A map of a dockyard filled with shipping containers needs to reflect what an actual dockyard would look like. Keep in mind that the individual containers need to be oriented and accessible to the crane. Add a terrain rule that it takes X turns to move a container. Magnetize the cranes claw and the containers. Imagine an Ork and a Marine battling it out on a moving container! Group containers by color. Large blocks of containers could provide platforms. Don't forget that doors on the containers could provide access tunnels to key objectives or as a shortcut to a location. Some kind of transport to move the containers off the map should be evident as well. Great job, Jay! You really stirred up a lot of creative thoughts of what could be done to a board idea like this!
What I want to know is, where y'all keeping all that terrain? Like. Is there just a shed of these insane boards at one of yalls houses. We'd be eating dinner on shipping containers if it was my place
Jay is the groundskeeper of a U-Haul storage facility. He lives on site and paints in his free time. Sean/Shawn/Shaun lives across the street and runs a U-Stor facility. A little EOD lore for y’all.
I really can't believe this channel isn't much bigger. The quality of work and the production value of your videos makes this one of my favorite channels. And I'm totes looking forward to what you do with that Reaver titan too
I'm from Northern Ireland, and one of our most famous landmarks is 2 titanic (pun intended) sized bright yellow ship building gantry cranes called Samson and Goliath... so what I'm saying is EoB we need a second crane and we need H&W put on the side 😂😂
One thing I'd do to help "explain" why the containers have different quantities would be to put some faction simbols on them. In the blue ones (the most plentiful) there could be some Imperial Army symbols while the reds could be Space Marines. In the grim darkness of the future, there's only logistics...
The different colour on the containers tirned out really cool. I like that there isn't an even number of the different colours. There never is in real logistic hubs.
One thing that may be useful is gluing your assembled terrain pieces together with acrylic caulk. it usually come in white and can be painted over, so it can even be used to fill gaps. It's non-permanent way of building large terrain pieces.
I have been mini painting since about 2001 and consistently since 2016. I have painted well over a thousand miniatures all by hand and have never owned or used an airbrush. This video further validates my decision. I've never seen anything EoB has done that I haven't liked, till now.
The end of the crane grapple and the inside top of the shipping containers would be the perfect place for magnet slots so that the crane could pick up the containers mid game..
i feel like the shipping container moving mode would make more sense to have a crane in two mirrored corners and a range to be able to move a single crate per turn if you control it, keeps normal terrain in an area and shiftable terrain in the other
Honestly I think this terrain would work really well with the new game mode the folks over at poorhammer podcast came up with where is 40k but if it was a co-op survival game called horde mode.
I love it! I was a little disappointed to not hear Deck-al and instead Dee-Kal. I know Dee-Kal is "correct", but it makes me giggle each time I hear Deck-al!
I really like the idea of the shifting shipping containers scenario; in the grim darkness of the future, there is only Jenga. The modelling and painting on these terrain pieces are both great. I like how the painting has a sort of 2,000AD grim, gritty and colourful look to it.
Something to consider for the containers, give them a wrap of masking tape and paint an off-set color strip or two on them. That will break up the single color mass and add visual variety to the stacks. I love that crane as well, thats a proper set piece for a table (and can have fun rules if you play Knights/Titans where a player can activate the crane to slam into the enemy walkers (or better yet...DROP A CONTAINER ON THEM)
The paint job on those containers looks great! And I was surprised by how nice the crane turned out, given what it looked like after the first coat of yellow.
I really like the game ideas you have for those containers. plopping them right in your enemy's line of sight sounds quite amusing. All of it turned out looking awesome!
I had an out of commission craftbot 3. Really the shot in the arm I needed to get this beast up and running. Took me 10 days but the monster is now printing!! Thx for the motivation!!
I really want to recreate the CoD shipment map and play kill team on it I just don’t have the shipping containers, but he does, so that duty now falls upon his shoulders It needs to happen
Hey, thanks for making videos. Your channel finally inspired me to start my first army. Im planning on doing an ultramarine army, but painting/playing them like the Black Consuls for uniqueness.
i just had the idea to kit bash that Craine to be some kind of titan tank like a tank that could hold its own against a titan or knight with ease it would work with the huge titan youll be building soon
You did an excellent job on this one! Very impressive on how you were able to tackle this large project and get it all done. I always want to print up one of these boards but I feel like it will use up a TON of resin
I like to sponge over with rhinox hide, which makes it look like old rusty machinery. You can then go in with the silver and hit areas where you'd get regular wear, where the steel is polished through.
This reminds me of the mayhem in one gaming store near me when we went through a pretty massive pile of the Reaper Bones shipping containers of different sizes for a storage yard for moderns/supers...a large shelf of them available for use there in a lot of fun options along with some cranes and similar...it also added another use for the cargo ship that was built a long while ago to have a port facility.
Could you put together a rule where the shipping containers move around based of stray fire? Maybe different rows of ‘trenches’ that ablate away removing cover, opening up line of sight, and covering over objective markers?
I liked the idea with the containers for a regular battle. The only thing I would do different is that you had to roll a D6 at the beginning of your turn, on a 5-6 you could move one container.
do love the complete shipping container board. Price for the containers over at Only Games is pretty steep.. 3 for $165.00 versus GW 3 for $60. May want to see if you can change that
Ya the price of the resin ones were a bit of a shock to us as well, but this is just our second month of doing this style of dropshipping so we are still working many things out. The FDM ones are a much better bang for their buck, doubley so with the crane.
That terrain would be great for playing the Fellwyrm rules GW released not too long ago. Speaking of Tyranids, got anything for Nidvember? Perhaps an old school kill team?
"Like a two year old with a chocolate bar on a hot day" best description ever and as a parent it instantly brought back memories of cleaning....well everything lol
This seems like a fun way to play. Maybe I could make myself some cardboard boxes, slap some corrugated paper on the outside, spray em up and stack em. Did you mention the size? I don't think you mentioned their size.
Inspires me to make more cool terrain! Also, is it possible to get the Orc Brewery and stage terrain pack already printed or does it only come as a file?
Looks great, but... Why did you make the doors open top and bottom, instead of side to side. Like, you know, actual shipping containers? How about some variants, like a tank for liquids, or an open top container?

