      Red 5 can you compare your impressions of the power between the two. I have usually rode supersports, but thought the fz 07 looks nice but we can't test ride bikes around where I am. I just don't want to get bored. I actually think the power might be enough for me, but I worry I would miss the top end rush. I have tended to like high revving engines over the years (even my old Yamaha maxim 650 was a four cylinder high revving cruiser)

    • @Red5
      @Red5  8 лет назад +2

      Let me try and answer this without writing a novel. First thing i'll say is if I could only have one bike, it would be the FZ07. It does everything I need it to do. It's comfortable for my commute to work, it's fun in the canyons, and it holds its own on the track. Not to mention I think it's a good looking bike, much better than the FZ09 in my opinion.
      I've been riding for over 30 years, my R6 is my 3rd sportbike. I got the FZ07 because I wanted something i could commute on comfortably, but I didn't want a boring bike. The FZ07 actually has more torque than the R6 but it comes on at idle and continues well through the mid range. It's not a high revving monster but it has more than enough power to keep me from getting bored.
      I do like to do trackdays, and I do like that high revving 4 cylinder sound and feel as you do. I'm lucky enough now to be able to keep two bikes.
      I hope I haven't confused you even more, bottom line is I don't think you'll get bored on this bike. If you haven't already, check out my part 2 video. The DNA air filter & stage 2 cover along with the ECU flash made a huge improvement.

      +Red 5 I'm having a hard time choosing which bike to get, the fz-07 or the cb 500f

    • @Red5
      @Red5  8 лет назад

      +Deme H. I've never ridden the Honda. Looks like a nice bike. The FZ-07 has a lot more power, the Honda gets better gas mileage. I guess it comes down what you're going to use the bike for, and how long you plan on keeping it. If this is your first bike, you will most likely "outgrow" the 500 in a year. It really comes down to a lot of personal preferences.

    • @demeh.5827
      @demeh.5827 8 лет назад

      +Red 5 yes this will be my first bike and I plans to use it for riding and commuting and with me living in New Jersey where the weather changes with the seasons. I plans to be a seasonal rider cause there's no way I'll be riding a motorcycle in New Jerseys freezing icy winter's lol

    • @Red5
      @Red5  8 лет назад

      The windscreen is great around town, but a freeway speeds it puts the air right under my chin. If you tuck in a bit the air will go over your head. It's mainly for looks. I think it cleans up the front of the bike.

    • @2alphacpa374
      @2alphacpa374 8 лет назад +1

      +Red 5 Hi Red 5, how tall are you? I'm 5'7" and am wondering if the wind will hit me under the chin as it does you.

    • @Red5
      @Red5  8 лет назад +1

      I'm 5'8" so in the upright riding position most likely it will. They make taller windscreens that work better but I don't like the looks. And after all it is a naked bike so a little wind in the face is expected. If I'm taking a long trip I wear earplugs.

      +Red 5 +Red 5 your bike, how you did the mods. I'm interested in the seat, how'd you put the gel in there? oh and do you like that windscreen?!

    • @Red5
      @Red5  8 лет назад

      This is the video I used on how to install the gel pad in the seat.
      ruclips.net/video/pvA4Hnt9qUM/видео.html
      They have videos on how to install the seat cover as well.
      I like the looks of the windscreen, but I still get a lot of air on the freeway. I don't drive much on the freeway though. The windscreens that really protect you from the wind at high speeds are kind of ugly unfortunately.

    • @axelxl3MM
      @axelxl3MM 8 лет назад

      Red 5 ultimately is like to do all those mods, but I'm just getting started. How do you like the Givi windscreen?

    • @Red5
      @Red5  7 лет назад

      +psychofunksoldier02 - I definitely like the way it looks. It really looks like it belongs on the bike. As far as wind protection, you'll never really get good wind protection unless you put a tall (ugly) screen on it. It is after all a naked bike

    • @psychofunksoldier02
      @psychofunksoldier02 7 лет назад

      Red 5 I hear that! I've been looking at that and the Puig sport screen. I was hoping the Givi might provide some wind protection to justify the $40 difference. I prefer the esthetics of the Givi but maybe not that much.

      is it worth to have a windscreen?

    • @Red5
      @Red5  8 лет назад

      Thank you!
      I guess it depends what you expect from the windscreen. The one on my bike I would say is more for looks, but it does help with the wind a bit.
      If you really want to block the wind you'll need a larger screen, but I think they're a bit unsightly. It really comes down to personal preference.

