Tip for the freedom challenge Lurkers: they want to get on the back of your vehicle specifically, so when you are at the low hover zone, swing the car around so that you can have them hop on the back quickly!

      And here's another tip:
You can leave the lurkers after shooting the vehicles they were trapped in and come back for them later. Especially if you don't trigger the alarm after destroying the vehicles, it becomes a cake walk.

    • @7th_Heaven
      @7th_Heaven 3 месяца назад

@spkymessage7346 Yeah controller drift is a real variable bsck in the actually good not stupid digital-only days. Dualshock2 controllers are amazing but they do go out. I want to say ours wore out to the extent that like 5-9 of them piled up.
All these people nowadays thinking they are playing the game by emulating it on computers with modern processors, increased ram and keyboards are NOT Playing the game. They need to turn of screen recorder and put a high performance splitter into a video encoder card or seperate camera and play the game on the hardware it was released with.
Like Gran Turismo 3 and GT4's IA and S License races. It is emprically proven the games and Dualshock2 controllers respond different and NTSC and PAL games even have reported lavels of difficulty. Grown men would go hours, days, weeks trying to achieve those licenses.
I loved my PS2 Slimline. Still have it. It has the 499Mhz processor which means slightly better performance than the original PS2. Still have controllers stashed. Basically I prefer bigger heavier more heat dissipating and not fragile frickin stupid planned obselescence design styles of technology. But the slim PS2 was amazing.
Still had problems. Controllers wearing out and cords developing increased oxidization resistance at ends, strain reliefs not working and disconnected conductors, plus controller cord extensions increasing line resistance, adding voltage drop and decreasing the time by miliseconds. Milliseconds matter in time trials and when you are operating a racing simulator for Nürburgring Nordschleife. m.ruclips.net/video/EIX61Bn00uM/видео.html
or like piloting a Chaparral 2J going 0 to 140 in 6 or whtever seconds with high tire wear on an endurance race and you need to avoid spinnouts before pitting.

The name of the game in jak 2 is the same as it was in jak 1..... Precision..... Except it's presented in a more mature format. They give you a challenge to master rather than just complete. Jak 2 really did something special with platforming and mechanics that Naughty Dog had already built in their legacy of 3d platforming...... And they somehow turned it in to an early form of open world and threw jak in to an Orwellian dystopia infused with a scifi war story..... Way to make a more mature game than GTA and get it rated T

I’m not gonna lie Jak 2 was always my favoritegame ever (now it’s red dead 2) I love all of jak 3s upgrades and light jak(and admittedly some checkpoints😭) but I actually miss the difficulty from jak 2 cuz it was very satisfying to beat a lot of those missions especially as a 6 year old kid it took me quite a while to beat this game 😂😂like for example I think giving a shorter limit
To the dark jak ability annoying but it always made you use it at the right and to make every hit count

"Given that the subject matter is so heavy, even for a fantasy, it is appropriate that one should have to suffer through it. If it were not punishing, it could not be rewarding. If it were too "fair", it would not be mature. There is a reason why the very people whom you save in this Game end up turning on you by the Third Game: that's how Life is. Heroism is a thankless task.

As such, I think we ought to make a critical distinction in between a "fun" Game, targeted at children, and a [G]ood Game marketed for Adults. _Jak II_ taught me that distinction many years ago, and it has aged well to this day because of it. It is a sobering reminder for developers to shut out the complaints and just to give us what we need, not what we want: *a Challenge."* 🤯👍

I just came up with a pretty good method to get through that mission hitless. First kill the four enemies closest to the entrance, then rush underneath the nearest walkway. Here the grenades will all miss and explode on the walkway above hopefully killing some guards in the way. Next kill the two guards on the left platform while you're safe underneath here. Then you wanna go across the chasm and shoot at the two guards down the hill. Then the rest is literally just camping underneath the platforms where the guards are and waiting for them to eliminate each other from friendly fire.
I'm routing the whole game for no damage. Some missions will require a lot of creativity,

My brother said the hellcat mission was his biggest wall and I beat it after like three tries