When you do a Maze type Map/mission ...throw in a wildcard Monster to be the 'Minotaur'

red conteiners take X-1 turnes to move.

Been asking for a hobby space tour for a hot min! I need storage ideas for my own stuff
If I spent that much on plastic cubes, I don't think the wife would give me dinner
Storage is a very important topic! It gets adressed not often enough imo. I have the same problem.

That airbrush water trap is like a trombone spit valve. Empty both often people.

AWESOME!!! I have been looking for industrial equipment for 40K and that crane rocks. Thank you for the excellent STLs!

The shipping containers are great, but a few stencils on the sides of them would make them look more realistic/poppy
Thanks!
The end of the crane grapple and the inside top of the shipping containers would be the perfect place for magnet slots so that the crane could pick up the containers mid game..
Nice shelf in the back, better background for videos
i feel like the shipping container moving mode would make more sense to have a crane in two mirrored corners and a range to be able to move a single crate per turn if you control it, keeps normal terrain in an area and shiftable terrain in the other

Supper cool, I would love to play in that shipping yard
When Jay mentioned the two airbrushes, I had visions of him going John Woo on this terrain with one in each hand...
I really like the idea of the shifting shipping containers scenario; in the grim darkness of the future, there is only Jenga.

This feels like a perfect Necromunda Ash Wastes board waiting to happen
The paint job on those containers looks great! And I was surprised by how nice the crane turned out, given what it looked like after the first coat of yellow.
Cool table ! It reminds me the end of the ATeam movie !
Well well well. Someone's loving the new camera angle possibilities :)
That intro was perfect 🤌
I really like the game ideas you have for those containers. plopping them right in your enemy's line of sight sounds quite amusing. All of it turned out looking awesome!
you'd probably have to make it so all objectives have an unobstructive path towards either one or two deployment zones.
I love this intro
Jay is the coolest nerd on RUclips !
Man, this is what the Hobby is all about. Great stuff.
I’d like to see these be used for a game of Poorhammers WH40K Horde mode they just released.

50 shades of container sounds like a weird grimdark love story
turns out making a board out of modular pieces creates a fun game, who knew? For reals this is a great release, love how you painted it!
Thanks for all the great boards you make
Love those dog facts!! Thanks for showing the board layouts you were talking about! Thanks gents!! Fantastic as always!!!

Got it! So if I print enough crates, I can make a wall in my room with just 40k crates. Oh and I could try to do a 40k style Donkey Kong
Nothing is too big in the year 40000
Cool idea here: remake Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 maps for killteam!
U wild.
Have to say those colours are wonderful.
I know this is a painting channel but I would live to see a battle report from you guys using all of the awesome boards you have made!

Some simple STENCIL numbers and letters on the shipping containers would have looked cool .

Shoutout to nick, you do a lot nobody really notices
I'm praying you lads do a necromunda vid or two. One for your own gang custom made and another for the vehicles you'd add to the gang
You could ad the crane as an Objektive and who has it gets to move one container
the shipping containers look amazing
Kill Team terrain made of Jenga blocks.
For mass washing, just mixing black craft paint with water will do for this kind of project at such a mass scale

fun dog fact: A dog’s nose print is unique, much like a person’s fingerprint.
