Chaos Ogryn who are tired of being looked down upon and formed an Ogryn war band empowered by the dark gods and are happy to fight along side the big guns.
that small turret is by far the best looking way I've seen a 30K basilisk made into a 40K one... You mentioned you'd like some voidsmen or higher equipped units who serve more directly under the Alpha Legion, you could do that with some scions built out of Solar Auxilia maybe?
I'm loving the traitor guard content. I honestly havent found anything else as good for traitor guard, and you've really inspired me. I'd love to see you do a valkyrie/flyer for a traitor guard, or some chaos stormtroopers.
I don’t play 40K and I’ve only ever built Tamiya WWI and WW2 tanks, but I absolutely love the cartoonishness of these models. The proportions are wonky, but in a really good way. I think I might see if I can get hold of this model and put it next to my British Mk IV.
I think a Heavy Weapons Team would be really cool. I especially love the Death Kops of Krieg Heavy Bolter Team because of the poses and was wondering if you can recreate it / modify it. It has that "Oh shit we have to be careful" feeling to it with one of the Soliders prone helping the other feed the rounds into the gun. Its one of my favourite models because it actually shows a little snippet of war that isn't just heroic poses in each model
just a heads up, if you ever have a hole like that in the top of the tank, glue a panel on the inside and then you can just put epoxy, greenstuff in the top and smooth it in without building "up".
About the limpness problems… try putting a small amount of super glue in the joint, while the glue is wet start moving the gun up and down and keep doing this while the glue dries. When the glue has dried it still be movable and won’t have cured fixed, but there will be glue residue in the hinge that lets you position it as you like without limpness! :)
One of the coolest things about our hobby is the diy and personalizing stuff. Super appreciate the "multiple options" talking points for this. Motivating folks to just try something new is great. Keep it up please!
It's worth noting that the kit doesn't actually require any additional bits to have a WYSIWYG basilisk, the kit comes with a pintle mounted heavy flamer, and the 40k basilisk can trade out its heavy bolter for a heavy flamer. It's especially good for death korps players since the style of the heavy flamer in the kit is similar to the ones that the death korps infantry use, rather than the more sci-fi looking ones that other regiments as well as sisters of battle and space marines have. Still though this is a very neat conversion, and is a nice way to get some variety in your vehicle pool!
I kinda think your army theme would fit well with a few Centaur transports from the Krieg line, being used as logistics vehicles, ad-hoc mobile MG emplacements, and gun emplacements. Could say that due to errors within the munitorum, they accidentally recieved an shipment of these from clerical error. Either before they went traitor, or after which might be even more hillarious. Their requisition request for a vehicle not only resulted in them getting the wronf equipment, but it took so long that they became traitor guard by the time it showed up. XD
I once got a heresy rhino to use in a 40k army, but since it didn’t come with a stormbolter I had to kitbash one. I decided the best way of doing this would be to model the guy coming out of the hatch holding a regular infantry sized stormbolter from the devastator squad and aiming manually.
did the sane thing with my chaos rhino, the damn combi weapon connection point snapped off and couldnt be fixed. i just gave the guy sticking out a pistol and chainsword and reasoned it was close enough
For the earthshaker barrel potential sag issue. I put 4 small dots of sprue goo on the piece that caps the front of the interior. Letting them dry before installing that piece made the barrel have just enough friction to be able to stay at any angle.
This was an awesome build and a STELLAR paintjob! Would totally love to see your take on some Kasrkin next! Tempestus Scions built with Solar Auxilia would also be great. For singular characters, I'd love to see a corrupted Enginseer since your Guard and Alpha Legion forces are so tied up with the Dark Mechanicum!
Love the traitor guard Still waiting for that Lost and the damned kit range form Atlantic.... I have 3d printed some traitors and have the blackstone fortress ones BUT just like you have mayor issues with minis having the same pose...
And we are always excited to see more Dave conversions! I know you've said you're not super interested in playing the game anymore, but I'd love to see a simple (rather than the full Unreal engine treatment) battle report between Murray's Steel Legion and Dave's Traitors.
Doing a Macharius Tank variant before it ultimately goes last chance to buy (as personally believe as a FW tank, it probably will) would be really cool.