  • @agroed
    @agroed 2 дня назад +1

"It has an engaging story with great writing..." Oh this is gonna be gooooood. XD
Number 10: it takes a lot of tries because one of the vents is hidden in the corner of the map where you can't see it. And also because the jetboard just kind of shoots you off a cliff sometimes. Also an example of the extremely tight timers found throughout the rest of the game which force trial and error. (Hey, he talked about most of that. It's like these people actually know the game is bad but they played it as a kid so it can't be bad. Weird.)
Number 9: Any mission where you have to use a gun is going to be fucked because your aim assist is broken, meanwhile the enemies will nail you from across the entire map at random with no way to dodge. Also no checkpoints. (Well, whaddaya know, he actually mentioned all of that.)
Number 8: I don't think I had any problems with this one. Took me 2 actual attempts I think, even while distracted, but I've also had ten years of experience with reading radars so that certainly helps. People trying to do this without proper knowledge of utilizing angles and crowd control would have a tough time. Granted this is one where the lack of checkpoints isn't even a problem. It's a very short mission. (That exploit is hilarious though.)
Number 7: This one will probably take people a lot of tries because they constantly spawn Krimzon Guard out of thin air behind you and close to the kid, so if you're not looking at your radar religiously, the kid's going to get captured. Not only that, but his icon is the same as the cars, so if you take a quick look at your radar, you could mistake him for a car like I did. It's also insta-fail. Again, pretty short mission so the lack of checkpoints isn't that bad. This is also a mission I had to grind up ammo for when I failed I think, because the game doesn't refill your ammo when you fail. Great design. (It's not a bad mission because "escort mission bad" it's a bad mission because the design is horrible.)
Number 6: I think I already spent like 5 minutes talking about this somewhere so I'll just say... yup. (Oof, yeah, the six lurkers man. What a fuckin' shitshow.)
Number 5: they have insane health, they're just as fast as the fastest bike so they're fuckin' impossible to catch up to, there's no aim assist so good luck ever shooting them, especially if you're on uneven terrain, no ammo for the blue gun and the yellow gun does jack shit, and all the usual car bullshit applies. Also don't forget that they blow up in an enormous explosion that always kills your car. Plus this mission had no checkpoints at all. Have fun grinding ammo. Pretty sure this was the only actual mission I nearly rage-quit on. XD (Yep, he pretty much mentioned all of that. It's like they don't have the experience to recognize the difference between "difficulty" and shitty design or something. Strange.)

    • @agroed
      @agroed 2 дня назад +1

Number 4: Mostly just the class 3, especially after you'd actually beaten it the first time where the rubberbanding gets completely absurd, nice glitch BTW. The others were perfectly fine. All the regular car bullshit applies, but the enemy AI is designed to constantly fuck you over by driving you into walls. Once you become part of the pack it's a restart situation, you're completely screwed. Also the jump only works half the fuckin' time, and it's integral for the class 3 track. That was probably 80% of my restarts right there. Not to mention how poorly designed the map is. You literally have to slow down to go off a jump so you don't smash into the ceiling, even without boosting. Also if you take any damage at all, just restart. (He says he's not a fan of racing missions in non-racing games. This is literally a racing game though. The majority of the game is spent in a vehicle. YES! HE CRASHED INTO THE CEILING! XD I knew you could do it! Had to keep the game from doing that to me several times. Masterpiece BTW. "Slow down, we didn't design the track properly.")
Number 3: Another perfect example of a mission designed to make you fail. Especially during the stand-off section it spawns enemies inside the fuckin' asshole of your escorts. That's toward the end of the mission too. I'm pretty sure this one has no checkpoints, and it's hella long. Also there's that laser room and good fuckin' luck getting through there without taking damage. I think I beat this one on the first try, but only because of my situational awareness. They even take away your radar to make you fail. No surprise there. (I didn't know about the friendly fire thing. I shot them with the shotgun a couple times and they were fine.)
Number 2: YUP! HOED AWN DAX! Fucking insane rubber-banding combined with all the other car bullshit. (Lol, inconsequential to the story, that was the best part. He actually said I would rather play Big the Cat's missions. I rest my case, this game is terrible. ruclips.net/video/Fv22Lj5PvPs/видео.htmlsi=Zovkj9QwjXic-QcH&t=694 This was fucking hilarious. And to answer your question, yes, they playtested this mission. It's going exactly as planned. Again, I stress, this is literally a racing game.)
      Honorables
Destroy Bomb Bots: fucking absurd HP, no way to avoid damage because your aim assist only works at the exact range that the bots can shoot you and there's no indicator for when they're going to shoot, thank fuck they changed this for Jak 3. Also have fun grinding up ammo.
Protect Samos: No radar combined with unfair enemy spawns and getting shot by ships that you can't shoot back at effectively. Think I beat this first try though. Not hard, just really unfair.
Get the Heart: I don't think I had any trouble with this one. There were actually like, health pickups, can you imagine? New enemy type is hard to deal with given the shittiness of the camera and broken aim assist though.
Escort Sig: I mean, this was essentially Naughty Dog pulling out all the stops for padding. One inconsequential checkpoint combined with trial and error platforming and chock-full of first-time player traps. So much fun dude, what a triumph.

