Another quality repair there Dave
I have one of those Gates sonic tension meters which I bought over ten years ago used it regularly at the time you inputted the gates belt no into the machine then held the microphone near the belt on its longest run then gave it a twang it has a traffic light system which when the tension was correct you get the green for ok can’t remember when I last used it not really needed now but a nice bit of kit anyway.
Nice job as always Dave I have never done one on a 1.9 but done a few 1.5 dci belts was interesting to see the difference in the procedure
Brilliant information in your video. Going to do the belt on my trafic 1.9dci in the next couple of week. Defo be watching this video again a few times before I crack on 👍👍
Dave you saved me today! Your video was super helpful and detailed as well. As a little simbol of grattitude I have liled and subscribed to your channel. Thanks bro!!!!!
Brilliant in depth video for the timing belt water pump etc, I've just bought a vivaro and this video makes it so so much easier to try yourself without the costly garage bills...
Many thanks.
ps just need to buy some pin alignment tools
thank you Dave.
Brilliant Dave, got the video last night kept it to I finished my night shift this morning, really enjoyed the longer video , and as usual well explained and demonstrated mate 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
best youtube vid I have seen! thank you sooo much dave for your detailed and instructive advice...love the way you explain in plain language 👍
Fantastic video Dave I'm a technician myself and love watching other guys work, on my van after fitting a new timing belt the alternator clutch seized up broke the belt, and went under the cam cover and put the van out of timing, this was 6 months after so possibly worth fitting a new clutch to the alternator while replacing the belt.
Did you bend any valves?
Top job As always Dave she’s ready for a lot more miles ahead, interesting way to tension the timing belt watching and learning here thank you very much 👍
Cheers Igor
Excellent video....repeating many similar comments here, but thanks very much for taking the time to record and explain in great detail!
You're very welcome!
Very informative and clear Dave - thanks for putting it all together 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for this. Taking the mystery and nonsense out of what should be a simple procedure. Going to do my brother in law's van.
Followed you video today to change the crankshaft seal and after doing the van I forgot about the tension moving the camshaft back one tooth so soon as I turn the key I knew it wasn't right so took it all back off and noticed the locking key you used was the silver one however that doesn't lock in and moves out of position and it's actually the black key which has a threaded end and screws into the engine hole. Anyway perfect video with good instructions and information cheers 🍻
Yes there are a couple of different types. Some fit into a slot in the crankshaft(silver pin) and some press against the crankshaft web and need to be screwed in. That's why there are different pins in the kit
Very thorough explanation. Used your Amazon shop last week 👍
Awesome, thank you!
thanks for the vid. used it to help with my 1.9 vivaro. very infomative!
Fantastic in depth job there Dave!
Cheers Simon
Glad you put that up, sound as a bell !
From the Sunny South East.
Très bonne vidéo très bien expliqué et bien filmer Merci a vous pour le partage de votre travail 👍
merci
Fantastic & informative video, well done chap.
Brilliant video Dave Thank you great information
Top video Dave. That old timing belt was ready to go.
It sure is
Helped me on my volvo v40. I ended up not being able to reach the locking hole though, so I marked off the pulleys and tried my hardest not to turn them. It's not so bad if your belt also has timing marks
Fantastic detail on an important job to get right👍 just not over the moon about stripping half the van apart to get to it 🤣 it seems like most jobs on these vans require the front off🙈 more complicated if the van has Air Con I suspect.
Brilliant video Dave
Nice job ,some brilliant simple ideas and tips 👍
Thanks! 👍
Dave another great vid I belive that device ya torque to 11nm is to remove slop from the belt I'm fair sure a few tugs on the belt would do the same and I'm gunna seal your idea with the tensioning by using the hertz app were meant to use a similar device in work for tightening timing belts on machines but it's allways missing
Some great details. Cheers Dave 👍
Cheers Ian
Verry well explained, experience talks👌 That Hz vs Nm tool hack was great :) Belt will play Mozart Symphony now 😂😂😂
By the flying sandals of hermes thank you for this video mucka rebuilt the head and had to set the timeing and with no wee marks i was like rgt okay ya wanna play games do ye ffs pulling my where and tear out until finding this wee beauty top video 😀
Great video, perfectly explained thanks
Wicked video mate very in depth enjoyed it 😎👍 what app did you use for the HZ meter?