Beautiful work, really makes me want to do some traitor guard too, I'm tempted to do a Red Corsairs warband so would do them in matching colours. Just gotta finish a million other projects first.... Regarding the limp barrel, maybe you need some friction to hold it in place, some varnish or even nail polish can be good for that! At 4:00 regarding the HH vs 40k divide, ex-GW staff member The Honest Wargamer confirmed in a video "The truth about banned gaming models " that the 40k/AoS (main studio) and Old World/HH (specialist design studio) teams are separate for accounting purposes, so sales for a product only go to the team that made it. So buying a HH kit only gives money to the HH team, NOT the 40k team, so there is no business incentive for the 40k team to support it with rules- they lose a sale when you buy a HH kit instead of a 40k kit. I imagine most FW models going to plastic will be either 40k or HH only going forward, expect even more Legends in the future... (I'm worried for Custodes...) absolutely sucks for us customers, but at least the shareholders are happy, right guys?!
Long ago, when I was much younger, I had an old G.I. Joe Cobra HISS tank with limp cannon syndrom. My grandfather (an engineer in his previous working life) opened up the hosing and squeezed in a bit of pencil eraser that he had cut off of one of those trapezoidal artist eraser bricks and slotted it in. Thereafter the cannons could be elevated to any position and stay there.
The reason they dont want HH models to be used in 40k is actually not a nefarious one. They are worried about players who would get into HH, kill team etc and *can't* because people bought up all the stock for 40k
I have loved watching the way that the tabletoptime team done conversions. It has inspired me to start some of my own. I would be interested to see how Dave would turn Gaunts Ghosts to Chaos.
With the kore you've created, surely some engineers to keep there vehicles going would be a nice addition. Love these chaos guard Dave, you inspired me to pick up a bunch of death korps and start my own I.G army, something i never thought I'd be interested in because who wants to play humans when you have a bunch of awesome fantasy races to play.
Depending on how the kit is assembled, you can potentially just glue some weights (or enough plastic sprue bits) inside the back part of the gun (the breech) to fix the sag while still having it able to adjust.
honestly one of my favorite conversions you did was the traitor field gun, would be awesome to see more of them or even heavy weapons teams especially since there a traitor artillery division. Could even use it to tell a story as how they turned, the empire never giving them the kit they need and practically restricting them to man portable weapon systems to fight the terrors of the galaxy. Enough was enough.
Love when dave geeks out over his armies. can't wait to see what you come out with next. might be a big step but what if you were to convert a rogal dawn into a weird hybrid of your favorite ww2 tank?
i recently had the same issue as u had with the cannons limpness. i found if u put a couple drops of glue in and continually move it up and down until the glue dries it adds a bit of resistance which lets u place it at whatever angle u want.
I think a interesting lore addition to the army could actually be the Verlasen Storm Section. Or however you spell them. A handful of handpicked Veterans from the PDF are selected by the Alpha Legion and given some of the best gear they can buy off the Dark Mechanicum. Rusted down and barely maintained Armor that fits the vibe of a barely livable Ash planet alongside a "Volikite" weapons that are really just fancy Hell Blasters.
love seeing the traitor guard, the kasakin would look great, but if it's an artilery based unit maybe some anti air assets like the hydra or the big missile units like the manticore or deathstrike
If you were looking for a suggestion, I would propose the classic Chaos Marine "counts as" Straken. A single Alpha Legion marine, effectively leading the entire force. Give him some design tweaks to fit him in with both armies. I've been following traitor Guard armies since 5th edition, and It felt like every time someone did it, there'd be a Chaos Space Marine Straken, probably refrencing the Lost and the Damned Exhalted heroes.
Man, traitor Kasrkin would be super sick. I miss my traitor guard army, and this just makes me want to pull them out of storage and start building again.
Would be incredible to see how you would convert/corrupt the rough riders kits. Horse recon spotters or twisted head hunters.... Great conversion and paint job Dave.
Back when i played my Chaos Guard, one of the center pieces of my army was my Valkyrie and its Enforcer squad (played as Kasarkin with as many melta guns as i could take). I really want to see your take on one of those hellbirds. Its still a super cool model but there's a lot of things you can work on with its design to Chaosify it. Alternatively, the Sentinels. Especially since the HH walkers got some new, very diesel-punk looking squatty ones that could fit your theme of an under-equipped, esoteric-Mk using army.
