The first to tape cassette that I bought in the 1970s with my own money were Billy Joel glass houses and Van Halen 1... My heart is deeply saddened by the loss of one of, perhaps, the most influential guitar players in history. Nothing against Jimi Hendrix or Randy Rhoads are any of the absolute best players ever... Evh was the beginning in the end for me

Sad news today that the world has lost one of the best guitarist ever. Seriously, 2020 has been such a tough year. I never got to meet Eddie , but I saw VH in concert 11 different times over the years.
Back in the days of General admission tickets, we would show up early and get front row.
At the end of the Fair warning tour Eddie reached over and handed me a guitar pick. I have it in our safe deposit box along with all my concert ticket stubs.
Rest In Peace Edward Van Halen, you were one of a kind!
I saw them in concert in Louisville Kentucky in the 80’s and it was amazing ! One of the best guitarists of all time !
It’s me Rita C I saw them three different times at Freedom hall in Louisville. I have my ticket stubs from a couple of the concerts.

Edward Van Halen was one of a kind and the king of guitar. There will never be another like him and i am so glad i got to meet him and joke around with him a few years ago.
He was just a great guy. Loved the synergy when he played.

Eddie, as I said, is my teacher and mentor of the guitar. That guy could make noises come out of a guitar that no one would ever think possible. He took the distortion that Jimi Hendrix created and blew it up into smithereens by adding so many other techniques. He taught young guitar players to improvise with tone to get what you want and to sound like yourself. He also brought the squeal and growl into rock n roll guitar. RIP, my master.

Eddie was always smiling it seemed. I'l never forget the first Van Halen record. Completely fresh style with 4 incredibly skilled, well-rehearsed guy's. Eddie and David Lee Roth were really very gifted. He will be a part of Rock history forever. He rarely kept both feet on the ground as he performed. Happy to see such positive vibes regarding his passing. Honoring him for what he brought to the entire World.

Saw VH with both Dave and Sammy... regardless of the front man the real show stopper was Eddie. I wish I could have seen him jam with his son... at least we have videos and albums. Thoughts and prayers are with his family. Eddie... you truly are a Guitar God. Rest well bother! RIP
How can I say goodbye to one of many who had grown up with me and was the background music of my lifes and my generations young adult living ironic his father passed at the young age of 66yrs old and when that happened Eddie decided along with his brother that life is precious and they stopped drinking and drugs, parting they just wanted to take better of themselves loosing their father woke them up to the importance of life yet, here we are Eddie defeated the odds of surpassing his fathers years and passed a year earlier at 65 yrs. Young trust me people 65 is young you'll understand once you reach it infact when it happens its within a wink of an eye ! Sincerest Condolences to the Van Halen family Eddie's son Wolfgang and Eddie's wife along with ex Valerie just heartbreaking I was so looking forward to Eddie being a grandfather however, never say never because with every death a birth does arrive ... Bless you Eddie Van Halen with love Amen ...
So many great moments of my young life had his music in them.
I was literally giving my whole art class a speech on who Eddie Van Halen is and how Ive been obsessed with him and VH (w/ DLR) ever since I was 8. And thats when I got the news alert and started bawling in front of the class. Everyone was confused and my art teacher (Shout out to Mrs. Coro) said no effing way. We couldnt believe it. I spent that night driving and blasting his instrumentals, music, and interviews and just about ate my weight in ice cream. I dont think ive ever cried that hard. And my close friends keep spamming me saying sorry for your loss. I fucking love that god. Rest In PEACE EDWARD LUDEWIJK VAN HALEN. You will be missed. Im still waiting for someone to tell me this is a fucking sick joke or for him to pull a Nikki Sixx. I love you man, rock the hell out of heaven.....

After attending over 75 rock concerts in my life, VH on the 4th of July 1993 takes the cake. JD bass set on fire, naked women clawing their way on stage, 3 hours straight of blistering Eddie. And the fireworks and cover of "Keep on Rockin in the Free World" are the best memories a kid could ever ask for. Light up the sky and fly high Eddie Van Halen!!!!