    • @pagadqs
      @pagadqs 8 лет назад

      You're welcome. I need to start upgrading my FZ-07 , but I think I will leave the exhaust last. Windscreen is a priority , I have figured out a way to use my phone on a very small tank bag as a GPS, although your solution is much smoother and sophisticated . That bag that goes on the passenger seat - I need to get me one of those asap , it will make carrying my work and gym clothes and accessories around so much easier... But all your upgrades make sense. Shit.. I just wish all those accessories weren't as expensive as they are, in the end it all adds up to a big sum of money :D

    • @Red5
      @Red5  8 лет назад

      The problem with the GPS on the tank is that you have to look down to see it, that can be dangerous. The RAM Mount is actually not that expensive, a little under $50

    • @pagadqs
      @pagadqs 8 лет назад

      Yeah , I honestly haven't tested it in traffic yet , it works just fine on a longer trip outside of town , in traffic looking down may be an issue. The mount is cheap , but I am reluctant to mount my phone anywhere there without a screen , which automatically makes the whole thing worth $200 :P As I said - shit adds up . How did you get the usb charger , I know there should be a DC connector somewhere behind the plastic piece by the tank , but I haven't taken it off to mess around with it. Was it complicated ?

    • @Red5
      @Red5  8 лет назад

      Yeah there is a DC connector on the bike, but the USB charger I have just wires straight to the battery and has it's own fuse. It's just a generic charging port from Cycle Gear. It's really easy to install. It has a connector too so if I need to remove the windscreen it just unplugs.
      www.cyclegear.com/accessories/trackside-usb-outlet
      I cut off the mounting ears and just used the 3M heavy duty double sided tape

  • @APJ9000

    have you thought about using a straight handlebar compared to the stock? and what about harder suspension?

    • @Red5
      @Red5  8 лет назад

      No I use this bike mostly for commuting so I like the upright position.
      I've stiffened up the forks (check out my video), and I run the rear spring 2 clicks up which works pretty good for me.

    • @APJ9000
      @APJ9000 8 лет назад

      Def will! If I could suggest for deeper content, you should add your opinions on what you liked and don't like about the stock and OEM parts. I'm tryna get the 07 too, so I'll probably check or more vids

    • @Red5
      @Red5  8 лет назад

      There's a lot FZ07 videos out there, I'm sure you you've seen many of them. It's a really good bike depending on what you expect from it.
      I've been riding super sport bikes for a long time, but I wanted something a little more comfortable to commute on. At the same time I wanted a bike I could take to the canyons and still have fun.
      If you have any specific questions feel free to ask.

  • @elvy3236
    @elvy3236 8 лет назад

    No problem. . i have a question What's the difference between this bike fzo7 and the mt07

    • @Red5
      @Red5  8 лет назад

      The MT-07 is the European version and has some different options. They have optional ABS, and they have version that limits the horsepower. In Europe your motorcycle license limits you to a certain amount of horsepower, and you have to work your way up to qualify for a better license.
      Otherwise the FZ-07 and MT-07 are identical.

    • @Osprey1994
      @Osprey1994 8 лет назад

      Now in Europe bikes are required to have 47hp from factory for A2 you can't make a 75hp bike a 47hp bike anymore unfortunately for those blokes over the pond.

  • @MrGunner945
    @MrGunner945 7 лет назад

    What year is your FZ 07? Also I am 6'0 about 225lbs and looking to get a sport bike. I like the FZ 07 but am wondering if it would be a good bike for a guy of my height and weight. What are your thoughts?

    • @Red5
      @Red5  7 лет назад

      N-JAXS - it's a 2015. I've seen some pretty big guys on FZ-07's but it's going to be up to you to figure out if you're comfortable on it. I would try riding one or at least sitting on one to see how it feels for you.

    • @myunseenvisions
      @myunseenvisions 6 лет назад

      Red 5 Cool. I’m gonna go ahead and do it. Also, you’re the first person I’ve seen with that rear hugger extension and I’ve been eyeballing one for my fz-07 for a while but wasn’t sure how it’d look around the bike. I finally ordered one last night it. ;)

    • @Red5
      @Red5  6 лет назад +1

      Yeah I think the rear hugger looks good on just about any bike. Let me give you some advice on installing it. DO NOT use the cheap rubber cement that comes with it, get some black silicone RTV from the auto parts store. It's best to remove the fender which can be done without removing the rear wheel, but removing the wheel will make it easier. Use a good amount of the RTV, clamp it together, and let it sit over night.

  • @Daniel-dj7fh
    @Daniel-dj7fh 7 лет назад +2

    the rear hugger extension, how did youput it on. is it glued?

