Just goes to show what an experienced tractor operator and tillerman can improve response times. Headsets make communication betw both easier and integral to safe and expedient operations. Fast and unsafe leads to bad results - fast, efficient & SAFE makes the job that much easier! Clearly well trained and experienced operators here! WTG all!!!!!
@@BC41B That's key thing, especially when it comes to the tillerman. Both ends of the truck have to have trust in each other. Those turns CAN become a life or death thing. Also, to joebobo3030, you think the tiller was going fast? It showed an engine company right behind them. Think about how fast they're going just to keep up. Both first due pieces. Love every minute of the video.
Tillerman bouncing around back there. I'm sure it's a fun ride. I'm also sure he spent many hours training before they let him behind the wheel for the real thing. Great work!
Holy Schmoly! At first I am wondering how this guy can see the road and cars with that ladder hanging in front, then around the first curve, I see the front end of the unit! I guess this explains how caterpillars and millipedes can scamper around without losing their arses----someone must be in charge back there! All kidding aside, VERY cool video! Thanks for sharing!
Thankyou absolutely fantastic coverage and explanation of what going on, my not from a firefighters background, but you've made so much easier knowing inwhat is happening. Thankou all for an amazing job well done. Love from the UK ❤️❤️
I noticed you guys are using IPADs instead of traditional MDT. What response apps do you use on them? We are in the process of setting up a similar setup in our dept.... Love the tiller BTW!
This is a great video from the tiller operators perspective. However, the company officer clearly has no idea how to operate the Q2B siren. He needs to operate it within the tonal range.
Yet another Engineer who doesn't know how to properly operate the Q 🙄 Maxing them out is not how they are designed to operate, it is also the least effective, which is why they use a momentary switch They are designed to be driven up and then free roll back down, this is to cover the most frequency range
That tiller goes crazy fast

Great video! Seems like a long run for a first due company?? Maybe, or a big 1st due response area.
BROTHER, DRIVING IT LIKE HE STOLE IT ! AMAZING JOB ! THANK YOU !
Lol
believe thats a sister driving;
That was fascinating! Ladder in his line of sight, moving from side to side and hauling Ass. That man is the real deal. Excellent job!
Dude put a cinder block on that Q pedal and left it there
Made for a great intro though!

very cool to see i like POV of people driving fire trucks great video
Always been my Childhood dream to be a Tillerman, but now I'm just a Firebuff Photographer.Awesome video.
Serious driving skills on the back end!
The very first time I saw a hook and ladder fire truck was in New York City shortly after I arrived in America 🇺🇸. This would be my ride.
That was a crazy ride. Loved it.
just saw fairfax county tiller 410 in the springfield plaza parking lot 😂, reminded me of this video
Hell ya! Go get em boys! Love the Q!
Lovin' the hula wahine! Good-luck charm.
Crazy cool view
That lady is drivinh the hell out of that thing up front. GOOOOOOO GET EMMMMMM BROTHERRRRRRRSSSS
Go get em brothers
Awesome video
cool view
Did the button stick on the fed q siren?
The captain operates the Federal Q and horn.
@@EmergencyResponseChroniclesYeah I get it, been in that seat. When the siren stays pegged to the floor it means the OIC is a little excited 😂.
What's that gauge in the center of the overhead panel, next to the switches?
The yaw gauge, to tell how far left or right he can go before he starts jackknifing
York PA here, wish we had career.

Well that was fun to watch!
Great video….let up on the button man!
Seeing this makes me sad my department or and departments around don’t have a tiller.
Had to watch the intro a few extra times.
Is that a Ride along
After a few videos like this ... I'm sure, a tiller has to be a trained rodeo rider !!
There's a lot training that goes into being a tillerman
You think the truck would have a camera at the front so the tiller can see better but nope. They didn’t think of it.
Is this an older truck? I hope newer trucks provider a less bouncy ride in the back, with better shock absorbing seats.
Must be a strange feeling being in the rear like that. How much training do they have before being allowed on a real call ?
my dept, Seattle fire, used to have a tiller man driving course that was about 50 hrs for the basic course and then refresher through the dept.
@@tonyrowland9216 Thanks for that .
Who is driving ?????Rick Nielsen
That’s a lot of mechanical siren usage.
The key being *improper* siren usage 😉
@@virgilhilts3924 It was a fire response. The captain had to step on the Q Siren pedal because it was urgent.
@@EmergencyResponseChronicles
And doing so is literally the least effective way to use them
@@virgilhilts3924 True.
STILL THE BEST SEAT ON THE TRUCK NO ?
Bouncy ride lol😂
Wow was that a female driving the engine
Bad Ass

Id be pissed if our local fire department stood on the Q pedal like that
That’s what happens to us, that’s where we live
Looks easy, eh....it ISN'T!
Must be another volunteer response with all that Q usage…🤣🤣🤣
