He always looks so damn happy when he's playing; he exudes class and respectability and every good vibe you can imagine.
he is stoned :)
@@johneshuis1215 Hell yeah he is.
😁
Broken wolf...haha hey white boy, don't go around starting any trouble 😂
@@PlayNiceFolks Trouble? The word ain't in my vocabulary, suh.
Louis Armstrong was that rare and infectious performer that made you smile weather he was singing, playing trumpet or just talking
No words to describe gorgeous Grace Kelly in this movie- Beauty Queen. She's the only one. I think it's really impossible to see another Grace Kelly. She's the epitome of beauty and grace.
Here come the musicians, drummer n bass player n trumpeter hehehehehe ,: -D
Who else wants Louis Armstrong's version of 'The Wedding March' at their wedding?
I've said this since the first time I ever saw the movie. It's awesome!
Great man- Louis Armstrong.
How he lives his life is truly inspirational.
I've so much admired and respected the man.
A unique, powerful voice is widely known around the world.
❤
He'll always be remembered.
Louis simply the best, god be with you and bless you from Ireland
I adore this , I adored Louis Armstrong……. never mind his wonderful music , that wonderful smile, contagious laughter and joie de vivre .
very6 very good film - I saw it at its opening in 1956 - yupiii I was 21 years old then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh how I wish they wrote songs like these now! Nostalgia...
The Legend! Love him so much. His music will live forever ♡
watching this movie again and had to listen to this intro song again. It's one of my favorites from the movie.
What movie is This?
‘High Society’ (1956) starring Bing Crosby, Grace Kelly & Frank Sinatra.
Aug. 4th: Happy birthday Jazz trumpeter-Singer-composer-Bandleader-Actor Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong (1901-1971) Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, Grammy Hall of Fame, Down Beat Jazz Hall of Fame, star: Hollywood Walk of Fame. Thank you and God bless. R.I.P. Thanks for the upload, Bugg Zugg. Blessings
Gerald Johnson Don’t forget 1990 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee
Mr. Armstrong used to have such a fine voice. But he could melt permafrost whenever he played. Thanx for the clip.
High Society was the last film I saw at Radio City Music Hall in NYC. Loved it for Louis and the jazz.
Louis Armstrong singing Calypso. It was the era of Harry Belafonte.
He had one of the best record deals around back then, he had the freedom to record pretty much whatever he wanted, and did! The only others with close to a comparable deal were Sinatra and later on, Ray Charles
He always has this crazy look on his face! You can't watch him perform without smiling :D
The ending of the very well made remake has the croolest rendition of here comes the bride i've ever heard!.god bless the great satchmo(mr.louis armstrong)for existing on this planet,(even though it was a short time)for brightening and making our lives happier and much less grimmer, with his voice p,personality and music!.
Love his voice.
They just dont have any entertainers of this calibre any more.
What about Justin Bieber? He's the Louis Armstrong of our times.
Yes, Bieber is the Armstrong of our times, if it’s our time in hell
They have better. You're just too lazy to find them.
Jaron Talotta though there are some great entertainers now, back then you didn’t have to find the great ones since they were the main focus, but now crap is shown off while the great ones are kept in the shadows
@@victorkong82 Louis Armstrong has more talent in his little finger than Justin Bieber has in his whole body.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This beginning is shortened--It starts, "just dig that scenery floating by, we're now approaching Newport Rhode-I, we've been for years and variety, Cholly Knickerbocker, now we're gong to be in High, High, High Soci-, High Society". (Accurate to the best of my knowledge).
Just as i remember it, especially the "Newport Rhode-I" !
Man dig that crazy rehearsal hall
What a powerful pile of rock
Man I can't go in there
Why can't you go in there?
I aint got my library card 😂😂😂
Dig you 😂😂😂
lol
love everything about the movie-- especially Satchmo....!!
Uma das vozes mais linda de tds os tempos era uma fera cantando
I see usually see the world as completely fucked but the vey existence of Louis reminds me that sometimes you just gotta put on the rose tinted glasses and think to yourself what a wonderful world
I never saw the movie. But this video just makes me feel a bit happy.
огромная энергетика. потрясающее. ВЕЛИКИЙ МАСТЕР. надеюсь он меня услышит.
I smoked good to this. Louie Armstrong was cool as hell.
There's a strong case for Louis being both greatest Singer and Musician of the 20th Century
Very strong case, he’s wonderful in every which way( though I prefer Sinatra as the best)
Happy 120th Birthday Mr Armstrong
🎶🎺🎙🎶🍸
He was the best!

my favorite opening ---- "Satchel mouth" was the best!
I am going to do as Louis did with his "assistant", and watch this movie next weekend. Looks like a fun picture.
I love Barrett Deems in the end looking over Louis's shoulder.
He looks so hyper!