I really liked this! I can fully believe GW might expand Lost and the Damned into a full faction, next edition or so, and with their current model range philosophy I don't expect they'd want to include "Traitor Leman Russ" etc. It's easy to imagine them inventing a few off-brand patterns, jury-rigged tanks, and hodge-podge vehicles that are easier to maintain and repair for Traitor Militarum forces without access to loyal forge worlds and supply lines. I'd be most interested in seeing your take on Traitor Sentinels, especially given the range of Sentinel options on offer in 30k. A patchwork of Sentinel types, a spikier and trophy-strung Sentinel, or something more overtly corrupt and daemonic, like a pseudo-Stalk Tank?
These look great! It makes me want to run a Traitor Guard squad myself...though I think the next thing we have to see needs more of those Felinaed heads you got! Mutants for the win!
For future models maybe some kind of stand in for Lord Solar Leontus? I can picture a traitor guardsman on some kind of bike with a mechanical horse head on the front wheel
Since you're running so low on those precious brass forgeworld decals - you should try and make molds of them, so you can make as many as you want. Blue Stuff/Oyumaru seems like it would work super well
Apparently they try and have separate models for different game systems as it's one of the main ways they can tell how popular that system is. If all HH stuff was compatible with 40k and vice versa there's less data to show which is doing better/worse and what needs more/less funding etc. I wish it wasn't this way as we see probably the worst with The Old World and Age of Sigmar where they've removed the Skaven from The Old World because they had new kits coming to AOS and there could be no cross over. Personally as long as something is roughly the right dimensions I don't care that it's a HH Leman Russ or HH assault marine. If it looks cool then I like it, plus I don't understand how people keep to WYSIWYG as the rules are constantly changing. I'm not going to buy and paint a new tank just because my current one is now trash rules wise.
Great looking traitor guard Basilisk. Would love to see how you could "chaos up" an Aethon Heavy Sentinel as I think that has great potential to go into a traitor guard army.
Love what Dave did with the kit and how well it goes with his army. That said I really don't vibe with this kit as a basilisk. I just love the whole massive open roof Howitzer artillery canon vibe
I'd love to see some tempestus scions mainly as spotters with the "esoteric equipment" that was mentioned because they have the deep strike rule which I think in lore would be them appearing from out of nowhere to ambush enemies while calling down artillery fire. IDK I'm just a person
I have a solution for your barrel problem take a little piece of plastic. It looks like the where it could sit on top of the barrel and slide like the barrel could be elevated permanently if you wanted to glue it that way or just take something in the shape of that it looks kind of like a slingshot, and put it in the middle of the barrel that will hold the barrel up
Nice choice with the offset turret. Makes it feel a lot like a WW2 Grant tank. Although if I had waited longer into the video, I would have seen that was what you were inspired by 😂
that mini turret is perfect, i wish i saw this before i finished my basilisk, i just put the bolter on the front below the main gun where theres a flat area
How long has the tank been in the possession of the chaos forces? they might not have had time to put spikes everywhere yet and just painted chaos stars on with a big brush after capturing it from PDF storage or whatever
some mutants could be cool. Rats or ogs are an obvious choice but any alteration that makes them table ready approved but outside the accepted without making them obviously chaos corrupted could be a cool nod to the Alpha's destablising force towards heresy while being a subtle aspect.
I appreciate you thought about the Sneaky Snakes (Alpha Legion) not being very public with their alliance with your cool ass army 😎 It’s not too flashy but it’s still intimidating with the color pop on that middle and the stars are cool!!! I haven’t watched many videos here so idk how much you’ve painted….id love to see the Hydra ;) Flak Tank and Sentinels with close combat arms ?
It’s be cool to see some kaserkin painted up but since they’re the elite soldiers, they have better gear and more of the alpha legions color on them as they get better wargear. Or another vehicle maybe a caimera to help the basic troops move up the board safer.
