Rap Critic I like how u kept character the whole time
But you said it was one rapper but two guys rapped on here the guy in back was another guy
I think the line where they said the brother stole the tv, because they were watching it too much was a way to deal with the fact that he probably was stealing to sell it for financial reasons or drugs. They probably cannot handle the fact that their relative stole from them.
Yo you looked like *Questlove* in that video ! s\o to you my man !
Nice joke about the internet when you came up to that crazy word: sacroiliac? Impressive.
This is what Rap Critic's dad looked like when he was young
OwenGTA Haha!
I'm pretty sure that *is* his dad.
XD
Damn you look a lot like that Rap Critic dude.
Don't be stupid. They look *nothing* alike!
Nahhhh
cooldog2168 thank you! This whole time I've been thinking to myself, "this guy looks like someone.... but I can't put my finger on who!" Thank you! It was driving me crazy!!
Heard they were distant cousins
I heard that he is rc DIRECT ancestor, man who knows.
This is pretty creative. I love how you stuck with it the whole way through and didn't just cut it as a one off joke. Hope the hip-hop anaylst makes a comeback.
Error I was worried he'd just drop character partway through as well. Glad he didn't :)
I hope he does too and the "for my first record review" quote indicates he will come back
Dedication to characters is everything
I hope the Hip Hop Analyst does a joint with Harvey Finevoice
Looks like rap critic found some old footage of his predecessor... still holds up.
Love how you stayed in character
Mischief Memoirs can we make this a series
This song is shockingly still relatable today even 30 years later
Thats how good music was and still is today. Dont wack hip hop just because of sub genre a it's still good because of sub genre B and more.
Joshua Lasso almost 40 years later
Not really shocking when you consider that the problems brought up in the song hasn't been changed or fully dealt with in today's society.
Nothing "shocking" about it, to be honest...
Yeah, it proves people obviously didn't get "The Message"
And that day, Rap Critic finally invented a wacky side-character to rival Cinema Snob's 80s Dan.
I think 80s Dan and The Hip-Hop Analyst would get along great. 90's Kid not so much.
Anthony Fantano's Cal*
Please turn the Hip Hop Analyst into a recurring character/mini series
Laffing Fox I agree
Yeah, there are a lot of old gems that still hold up today, and the character is pretty funny too. Hopefully he will see this, 'cause this was a solid-ass episode.
Only old songs though
After Hip-Hop Analyst, can you introduce Black Music Commentator or Urban Judge?
How about resurrect The Ghost of Issac Hayes?
I think...
Does the Urban Judge dress like Judge Dredd and review afrofuturist videos?
The R&B one man jury
I like this aesthetic
Only the Rap Critic can get away with reviewing a song 36 years after it came out
This has to be one of my favorite Rap Critic reviews we have got in a WHILE. I'm glad we still got this level of passion, creativity, and now we have it with this level of production! Well done Rap Critic. This might be my personal favorite video of yours, and I hope it becomes your biggest yet
This video begs the question: how are the Rap Critic and the Hip-Hop Analyst related?
How are RC and The Ghost of Issac Hayes related?
Damn it, now we need to start a wikia to aggregate all of that RC lore -.-
Worst Commenter On RUclips so it not just me...
weirrrrd
Patrons get early access to vids, so I guess it's simpler to have the video unlisted while RC shares it on Patreon(then sharing it publicly days later) rather than posting it on another site JUST for patrons.
Mutual friends
The Hip Hop Analyst, eh? I kinda dig it..... what's next, the R&B Judge?
I bet he can do a mean Randy Jackson
The country music connoisseur😂😂
breakdance evaluator
Rhythm and Blues Assessor
The Electro evaluator
My public access just got amazing
I like the early 80's style of this episode. I always like it when you switch up the format and presentation in your videos.
Did you know? I recently found out for myself Rap Critic is a classically trained Opera Singer and has the loveliest Bass/(Bariton). Pretty much all i know about Rap Music is through him ❤
5sieben2. Me too!
Does he have any recordings of him singing? Gotta see this myself

The New York accent killed me
Very creative way to review a classic track, respect!!
Looks like someone watched the "evolution of hip hop" series on Netflix
Mark Sullivan yeah because the rap critic surely had no clue about hip hop's beginning before that netflix documentary
MF SHROOM lol. You right. But he hits up a LOT of specifics they did in the series.
