    I'll say this: I saw an F-22 demonstration at the Reno National Air Race, It is hands down the LOUDEST fighter ever built. I thought the noise champ was the F-4 in afterburner and until the F-22 it was. All hail the new noise champion - The F-22 Raptor!

      Well the F-22 which is twin-engined like the Phantom IMHO is louder with no smoke due to almost 30-years of progress on engine design.

    That vector thrust is amazing. You can always tell when it's vectoring because the tail of the jet almost breaks loose from the trajectory. Almost looks like the jet is doing a power slide in the air. I want oneeee!

  • @JPieman

    Thrust Vectoring. The nozzles of the engine actually move, thus it can do those kinds of maneuvers.

      They do not need to if they want stealth they can just buy it, like Italy,Denmark, England ect.......
      Do not forget Israel the maker of one of those is buying 35. Because they tested it and like the idea of a aircraft that can upgrade a entire fleet of gen4 to gen4.5 think about add 1 f-35 information center to a squadron of planes and it means you do not have to buy a squadron of gen 4.5 and only cost 1 plane.A lot of countries wont even use this plane as a fighter/bomber it will be used to upgrade inventory.

    • @mattslattery4107
      @mattslattery4107 8 лет назад

      Your rt propaganda soaked brain is turning to mush about 3 countries doubled there order after they got a taste of this thing.
      South Korea just signed a deal for 40 planes (7 bill) England doubled there order and now Japan wants a pile of them.
      Also Israel increased there order because they want some Stovl aircraft (they said for sure there runways would be taken out fast in a war) A few other countries are considering adding the Stovl to there order of (A)models.

    I've been in this argument before many a times. Here's the real low down. The su-35 had ONLY 8 units built ready for combat and only 2 that have been completely setup for combat. To add to this issue. Every one assumes that the Raptor will only carry AMRAAMS. Ridiculous, the normal load out will be a combination of AMRAAMS, sidewinder and sparrow missiles. On top of that. The Raptors radar and ECM make it hard to target. The chaffes on the all the US fighters have a 88% success rate against missiles. While Russian chaffes have a 37% success rate. The Su35 might be slightly more maneuverability but the Sidewinder missile does a u-turn in air once locked on and can be fired from any angle. Add to that US pilots have training and you have Air Superiority. That is what makes us a Superpower.

    • @Gameballer420
      @Gameballer420 Год назад +2

      "can be fired from any angle"
      High off bore missiles can't be fired from any angle. They can be fired high off boresight. Aka 90°. Russians also have the R-73 which is a 40° HOB missile aaaaaand I just realized I'm replying to a comment that is 8 years old lol.

      Exterminence your right it's probably not completely useless...... it would make a good paper-weight. I have friends in the Air Force and it is a well known fact it is an utter pig, go do some research. it cant even spend an hour in the air without needing 3 hours maintenance all for the sake of being stealth?? so are we saying it cant be detected on radar.......No in-fact the F22 is picked up just the same as any other aircraft by long wave radar, the only thing its not picked up by, short wave, awesome so its not invisible but to not show up on half of a wave spectrum you shortened the wings to oblivion which made it less manoeuvrable which also forced it to have to go faster to stay in the air, so you have to burn more fuel which means put it up against a Eurofighters P.I.R.A.T.E and it lights up like a bloody christmas tree. Its a Joke!!

      @reversegreenpotato 9 лет назад +1

      timx2222 True. Good point. But I thought even 175 knots to almost a stand still in that direction in less than a second or two would be pretty brutal?

    • @timx2222
      @timx2222 9 лет назад

      phuc offenberg
      Well, remember it isn't a stand still, the plane and pilot are still moving forwards. Think of it not as the plane coming to a standstill and moving up, but more as the plane's direction changing quickly, so the pilot is pushed into his seat but also forwards. Not all the forces of the turn are affecting him negatively. But yeah, if it lasted longer it wouldn't be fun. 4-5 G's is the threshold where it usually gets uncomfortable and blood is pulled towards the bottom of the body, so if it were for an extended period the pilot could maybe start to black out, maybe lose consciousness.