Thanks for sharing Dave
Great wee vid thanks enjoyed watching that way to download car app thanks again
Great guide, thank you so much 😊
Excellent video! I don't understand why the pre-tensioner are necessary? Shouldn't the belt get correct tension as long as the frequenzy is as described?
thanks for the video mate
Great video, loved the detail and explanation. I need to do my head gasket, water in the oil and feels like the engine is partially locked up when starting? Bit of moisture in the cylinder? Second good battery hooked up got her started. ...... Wish me luck. Anybody know the torque settings and pattern?
Dave when installing the crank seal i use a thin feeler gauge and gently push and move it around the crank to feed the seal onto the shaft. Just another technique and works with some seals. Hope this helps someone
Good tip, I'll remember that one
love your video so so honest
thanks for your video. If i mark the tension out now on the cogs, does that mean a new belt
can be fitted if the old one snaps? will marking out like you have done
prevent a write off or huge cost?
Hi you don't happen. To remember the name of the app that you used for the timing belt adjustment do you? Many thanks Nick
Super informative video
Hi Dave, a great video thats helped me a lot, but im finding it hard to get the spares IE the belts theres 2 on my renault ones for the timing and ones for the alternator and air con
also I cannot find the tensioner and water pump kit, do you have any advice??
Regards Dave
Dave, greetings. I am interested in a detail. Did you remove the crankshaft pulley by hand or did you have to use a puller?
Thx.
lol i took a water pump off a matiz last year with tippex makes on the water pump . never seen a timed water pump before
Please can you tell me what the electric plug is on top timing belt side of the engine mine has a snapped wire also I seem to be missing a fuel shut off switch. Any help would be appreciated I'm currently watching this video while Changing my crankshaft pulley seal 👌
Wasnt eurocarparts that ya got the radiator from was it? Had this problem few time there.. Usually someone else's returned box the sell back on.
Hello my belt snapped while driving..... Im going to fit one and see if im lucky, what should i be expecting to happen when i turn the key after timing and manually turning the engine two revaluations?
Can you check the frequency one year after the instalment to see if the pre-owner did it right?
what is the name of this application, what do you do, measure belt tension
bravo pretty working can tell me please sir how many kilometers you are changing the distribution couroi and what years and your van thank you in advance i will subscribe to your channel greetings see you soon on your channel
Doing one of these belts as we speak but having a lot of trouble getting the belt on! I've got the lines on the belt lined up properly, tried getting it on in different pulley orders but it just seems as though it's too small (even though it's not), am I doing something wrong? Tensioner is all the way off too 🤔
hello, if I don't have the pin to block the crankshaft, I can use something similar, do you have the size of the pin?
Excellent video Dave......some serious tips there....every day is a school day.......just out of curiosity whats your opinion on using locktite on the tensioner nut and crankshaft bolt and are ya tempted to put a spanner on the tensioner nut after youve torqued it or is it only me that does that....thanks
No, i have faith in the torque spec
Great watch 👍🏻
Thank you 👍
How many pounds/foot for main tensioner bolt please? Also crank bolt?
Can't i just tighten the tensioner until i get 85 hz?
Can you tell me the diameter of the fixing tool? thanks !!!
Alright bud wen the Crank pin is in duz it stop the Crank moving both ways cheers
To insert new oil seal Just insert crancshft sproket opposite and tight to push oil seal in.
I would not advise that on this design. The inner part of the seal will flip
Good video, but what about small pieces of drilled metal?
What pieces of metal?
I have done around 50 if these belts easy belt to do
Hi could u tell me the name of app struggling to find it on I phone many thanks
i show it at 45:07
I thought that degrees was a daft idea but tuning it .
In a workshop or outside ? good luck on that .
Degrees? What you on about?
@@davesterl After torcing them down on a lot of vehicles you use degrees to turn to the right amount or have you not replaced old belts on cars and vans ?
@@johnhall3827 are you on drugs?
@@davesterl Did not explain clearly i am used to self ticheners and gauges you put on the belt .
The thought of using a tuning fork in a noisy environment is pointless .
The degrees i mentioned was to tighten the tensioner and other bolts .
Hope this explains it better .
Yes, it is not clear what you are saying due to the poor grammar and misspelling of your posts. I will answer your questions, the meter is reading frequency in hertz not decibels. I think you are confusing the two. I have changed hundreds of timing belts and chains on an array of makes and models of cars and vans. If you wish you can check some of them out on my channel in the playlists. You might learn something instead of posting insolent comments
Megszámoljuk a fogakat a a sját jelölésünkkel, rátenni a másik szíjjat ... csak jó lehet.... nem kell a sok misztikum!
You can do it whatever way you want. I show the way you are supposed to do it
All front parts need to remove?
No.