YO! What if the Rap Critic and the Hip-Hop Analyst are the same person? I mean, you never see them together If so, just how old IS the Rap Critic?
Dude, I honestly wish you all the best with your Patreon artist promos. This can change the industry if it catches on.
Man, that was the shit! Keep making these kinds of videos, Rap Critic! Shine a light on those old, old, incredibly old school hip hop jams, man! :)
This picture was straight fresh! I'd kill to see another dig like this!
Man I wish the Internet would be invented so I could make some sort of "comment" on this cats video :(
barrelroll90001 and I wish I could reply to comments and be a part of a thing called a “thread”. :(
+Ranbir Singh It would be cool if you could reply to yourself.
No it wouldn’t Dogg! It would just look sad and lonely.
+Ranbir Singh It would be fun to just troll though homie
What if people don’t like it? Like how am I supposed to know?
The sacroiliac joint or SI joint (SIJ) is the joint between the sacrum and the ilium bones of the pelvis, which are connected by strong ligaments. In humans, the sacrum supports the spine and is supported in turn by an ilium on each side.
Marsell Dufarge wow, thanks.
Still, RC makes a good point, that being that before the Internet, no one without a dictionary or access to a library would have been able to find out what it was.
I believe you mean HHA
@@sammyauroraloves
When in doubt assume it's a dick joke.
Aight, much love. You showed love and threw some jabs in there but it was love in the end. I thought you was about to try to hate.
People should request more old school Hip Hop!
Cmon bro. You know you'd be rockin a dashiki with the kuffi in those days!!!
Ah, this song. It's like fine wine. The moral of the story is still relevant and the production anf rapping is still dope to this day. It really aged well.
Defiantly one of the funnest reviews you have done, I loved the old school aesthetic. I can really see the work put into the episode :)
Luka Mladin That's not how you use "defiantly". Use "definitely" there.
Thanks Hip-hop Analyst! I always double feature your reviews with Midnight Screenings '78
Best episode I've seen. You should do more like this
I thought I clicked onto a rap critic review. Oh the deception😭
The sacroiliac joint or SI joint (SIJ) is the joint between the sacrum and the ilium bones of the pelvis, which are connected by strong ligaments. In humans, the sacrum supports the spine and is supported in turn by an ilium on each side.
In laymans terms it's the part of your spine that's connected to your pelvis. Tail bones and all that.
Thanks because that long definition wasn't doing it for me
:D
Word is bond.
The last lines in the song send chills up by spine every time I hear it. I can't speak to much about Rap music (that's what I'm subscribed to Rap Critic for) but this is been one of my favorites for awhile now. Great video for a great song
Same here about the last verse "A child is born with no state of mind. Just blew me away.
"is that what they're doing over at studio 54?" lol omg this is my new favorite rap critic video. well done. :)
Love the fro, man!
Hell yes, so glad you got around to it! Amazing episode and The Hip-Hop Analyst should totally become a recurring character!
This format was amazing! This would be a great reoccurring segment!
This was fun, always happy to see a new episode!
This was AMAZING! Would love to see this become a semi-regular series reviewing 80's hip hop.
Love the Twist in you usual format. I hope that you will bring this new character back from time to time or create more
Man, so good to finally see the Older Rap Critic episodes getting archived. I can't believe they took this show off MTV.
Hey rap critic... you ever play JetSetRadio... I think you might like it.
VocalCalibration One of the greatest games of all time.
do a 90s conscious rap version of the rap critic! and review a Tupac song
This video was worth the wait. Very creative and entertaining!
Man, I'm a huge fan of your nephew's work! Awesome to see you getting some time up on the screen too! You two should do a colab some time! Man, can you imagine it? People will go crazy for the Rap Critic and Hip-Hop Analyst in the SAME VIDEO! It'll be amazing!
The line "this teacher's a jerk he must think I'm a fool" is also in "the best day" by atmosphere
Yo you should do videos like that a bit more that was hilarious
Can you please make this a series! This is my favorite video of yours so far! (And I've been watching since the TGWTG days lol)
Can we please get more of Hip-Hop Analyst? This video was the bees knees. 🙌🏾
Is it me or does he look 20 years younger with that get up? 🤔
MarkEz DEZ Isn't he like 25?
Fredrik Kåreholt wait... he’s not 50??
MarkEz DEZ lmao nigga wut.
MarkEz DEZ Right? It looks really good on him.
