Lost already! If the major scale is whole whole half whole whole whole half why is on of the white keys missed out? Surely between E and F sharp that's one and a half notes??
The leap from E to F# is a whole step (the second whole step leap in the sequence you just wrote out, D to E is the 1st whole step leap) I think you're counting 'E, F, F#' as 3 half steps by mistake - it's 3 notes BUT it's only 2 half steps (which equals 1 whole step) , as in E to F is a half step, then F to F# is a half step.