    At Barksdale AFB, about 8 years ago, I saw what was by far the best vertical takeoff. Was a F15. Rolled down the runway, and what looked like the 150yd mark, he pulled straight back and went full throttle. The tail looked like it came within an inch of hitting the ground, and he went straight up about 500yds, and then pitched over and leveled off. Since then, I've been to several other military airshows(including there the very next year), and although they all have an F15 or F22 do an extreme vertical takeoff, none have every repeated what I saw that afternoon. Not one video here on youtube even comes close.

    • @SteinGauslaaStrindhaug
      @SteinGauslaaStrindhaug 10 лет назад +9

      Yes, modern fighters are actually always in a sense "out of control" they have flat and angeled aerofoils and a center of mass and lift etc. that makes them be inherently unstable, so it's impossible to control without computer stabilization. But this makes them very able to maneurvre very fast.

    • @patricklundstrom8376
      @patricklundstrom8376 10 лет назад +1

      It is aerodynamically unsound, without computers it wouldn't get off the ground. :)

      ***** When The JAS 39 Gripen was new the test pilot compeered in to sitting on the hood of a car and steering a bike going backwards while travelling forward at 70 kph...
      The computers are essential...

    • @Roger2465
      @Roger2465 10 лет назад

      Most modern aircraft are aerodynamically unstable. Computers allow you to fly it in a straight line or turn. However if you loose airspeed you loose lift(stall) so the computers controlling the surface controls won't help since thier is no air going over the wings. With Thrust vectoring you can maintain control and point your nose down to get airflow over the wings and regain control.

    • @patricklundstrom8376
      @patricklundstrom8376 10 лет назад +1

      Omni Potent The Gripen crash in Stockholm was due to a tug of war between the pilot input and the computer correcting because of imminent stall. Solution? Now when the computer and pilot don't agree, the computer ignore the pilot. :)

      +John19501000 The Typhoon, is an energy fighter, it was built to have great energy retention. the f22 is basically just a fighter that can get the job done asap, originally the WW2 Typhoon was to energy fight for example, BnZ (Boom and Zoom), zoom climbing after diving on enemy, and since it was so heavy it could build up speed very quickly on a dive. The F22 to my opinion is like the buffed up version of the F84, it doesn't have to be a beast in each and every way, just complete the objective, avoid and hostile combat, and rtb asap. But Russian jets, they have been charmed with Stalinium, explains their incredible manuevers. lol

    • @barrierodliffe4155
      @barrierodliffe4155 8 лет назад

      The Typhoon is a great fighter in every way, the F 22 is so expensive they stopped production, it still costs so much it rarely flies.
      The WW II Typhoon and later Tempest were not much heavier than the
      P 51 and much lighter than the P 47. The Tempest which like the lightweight Spitfire could dive on the enemy, both could also maneuver and climb better than most fighters.
      The F 22 only has to be better than an old Mig flown by poorly trained pilots, the same ass the F 15.
      Just as well because the F 22 which has so called stealth has little else to offer.

    • @LouSaydus
      @LouSaydus 5 лет назад

      f-22 cant really go into a vertical stall, not with an experienced pilot anyways or unless its overloaded. The afterburner provides more thrust than the aircraft weighs with fuel so it could take off vertically if there was some way to keep it stable at slow speeds.

    When everyone's got a stealth fighter then what? Its like going back in time! I think the USAF and NAVY are going to have to re-open TOP GUN in California to teach advanced dog fighting maneuvers for today's "Stealth Fighters" because eventually when Russia and china get stealth fighters like the F22 and you have 2 fighter jets closing in on each other and they cant see each other until visual range well then its back to the good old Red Baron days before fighter pilots had radar and could only make visual contact and had to dog fight! We are becoming so advanced its taking us backwards!

    • @inigomontoya4109
      @inigomontoya4109 10 лет назад +6

      That's not exactly how it works. Stealth is only as good as the sensors that are detecting it. It's kind of like the back and forth between armor and weaponry. As stealth technology increases so does the technology to detect said technology, nothing will ever be totally invisible to the sensor array's of a highly technologically advanced country such as the US. The trick is being able to identify what those sensors are picking up as what they really are, but likely in 50 years the F-22 will be just as visible to a sensor array as the F-15 is today. That being said, i don't think the dog fight will ever truly die. If you have two jets that are equally matched both in pilot skill and technology, they will eventually close on each other into visual range.