I think you almost had too much fun with this. I hope we get more Hip-Hop Analyst bits in the future.
I laughed so hard when you said, "how they allowing this on the radio
Just echoing all the other comments, this was class.
i've been waiting for this review for a loooooong time. a big thanks to the person who requested it. ♥
(and of course a huge thanks to Sir Hip-Hop Analyst fro doing it ♥♥♥)
I have this theory that Rap Critic's dad or grandfather was around during this era, which is why he has the Hip Hop Analyst character down so well. Cause his dad or grandfather talked like that all the time.
We need more themed episodes like this as characters please. This was so good.
LOVE the throwback vibe of this! More please :)
This is AWESOME! More, please! ❤
The guy who wrote this song (Ed Fletcher aka Duke Bootee) actually teaches at my school Savannah State University
The last verse of The Message is, arguably, one of the greatest verses in musical history. This song is and will always be one of my all-time favorite songs, even with the goofier lines..
Amazing! Stayed in character too. Hope to see more like this!
This was really entertaining and creative. Hope you do more reviews in a style similar to this.
I grew up in the Bronx in the 80s and this was so DOPE! Yo, Analyst! Keep droppin' that knowledge!
This is amazing
Grandmaster Flash and his crew is gonna be big one day, I'm telling you.
This character is great! The fact you kept it up through the whole review, cracks me up!
The fact that it was set in the 80's but the video had the MTV2 logo had me Rollin' Boyeee!
Greatness! Lol...def loved the depth of the concept and the library joint was a dope play on time. Good ish sir.
I love your work, but this is the best review you've ever done. Hope to see more of this sorta thing every once and a while in the future. (Kinda reminds me of the game "Jet Set Radio.")
Love it whenever you do those sweet rap and Metal cross overs! your the main reson i even understand rap at all
finally another normal episode song review
In b4 RC huffs about early 1980s use of a certain word...
Also, this song reminds me of how my neighborhood in Harlem used to be. Say what you want about gentrification, but at least my block doesn't look like a scene from "Escape From New York" anymore.
Sacroiliac?
I like this format a lot. I hope it comes back for retro reviews in the future.
Dooope. Very clever! Love it. ^-^ Thanks for keeping up the good work!!
Man this Hip Hop analyst is ten times cooler than the other guy of the channel, hope we see a comeback
Great review! Loved the creativity.
This is hands down my favourite Rap Critic episode
I love this every time I come across it
This has got to be one of my favorite episodes, you should do more characters like this when you review older music
Yes?? More of this please???
damn, can’t believe u kept that 80’s persona throughout the whole vid haha
Wow. That was both an excellent review and a pretty neat performance piece.
as a hip hop head that intro was everything 🤣🤣
I love this. Keep doing this.
That was awesome! I wonder if there's a chance of stepping into the potential future and reviewing a modern song of today.
So here for Hip-Hop Analyst. 🙌🙌
Actually; Featuring alternating lead vocals by Melle Mel and Ed "Duke Bootee" Fletcher.
I was listening to this song yesterday, now rap critic's video about it came out! Judging by the age of this song, that was a cool coincidence!
Yes! Do more of these!
Really like this! Even though it's funny, it actually gives you a good idea of the context around the song that makes it great.
I'd love to see you talk about "Self Destruction" with KRS-One and a buncha other rappers. I love that song
I would love another one from the hip hop analyst.
3:57 The sacroiliac joint or SI joint (SIJ) is the joint between the sacrum and the ilium bones of the pelvis, which are connected by strong ligaments. In humans, the sacrum supports the spine and is supported in turn by an ilium on each side.
"like people trying to be listenin' to Christian music and singing on a hip hop record?"
NF had the number one album in the country a couple months ago, and currently has the number 2 video on RUclips's trending.
Its sarcasm dude
So...? That's a NEW thing...
You're obviously a fan, but do you really think dude would be popular decades ago??
He wouldn't be. But now, it's a thing. RC is acknowledging how things have changed. 🤦
It didn't use to be like that. Decades ago. Which is when this video is taking place. You're talking about how well he's doing on the internet... despite RC even reminding you the internet was not invented yet.
I don't think this comment understands the entire premise of the video but I don't see how it's possible.
2 years late lol but my head is hurtin
RC pulls off the afro and gold chains pretty well tbh
Wonderful, thanks from the bottom of my heart