    • @Red5

      Daniel Schlegel - I used black RTV Silicone to install it. It comes with some rubber cement stuff but DO NOT USE IT, I've heard people say there's fell off when they've used it. Mine still holding strong with the black silicone.

      N jerums I would say it's 25% better. It gets the wind off your chest but you still get a face full.

    oh so how is you brake on your bike is good or u need the abs version?

    • @Red5
      @Red5  8 лет назад

      The brakes are very good. I've been riding a long time and I've never had a bike with ABS, so not having it is not an issue for me.
      For new riders or people that ride in the rain, ABS would be a good thing to have. It doesn't rain much where I live.

    • @Osprey1994

      Learn to ride without ABS it's a good idea... it teaches you not to push your limits an expect ABS to be there to save you.

    Hey am looking to get a seat cover, is the luimoto seat cover more comfortable for longer rides?

    • @Red5
      @Red5  7 лет назад

      Alex K - The seat cover by itself won't help much for comfort, but I've added gel pad under the cover that helps 1000% There's a video from Luimoto that shows you how to install the gel pad. It's not that hard to do

    Did your r&g rear spools fit right? The rod wouldn't go far enough through the axel to evenly tighten the nuts. I had to grind it down a bit. What about yours?

    • @Red5
      @Red5  7 лет назад

      Mine fit right in. Did you try inserting it from the other side? The ends are different because of the axle nut.

      I actually have a set of CRG bar end mirrors, they look awesome!! But I use this bike for commuting so opted to put the stock mirrors back on for better visibility. To many idiots on the road that I need to look out for.

    does the power commander help a lot with the fz07?

    • @Red5
      @Red5  8 лет назад

      With a non-stock exhaust, you either need to run the power commander or have the ECU flashed with a new map. Otherwise the bike will be popping and farting.
      With a stock exhaust, you'll get a slight improvement but it's so slight you may not notice.

    • @quanwick4516
      @quanwick4516 8 лет назад

      +Red 5 does it make the bike faster with the performance exhaust?

    • @Red5
      @Red5  8 лет назад

      It has a much broader power range and better throttle response. It's a big improvement and the sound is awesome. The stock exhaust is way too quiet in my opinion.

    • @Osprey1994
      @Osprey1994 8 лет назад

      I suggest going with a ECU re-flash from 2 Wheel Dyno Works much better than a piggyback controller and much easier to install. If you want a piggyback controller go with EJK it's a better device.

    • @Red5
      @Red5  8 лет назад

      The nice thing about the piggyback controllers is being able to put them in closed loop mode and tune them to your specific bike and riding habits.

    Hey, How's that rear hugger working? Is it less dirty under the seat? (and suspension)

    • @Red5
      @Red5  8 лет назад

      That thing is awesome! Yes it really helps keep the under side clean. I suppose it helps keep the shock and spring cleaner too.
      If you get one, don't use the adhesive that comes with it. I've read a lot of people have had them come off. I used black silicone to install mine and it's really solid.

    • @Osprey1994
      @Osprey1994 8 лет назад

      If you go on sand it ends up on the rear hugger and suspension.

      By itself, I don't think so. But it does include a waterproof rain cover which I haven't tried out because it doesn't rain much where I live.

    • @Red5

      I hear ya...I've crossed that threshold too. My last two bikes were a ZX6r and a GSX-R600. I like this FZ because I can do my daily commute comfortably have some fun in the canyons as well.
      The stock seat is not that comfortable for longer rides, but with that gel pad in there I can go all day now.

      Thank you! I've never ridden the Duke but I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed with the FZ-07

    • @Osprey1994
      @Osprey1994 8 лет назад

      Get the FZ-07 and then take a look at the Toce performance exhaust I have a reveal video of the very first on my channel. Nice thing about the FZ-07 is full exhausts aren't necessary after talking with Dan Toce of Toce performance and a few other experts they all told me the same thing header backs provide negligible performance increases on an FZ-07 unless you went the titanium route. Also if you want you can start with a slip on and then get an Arrow header to midpipe and weld them together down the road.

    • @Red5
      @Red5  8 лет назад

      No bolt on accessory will make a dramatic difference in power. If you want meaningful increases you need to do internals like bigger cams and higher compression. This is not the most powerful bike there is, so if you're looking for huge gains you should be looking at the FZ-09 or FZ-10.
      The biggest reason to change the exhaust is because the stock exhaust makes the bike sound like a sewing machine lol. The exhaust is as much a fashion statement as anything else. That Toce exhaust looks nice!