      Stealth allows you to sneak in...look at this F22, she can turn on a dime. What a dogfighter ! If you're saying the pilots need training on maneuvering basics, yeah, can't hurt. Not a video game up there like most people think. To think a war will be fought w/ missles at a stand-off distance is a nice thought, but prepare for anything, because when hostilities break out anything is possibe. You better know your airplane and be prepared , otherwise you will probably " kiss the sky".

      Stealth is useless, the tax payer is getting ripped off its a gimmick, long wave radar from the 1940's would still pick up a F22 today and thats the truth, you are compromising safety for an experimental inferior fighter when have you seen an F22 win at war games?? never its a dog and so is the F35 too many compromises.

      +John19501000 The problem my friend is that you compare older fighter programs with a new program like the F-35 one, which is a big mistake i think. This is a fifth generation fighter with state-of-the-art technologies that never been used in any other program before, above that this is going to be the main USN & USAF fighter for some upcoming generations, so i 'm not convinced that it's gonna be a turkey as i am sure that those people know what they really need to get their job done, finally one more thing delaying doesn't mean failure as the f-22 program (which is a successful one) started in 1981 but the f-22 itself has entered service in 2005 after a lot of developments.

      @k4l4sh77 8 лет назад

      +Wafeek Hassan The F35 is an Air-to-ground jet, not really a fighter which the F22 is so you'd have to buy those, too. I hope you are right though but my problem with the F35 is not that it can't be a good yet hugely overpriced plane, it isn't what we need. We don't need first-strike aircraft we need defensive stuff - but that all comes down to opinion in the end

      But at what price? You can buy 3 Typhoon fighters and have change for the price of one F22. Ask a general if he would prefer fewer but slightly more capable or more and slightly less capable. In war attrition counts more than maximum ability. Apart from which the Typhoon has defeated F22s in more than a few exercises.

    The best takeoff I have ever seen was an f-22 at the Avalon airshow just outside of Melbourne Australia. Instead of going vertical, he got to just opposite me in the crowd and did a tight, left bank away from us exposing it's underbelly, and that noise 😮😯😮😎😎😎🤗🤗
    That crackle, I'll NEVER forget! The thing that really peeved me, was that my phone shut down because it got too hot (40deg Celsius) so I got no footage.
    Seriously, just as it started its takeoff run. 🥺😡

    Brilliant show and a pretty amazing aircraft but very very expensive. A Typhoon does 'Brakes-off' to Mach 1.6 at 36,000 ft in less than 150 secs. EE Lightnings in the 60s were doing standing start to vertical climb,at optimum climb profile, to reach 36,000 ft in under three minutes.

    The F-22
    Has the latest technology and weapons systems available today.
    Combat radious is very good.
    Can hold their own v.s. Russian aircraft if pitted against jet v.s. jet.
    Makes the newest F-15 take a 2nd place back seat when compared all in all.
    A joy to fly for all of our high ranking officers and pilots who fly them daily
    Noble and fearless when actual air to air combat comes along anytime/anywhere.
    Todays technology needs todays most advanced aircraft and the answer is the F-22.

      stuckinthemud All of this information is due to the courtesy of the history channel and it's called dogfights of the future.
      Lets face it if and god forbid WW3 comes it will all be done in outer space,but the technologies in todays weaponry will also be used to fight future wars.
      The B-1 and B-2 bombers will be used to do battle against SAMs.
      The B-52 bomber won't have any kind of future because by the time that year and decade comes around,the last 90 bombers will have run out of parts unless BOEING comes up with plans to revamp and revitalize the entire fleet of jet bombers,and have them all totally computerized and updated with the latest late 21st through 22nd century technology.
      In fighter jets the F-15 will be on it's most highly sophisticated and updated innovations thanks due to the great crew at boeing who know what it takes.

    Yea, I agree. Both are still flying in various airforces around the world today. The Mig was more nimble especially in the horizontal fight; while the Phantom was more powerful and better suited for going verticle.