    • @agroed
      @agroed 2 дня назад +1

Number 1: Destroy Ship (Hero mode) Granted using hero mode is cheating but, yeah, I've heard this is fucking miserable. No aim assist combined with inverted left-stick aiming combined with no health combined with floaty enemies with a tiny hitbox that bounce around everywhere when you hit them that get stuck under the rail and you can't shoot them but they can shoot you. What a banger. It was already annoying on normal mode. I can't imagine having less health to do it with. Pretty sure there are very few checkpoints too. (He's clearly having a hard time because he can't aim with how shit the controls are which is understandable, but yeah, I can still see how this mission would be awful. So fun of Naughty Dog to turn off invincibility for this one mission. Very cool of them.)
The final assault on the metal head nest would've been pretty tough without a headset as well (which obviously no one had at the time) considering you don't have a radar and you have all those jumpy enemies, plus no health. Don't know how the checkpoints are though.
The invisible metal heads in the forest was also a pain. Surprised he didn't mention that one, but maybe that's just my colorblindness coming into play, but also no health, super accurate enemies, and no checkpoints.
"In conclusion, I think Jak II is as difficult as it is because I don't think the game was that well designed." Oh my god, they can be saved. My brother has seen the light. Hallelujah! Funny thing is, Jak 3 is just as shitty but in vastly different ways. I feel like I've seen an entire character arc take place though.
Great video bud, very enjoyable and cathartic.

I don't struggle with drill platform turret mission (I even beat on my second try in hero mode), the sewer escort mission doesn't phase me and I can cheese the slum mission easily. The only mission that usually gives me shit is the race with Erol because of how bad the rubber banding is.

  • @AngelStar291
    @AngelStar291 10 месяцев назад +2

10- I do agree here, but there is a trick to this. When I streamed the game. There's a ramp you go to going straight from the portal, climb it and grind on the top rail that's carrying the crates and get that first, then go down the curve to go to the other longer path to the other well, after that jump down to the left and the rest are straightforward.
9 - For me probably the hardest platforming/adventure section of the game. Checkpoint system is BS and the enemies are very aggressive.
8- I do this very exact tactic for this mission. Actually I think dodging all the enemies was intended for this mission, because I think the enemies don't stop coming. I could be wrong here though...
7 - This mission does suck I agree.
6 - I don't find these missions that bad. I may be the black sheep here, but I think they are worse in Jak 3.
5 - I. HATE. THIS. PIECE. OF. SHIT. MISSION. Second worst in my opinion.
4 - I do agree that they are hard, but they are fun. I like practicing the shortcuts and stuff.
3 - Though I do agree this mission to be annoying, I don't think it's as bad as people make it out to be. I mean the guys will tell you when there are enemies crawling down the ceiling or if they are coming from behind and they stay behind for you to destroy the ones that shoot the electrical beams so they don't get hit by them. Yes, it's annoying but the guys let you know what is happening so you can react so I dunno. The only really annoying part with this mission is the last room with all the enemies coming straight at once. That part I can see why people get mad. Other than that, I don't think it's the worst thing ever.
2 - WORST. MISSION. IN. THE. GAME. I HATE THIS STUPID RACE WITH ERROL! So yes I agree, I also have a personal vendetta with Errol because of this stupid mission...I hate this guy.
Honorable mentions: For the bomb bots I just stand underneath and shoot them while they are moving just stand underneath them. Makes the mission rather tame. Protecting Samos in Haven Forest really depends on RNG IMO, sometimes I have good luck and save him really easily, or at times I just get screwed over...The Weapons lab is just natural hard platforming to me. Eh...the titan suit water part was much worse IMO.
1 - OMG yes I have done Hero Mode and I am still stuck on this very exact mission. In Normal Mode, yes the mission is whatever I agree. But in Hero Mode, this mission is a WHOLE nother beast entirely. I am still stuck on this very mission. I can't get through the first part. There's a whole wikia about this mission in Hero Mode. It shows how stupid this is.
Despite that though, I do enjoy the game for what it is. Yes Jak 3 is better IMO, but I do enjoy Jak 2. But I do agree Hero Mode is not worth it. People will get stuck on that Drill platform mission in that game, no matter what happens. If people say they got it on their first try, they're downright WRONG! Great video man. Your list was good.

