkable health, ours lived for 15.5 years and didn’t slow down until he was 13. They also do not need much food and have much better table manners than our Golden.

I think huskies can definitely bring just as much joy and fulfilment as any other breed it depends on what you like! For me I don't get the appeal of Labs at all they are too eager to please and overly bouncy and I just don't like the look of them and find them so boring and sterotypical. I've encountered so many at my work and just don't think they're that great. Any breed can bring the same amount of joy as any other depends on who you are and what you like. Im not a huge husky fan either but I see people enjoy them so much in family life and have them happy and well trained. For me its greyhounds and whippets all the way!!! But some people may not like them, doesn't mean they bring any less joy or fulfillment to someone.

    Agree 100%
But ..my first dog as a child (5ys) was a complete crazy black Cocker Spaniel Lady😂🎉 totally out of the control of my overwhelmed parents...i learned in the freedom of a small Village in the 70s in Germany what a kid with a bike and always sausage in the pocket can do for a high energy, but bored to death Cocker Spaniel.. we were out together every day from 1 pm till sunset.
My second dog, a high drive working line Dutchy was compared to my Cocker Lady the best surprise in my life how easy he was to educate and handle, how fast he bonded strong with me, how excellent social behavior he had (what was not the quality of my Cocker, she was biting people she disliked).
So since that time i' m absolut addicted to Dutchies (Mals) for their special talent to think as a team member and finding own solutions for problems as souvereign independent thinkers.
I guess i never would had the passion for Dutchies if i had not the gift of my Cocker Lady sharing 18ys her life with me

For me, this is the best breed on the planet. Training them is super easy for me. As a child I used to watch my grandma training her dog, so I do the same thing she did with mine. My Caucasians are probably the best behaved dogs in the city I live in.

My next dog was an American Cocker, another great dog.

Sadly I think you are right about Siberian Huskies. These are just not pets and if they don't have the right environment (ie cold) they are going to be miserable. I knew one couple with one who ended up having to make it an outside pen as it just wouldn't live in the house. These dogs suffer from the fact they are just so beautiful. There are too many people who don't do their homework and find out what a dog is actually bred for before falling for it's looks.

Go back to heel training, and trying to get her to walk alongside / behind you. Hand full of treats by your knee (or peanut butter on your hand) as you walk to lure her along at your pace, lots of verbal praise when she's good at this. An alternative to changing direction method is to just stop, then when the leads goes loose you proceed. Dog eventually gets the message they get somewhere faster on a loose lead, rather than constant stop start. Also when lead goes tight and you're pulling and she's pulling in opposite directions, if you can stop walking but just gently release the lead pressure using your arm, the dog will more easily give in and gradually reduce the pull from their side. These kinds of things have worked for me with multiple dogs. But takes time. If you can get to a trainer who can observe you and your dog, and show you techniques that would help.

She was keeping my dog for me because dogs were not allowed in the dorms. She said my dog was racist. She had ordered a kitchen table and the guys came to deliver it and one of them in was black. I guess my dog had not been around many Black people because she never quit barking at him. But I don’t think it had anything to do with this color because later on she was around Black people, brown people, every color people :-) and she was fine. She didn’t quite know what to make of a little person who was a friend of my sisters. She kept looking at him funny for a while, but she warmed up to him.

One of the worst mixes on the planet in terms of energy. And you know this?? Step one teach the puppy to fetch. If they are not good at that get a treadmill, unless you have acres for the dog to run in. OR start training for a marathon and make sure they are with you every step of the way. SOOO many of these crosses at the SPCA. And you know about their grooming needs? You should equip yourself and learn how to groom your own dog, Their coats need REGULAR care. Gets expensive if you can't do it on your own. The cockapoo pup is the cutest...but is like a whirling dervish on crack. You are a brave, and hopefully energetic, soul!

I love your videos but I think you just don't vibe well with high energy breeds.
I know plenty of huskies in the dog sport world who do really well and bring a lot of joy to their owners.
I'm personally a dog sport and herding breed person (aussies, mini American shepherds border collies, etc) and I find their chaotic energy to be very rewarding. I also think they're loads more fun to train than something like a lab or golden which I would classify as a little boring.
Also, cockers must be VERY different in UK vs USA because every cocker spaniel I ever met was a boring couch potato and I don't know anyone who actually hunts with them. They're bred strictly as companions and for the show ring here. If you want a working dog here, you'd get an English cocker (what you guys would call a wocker)
