      Hey there! I really need your help! I just recently (because of your video) learned about major scales having relative minor scales and vice versa and why and how they function. I'm having trouble applying it, though. Could you PLEASE rescue me by examining and explaining what the heck is going on with KT Tunstall's sone 'The Universe & I"? I'm trying to create a bridge as in that song, but I'm confused as to what's occurring with the harmony and how she's implementing the Bminor scale in the bridge after the main song uses DMajor. Something about the structure of the song completely baffles me as to how to transfer this structural harmonic idea in my OWN creation. My sing is also in the key of DMajor, but whenever I try to make a bridge section starting with Bminor, it doesn't gel. Any clue why or what I can do?!

      Very well explained and simple method of enjoying music without all the technical attachments that go with disciplinary musical education. Bravo, my friend! I have been a guitar for 55 years and I am learning to play the piano with RUclips instructional. You have made the journey wonderful, simple and encouraging. My knowledge from the guitar helps with all of that necessary understanding of inversions and scales. Keep up the good work. I will follow you.☮️💜🎶 Music is the invisible medication for us all.

    Yes, please, to a video on grace notes. This video was great! I'm self-teaching and am at a point where I am comfortable with a fair number of chords and changing between them, but now need to know what to do with the chords besides just repeating them until the next change. The info here is exactly what I need to move on, with ideas simple enough to get started with, and then moving on to more complicated material that will keep me busy for quite a while if I explore it deeply enough. Thanks! (Going over now to join your Patreon.)

    Very useful, and catering for a range of beginner-level abilities - thanks. I started playing with Simply Piano about 5 weeks ago and I realised watching this that I'm already learning something almost identical with 1-5 on the left hand and the major or minor triads on the right, broken up in to 1 / 3-5 and 1 / 2-5 patterns. So your video has given me some things to try out later when I get a bit better.

    • @PianoFromScratch
      @PianoFromScratch  8 месяцев назад +1

      Each time will different depending on the song, rhythm, chords etc as well as what you like. Takes some trial and error really, go slow at first to find something that sounds good to you. Maybe just do a couple of variations to start with, don’t try too much or that’s when you’re most likely to go off course.
      Like I mentioned in the vid too, takes experience and best thing is to build up a vocabulary of things to try by learning other songs/copying other players etc and through that you will start to develop your ear for it too. Good luck and stick with it! 👍