I know you said they wouldn't be full of special characters, but every army should have a leader and Lord Solar is such a blank canvas for conversions. Would love to see what a traitorous proxy would be. Mines a Loyalist guard regiment, but my 'Lord Solar' is a Mentors chapter marine on bike giving out tactical advice. Yours could potentially be an Alpha Legion operative directing the cultists. Endless possibilities!
I think it'd be sick to use the armored solar auxilia to make some traitor tempestus scions. Maybe they have ramshackle jetpacks that they use for their deep strike?
So I've been Guard since 2000 long time ago now... I decided to do new year new army and redo my guard but I found myself adding genestealer cults parts to my squads... I want the new brood kit to add to it. Enjoying the vids.
The limpness issue could be at least partially solved by having a counterweight attached inside - as long as you're leaving the hatches sealed of course.
a squad of armored sentinels would suit perfectly an artillery company would very much appreciate some fast movers to intercept anything getting too close to the big guns the armored versions would fit your toxic environment theme and would look sweet with the traitor elements
You need a capnus Cain equivalent, perhaps even In a salimamander. Scout vehicle. With some specialist troops. Alternatively a spider Tank from the guaunts ghost series built built a rouge engineer or mechanicus
I would love to see a version of the death korp for them where they were the front line veterans. Who's armor and equipment is completely salvaged so some of their equipment still resembling some of their adversaries from tau, to loyalist, even other traitor guard warbands being a tool by the alpha legion to attack even other chaos forces without the connection directly to rge alpha legion.
The battered bastards of the former hive skarik, former gangers and under hive scum they are crafty, scrappy vicious vanguard taking anything of use and will use any advantage they can get.

I really like the idea of using solar Auxilla
that baneblade turret really feels like it completes the model, love it
Came down here to make this comment, couldn’t agree more!
I'm loving the traitor guard content. I honestly havent found anything else as good for traitor guard, and you've really inspired me. I'd love to see you do a valkyrie/flyer for a traitor guard, or some chaos stormtroopers.
The lasgun on the back is a great detail! It's small, but it really elevates it into feeling much more real and lived-in.
I really wonder what the Rough riders will look like all chaosified!
Did that and they look great
I don’t play 40K and I’ve only ever built Tamiya WWI and WW2 tanks, but I absolutely love the cartoonishness of these models. The proportions are wonky, but in a really good way. I think I might see if I can get hold of this model and put it next to my British Mk IV.

YES DARK MEC!
10:30 as a tank enthusiasts that analogy is PERFECT for this tank

Love the traitor guard

GW realizing the error of their ways was the funniest joke of the video
Yeah, we all know that with GW Error IS the way
Yes! A fellow interwar tank enjoyer! Absolute Chad
Long ago, when I was much younger, I had an old G.I. Joe Cobra HISS tank with limp cannon syndrom. I've really fallen in love with tanks and these traitor guard videos are always so fun so I'm v happy watching this video over coffee!
We do love a bit of cheeky tech heresy
You did a great job on this. Thank you for the video. I really like how the optics look.
honestly one of my favorite conversions you did was the traitor field gun, would be awesome to see more of them or even heavy weapons teams especially since there a traitor artillery division.

Dave I know i’m 8 hours late but fuck man your army is such an inspiration to my own Chaos army. Easily some of my favorite videos on the channel
Would be incredible to see how you would convert/corrupt the rough riders kits. Horse recon spotters or twisted head hunters.... Great conversion and paint job Dave.

Next a Malcador, wich is also an older type of tank... you could convert it to play as a Dorn tank.
I've never been interested in traitor guard until seeing all these dave conversions and now I have a mighty want to try some
Also yay traitor guard!
I like how much with the small turret it feels like a lee / grant 😅 really leans into the ww2 in space vibe
AOS has some fantastic horsemen to use as well. I’m building the herald of decay as my Leontus.
It took me half way through the video to realise the 40k basilisk is on a chimera chassis and this is a Russ chassis
@@TabletopTime That certainly explains why it looks more mid range battle tanky!
