This was not the scariest part of my 2,000 Mile Drive through the Arctic and the Arctic Ocean, that was in the previous Hurricane episode.

3 record breaking hurricanes surprised me and hit the arctic coast within one week as I was traveling in my van to the outlying islands. The hurricanes where the strongest that have ever been measured in the country and reached wind speeds of over 62 m/s, or 140 mph. Records where set that where way higher than this again. Red alerts where issued for all along the coast, and I ended up in the middle of it, not by my choice, but when ferries are involved things can get tricky. I decided to run for my life to get out of there, and instead take my chances against a massive Blizzard. It was fierce!
My van is a Fiat Ducato, FWD with Nokian Hakkapalitta studless Winter Tires. This is the same as a Ram Promaster in America - USA and Canada.

This is my complete second winter of Winter Van Life in extreme conditions in the North, living in a van during freezing temperatures. Starting in November I go through the whole winter season of snowy winter adventures from November to April, with snow storms, blizzards, extreme cold, extreme snowfall, slippery roads and some amazing winter beauty as well.
I also show you what I learn as I go from my second winter in the van.

An awesome beautiful site - that blizzard. Wild, free, untouched, and whimsical snow flying through the sky. It was a good strategy that your van positioned facing the wind direction. And the next morning was so gorgeous. Not much snow build-up at all. Thankful for that snowplow to do such a thorough job in clearing your parking area. Looking forward to the "deep white unknown of the north"!! LOVE IT - cannot wait to join you again to the north.

Treat your van with kindness. The arctic is very hard on automotive systems. Brake fluid picks up condensation and may freeze. Batteries may not charge when frozen.

Jarl, I grew up on Long Island New York. The most severe winter storm I can remember was the massive Northeast Blizzard of 1978. Snow drifts 6 to 7 feet high. Brought the entire Northeast United States to a standstill for a week. Even that storm pales in comparison to the extreme blizzards you encounter. Especially those winds packing a serious wallop of force, driving the snow horizontally. Absolutely incredible. Are you worried at all that the fierce winds combined with snow and dirt particles will damage the paint finish on your van?

I just don’t understand why there aren’t any places such as a garage or large bays u can park INSIDE during the worst of such storms. Yes ok u go walk out n it n film but parking n protection of cover. OY VEY 🥴
The grey warrior is EPIC n its protection of u. So is G-D n this is why I pray for His safety over u This blizzards n hurricanes r crazy.

Thank you TJ, there are garages in malls, but they are not tall enough for my can to get into, so that doesnt work. What I am scared of in winds like that is the van being blown over, if a gust hits from the side, or the sub roofs being ripped off:-)

Yes, true that, I would probably think we have less of an issue with ppl up here in the north than you might have. We are spred quite thin up here, and there are not really any violence at all.