this is how I would rank jak 2's hardest missions
    10. blow up ammo in fortress
    9. protect site in dead town
    8. get seal piece at dig
    7. blow up strip mine eco wells
    6. attack the metal head nest
    5. rescue friends in fortress
    4. destroy 5 hellcat cruisers
    3. get seal piece at water slums
    2. destroy ship at drill platform
    1. hunt haven forest metal heads
I'm surprised you didn't include the haven forest metal heads mission in this list. It gave me much more trouble than any other mission in the game, and as a kid I probably spent years stuck on that mission. There's and OpenGoal mod for Hero Mode+ that makes most of the game much more difficult, where the hardest levels are
5 Free Lurkers (takes a while to find a good strategy)
4 Escort the Kid (listen to the guards if you want to beat it)
3 Destroy Bomb Bots (needs the right strategy)

You certainly mentioned a couple of the hard missions for me. Some on your list were my favourites. I played this as an adult so my first strategy was to learn the city to get around easily. This made all the escort driving a challenge but not the most difficult. I know that city like the back of my hand. I'm 68 and my Grandson is 10 so I told him I hadn't played this for at least a decade and bet I could do 'get to stadium mission on the first go. His jaw dropped when I did it with 30 seconds to spare. Back to the topic; the very worst and I mean WORST was the Guru who with the falling symbols.

Racing for the orbs is about the only thing I find hard in jak 2. Hero mode is fun, but nothing outside the turrent mission is too hard. It's just about how you approach the game knowing how it works. Like the bomb bots die very easily if you just crouch under them and uppercut and spam it.
Idk maybe I've played this game too many times to growing up since it came out to say anything but the dig turret mission on hero mode is about the only mission that can be annoying if you aren't on your A game.
Like you can pick off mobs very effectively in jak with the rifle if you just take your time. You can make jak walk very slow/move hardly at all and it'll actuvely engage his auto aim. It's great for sniping enemies or with the vulcan for spraying with actively moving the camera.

i love jak 2 to death and will continue replaying it every year but god damn do i love watching videos rip into the bad missions. When jak 2 is good it's heaven on a ps2 disk, but when it's bad it's insufferable

    10. Never had too much difficulty with this one even as a kid. Generally can get 4 done in under a minute, and clear the mission with around 27 seconds on the clock left
    9. Bit trickier, what it really boils down to are just knowing the enemy placements and planning accordingly.
    8. Figured out this one as a kid without looking it up. Learned that punching wasn't just an attack, but a movement option
    7. similar to 10, I never failed this mission too often. the simple advice is to just pay attention to the radar. when the blue dot is flashing, shoot in that general area as much as possible.
    6. make it a habit to swap vehicles frequently. and always fly low. Every one of those the cops will be after you anyway. the least you can do is avoid vehicles crashing into you
    5. see first sentence in #6, but yeah this mission is definitely a pain. The biggest reason being way too difficult to refill your ammo, which you NEED, but also because it actually forces you to fly high leading to many KGs crashing into you to destroy your vehicle. I beat this one dying in the final cruiser explosion
    4. Fuck. ALL OF THESE. they control like fucking ASS. Is this what vehicle missions feel like for everyone that hates vehicle missions? Unironically if they controlled like the vehicles in the overworld, they wouldn't even be bad.
    3. Fun fact this one is hard because of a developer mistake. You were actually supposed to get a checkpoint after the cutscene, but it was never implemented. this one is hard, but I don't think to the same degree as the previous 2.
    2. this one is for sure a challenge, but I can mostly handle it due to as stated before, vehicles at least control better in the overworld.
HM1: once again the main difficulty is just running out of ammo
HM2: I maintain this is entirely dictated by luck
HM3: never had a problem with this one
HM4: unironically one of the easiest missions for me.
    1. Yep absolutely. Fuck everything about this mission.

I just finished Jak 2 & 3. I finished 1 a couple years ago. As a kid Jak 2 seemed hard but playing it as a young adult, I didn't struggle like I thought I would. I did die a couple of times but not enough to rage quit. Did anyone else have a similar experience of it being hard as a kid and easier as an adult?