I'd love to see some tempestus scions mainly as spotters with the "esoteric equipment" that was mentioned because they have the deep strike rule which I think in lore would be them appearing from out of nowhere to ambush enemies while calling down artillery fire. IDK I'm just a person
Ive said it before, and I'll continue to - I love Tank Talking Time with Dave : )
you can aslo use the Cadian heavy weapons kit. heavy bolter. to kit bash a heavy bolter on it. for some player that have those part laying around.
Although if I had waited longer into the video, I would have seen that was what you were inspired by 😂
this thing looks pretty cool. Heck I can totally see this be a real life vehicle.
Awesome tank Dave! Karskrin or Tempestus Scions would be super cool to see! Or ogryns!!
As always perfect work! I would like to see a "Lord Solar Leontus" conversion! 😊
Dave, this is a great job mate! As a Space Wolf player and collector I do resent that "Goody-two-shoes" comment though! 🤣
We need a traitor guard Baneblade! Or at least Rogal Dorn battle tank.
that mini turret is perfect, i wish i saw this before i finished my basilisk, i just put the bolter on the front below the main gun where theres a flat area
This was super cool, I think it might be fun if you used those warcry gorgers to make some super messed up ogryns for the army.
How long has the tank been in the possession of the chaos forces? they might not have had time to put spikes everywhere yet and just painted chaos stars on with a big brush after capturing it from PDF storage or whatever
These videos are great inspiration for my Brood Brothers
Would love to see you traitor up some ogryns, or sly marbo would be kewl. Love all your work
some mutants could be cool. Rats or ogs are an obvious choice but any alteration that makes them table ready approved but outside the accepted without making them obviously chaos corrupted could be a cool nod to the Alpha's destablising force towards heresy while being a subtle aspect.
Really enjoy the terrain builds. Maybe a traitor guard outpost akin to the space bears hanger.
I'd LOVE to see a Tank Commander character with some gnarly chaos mods that make it clear it's the seat of power and corruption for the army
an elite squad like kasrkin could be fun with their own personal taurox
I appreciate you thought about the Sneaky Snakes (Alpha Legion) not being very public with their alliance with your cool ass army 😎
It’s not too flashy but it’s still intimidating with the color pop on that middle and the stars are cool!!!
I haven’t watched many videos here so idk how much you’ve painted….id love to see the Hydra ;) Flak Tank and Sentinels with close combat arms ?
id love to see a flyer next!
theres the venerable valkyrie but id lose my mind if you did something like a marauder bomber!
It’s be cool to see some kaserkin painted up but since they’re the elite soldiers, they have better gear and more of the alpha legions color on them as they get better wargear. Or another vehicle maybe a caimera to help the basic troops move up the board safer.
Traitor guard knight please
The M3 Grant was used by Australia during WW2 alongside the Matilda 2.
Id love to see you tackle a chaosified baneblade! Make a huge rolling command center for your traitor guard!
A fun idea is to put a little ammo box on the back of the tank with some little blue shells, maybe that would help it keep its barrel up ;) lol
The addition of some abhumans could be interesting as the force becomes more and more chaosy
Gloriuos addition to your army. Keep the traitor guards content coming and Death to the false god
This think looks great and has a similar vibe to how I’m trying to build my guard army
Personally I'm not planning a lord solar, as I don't feel my force would have access to anything or anyone with such spectacular rules 😂
@@TabletopTime Haha that's fair!
Yeeeeeah Dave's Traitor Guard!!! Woohoo!!!
Rather than Kasrkin, I think Scions would look good chaosified into a brutal shock troop/hit squad.
8:18 Don't cut toward yourself! Khorne cares not from where the blood flows!
I've been toying with building a "Lost and the Damned" style Traitor Guard/Choas Cultist army for my Orks to beat up on.
I would like to see a chaos Baneblade 🤔
The limpness issue could be at least partially solved by having a counterweight attached inside - as long as you're leaving the hatches sealed of course.
I wish I'd known before I glued it all shut. Now you know
I would love to see you do a Baneblade, lots you could do to it, but probably a better option would be some Bullgryn
Just for fun love to see the dark mech priest that maintains all the wargear for your traitor guard.
a squad of armored sentinels would suit perfectly
an artillery company would very much appreciate some fast movers to intercept anything getting too close to the big guns
the armored versions would fit your toxic environment theme and would look sweet with the traitor elements