    10. Easy as an adult. Tough when I played as kid.
    9. Yeah, a bit tough but not too bad. Key is to know the triggers for enemy spawns. You can kill the first four enemies in that first hallway before any of the reinforcements come in. Those reinforcements' spawn trigger is after you turn the first corner of the walkway. Then just vulcan fury stunlock your way into the room at the end where the trigger for the end of the infinite respawns ends.
    8. Dark bomb into water then hover baord out. But yes, casually, on a first playthrough it's a pain. The dash method is also very nice. Or you can be a tryhard and hover glitch high above and out.
    7. Dead easy. Just gotta watch the minimap, once you realise that it's a cinch.
    6. Annoying but middle of the difficulty scale. If they take a long time you just need to make sure the passenger side is facing the checkpoint. The worst part is the kamikaze krimzon guard, but they be avoided by watching the minimap for large red dots and evading them by ducking underneath traffic.
    5. Yeah no notes. This mission is a pain, mostly because of the kamikaze krimzons. Guards tend to drop a lot of vulcan fury ammo.
    4. No notes, completely agree but it's a skill issue at the same time. I'm just not good at driving games. Also: "OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY", Dax shut the fuck up!
    3. Annoying, definitely not easy. But very manageable. Just a matter of using the right tools for the right job. Scatter gun for early parts with some blaster and save all vulcan fury for final encounter. Make sure to just tap instead of holding since it only takes a few shots to kill the enemies.
    2. Fuckin' hard, no notes. I actually saw one of the most competitive Jak 2 speedrunners lose a 100% run to this because he only got a silver.
    1. Haven't tried it on Hero Mode but I believe you. For me the hardest is probably city race with bombots somewhere in the top 3 as well.

Number 8, you can dark bomb the water and destroy the sentry, then you can jetboard through the water. Also number 5 has an exploit where you can destroy the closest 2, return to resistance HQ and upon talking to Torn again, it resets the alert but not the cruisers left to destroy. Then go to next nearest 2, return to base etc. Its still hardish, but much less than all in one go. Especially the hoverbike guards are pain in the ass when they constantly kamikaze you and destroy every vehicle near.

I found a trick that makes the escort and krimson guard mission easier is by using the scatter gun, it knocks down the guards on the ground and they can’t fire when you pass them.

The city race, the actual tournament racing, the On the rails turret segments, and if you didn’t have the timing right it was destroy the eco wells in the mines while you have a timer. As a kid I always struggled with these.

    Number 8 mission
You know you can just jetboard through the docks becuase they dont have time to fall out of the drop ship and shoot you kek, funny how people had trouble with this mission
Number 7: Not that hard, just keep an eye on the minimap to see where the bad guys are coming from. ALso theres a mechanical cheat you can exploit, if you dont rotate your camera, the guards wont spawn behind you or AT ALL, try to keep the camera at a specific field of view for minimal spawnage.
NUmber 5: Bro i ddid this one my first try as a kid, the trick is to go directly behind them on a path where theyre going STRAIGHT, with no turns, it takes exactly 13 hits with the vulcan barrel to kill one. Which is 2.5 seconds, pretty much. Dont start shooting them from the side and it wont be a problem.
12:36 Thats not the Dig, thats the Platform. And yes its only hard on Hero Mode, its almost impossible.
The rest are well deserved places. Theyre all hard. Nice video man.
    My top 7 hardest missons:
    7. Breaking into the fortress DUH.
    6. Escorting lurkers, simply because they can fall in the water when you destroy the ship and its game over, its so annoying, also by the time they climb onto you, youre dead.
    5. Errols city race, the race literally has to be flawless to win its absurd, the class races are much easier since its 5 laps and no mandatory rings, just gotta learn the map a little.
    4. Protecting Samos in the forest, it sucks cus theres no minimap to exploit the guards where they are, samos dies in a few hits, the camera is fucking broken and sabotages you against the jetpack guards since theyre out of frame constantly.
3.Destroying the drill at the Dig, man thats so cringe, the guards there DO NOT stop shooting no matter the range, they intentionally ram into you when you are close range on the jetboard and stop you in place to get 3 more hits asap and youre dead, they stun lock you in place if you dont get off the board and kill them. Your options are to kill all the guards and do this slowly and lose patience all the time, or try to do this fast with the jetboard and hope you dont get hit by anything.
    2. Getting to the top of the weapon factory 💀
    1. The turret mission on Hero Mode 💀
It took me 3 hours to finish it once....