Satchmo was the root of all popular music, has influenced all over the world. Nobody like him would never appear.
Marvelous!
Thank you. I was not sure of a specific line.
Heaven help Hollywood if the honchos even THINK of remaking this.
Well the movie is already a remake of “The Philadelphia Story” from 1940.
He was high!
such a great movie intro
Who else is here from Patrick Willems channel?
Love this Movie.
This is one of the many examples that the black community helped A LOT with music in general.
Magnificent.

Let's say it Louis Armstrong IS a GOD of Music !
Louis Armstrong is the god of music
An American original. The Great "Satchmo".
"Satchel Mouth". Lol 😂 (what the butler called him)
This was a great movie and very funny. Great cast, good story, nice songs and Grace Kelly sure was hot. How her expression changed in the last scene was hilarious and shows what a great actress she truly was. Too bad she went to to Monaco to get married. Hollywood lost a great talent. She only made 11 films. Who knows what else she would have done had she stayed in the movie industry.
jdewitt77 Yes, that’s very true but I think she always wanted to be a wife and mother and when she met Prince Rainer (spelling?) she found the man she wanted to be with forever, he just happened to be the Prince of Monaco. And I don’t think she ever truly turned her back on Hollywood she was still a voting member of the Motion Picture Academy and I think she served on the board of one of the film studios
ale ekipka Edmund Hall, Trummy Young, Alvell Shaw Barett Deems i inni Super..
the BEST :)
Thumbs up if the commercial on TCM brought you here.
high high
It's a wonderful performance of the song but I wonder when Louis Armstrong first sang did anyone offer him a throat lozenge? We all readily accept this style of singing today but there must have been a time when people said, "Are you kidding? Come back when you get over your sore throat."
Back when show business knew how to put on a show!

I wonder if mr. satchelmouth and the dalai lama ever met; what a conversation THAT would have been, bodhisattva to bodhisattva--
"HIZE-SO SI - OTEE!.."
One of the greatest movies of all time! Hands down! And that's coming from a straight white male. If only we could all go back to a more innocent time...
there's only one of each of us, just like snowflakes; quite astonishing when you think about it; makes me believe in God, who I hope is just like Louis Armstrong--
Satchmo doin' the Calypso...
No doubt there's a lot of "high" in that cigarette!
Satchmo rules....
Kkkkk muito bom
Haha yea pops is sure right about being high lol. That's not a tobacco he's smokiness.

Playing trumpet with open mouth WTFFF
lol
Weird but true. There’s many videos you can see bubbles coming from the corners of his lips
Never say Farewell Satchmo.
Want too get oldies music
from what movie is this it?? :( 😍😍
High Society (1956), go watch the movie. It's hillarious.
it's so good
High Society, musical remake of The Philadelphia Story, starring Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra & Grace Kelly and featuring Louis Armstrong and his band
No, claves are those wooden sticks. I'm too ignorant to have known which Trummy Young was exactly but, as there's no trombone in this song/scene, I'm going to guess Trummy Young also turned his hand to a little percussion, and that we are talking about the same guy..and yes, I bet they'd all be thinking how the times do change...
BTW, it was just a funny - no racist ; )
:D
Really different than most part of so called musician of our times. ( in occidental countries ... of course ! )

Yeah in a high society n am I high hehehehehehe ,:-D
What's this movie about?
Grace Kelly is a member of Newport, R.I. society and she’s about to get married when her former fiancée Bing Crosby shows up and tries to convince her to marry him. Add to this is Frank Sinatra as a nosy tabloid reporter looking for a potential scandal. It all takes place over a weekend in Newport
@@jennifersman7990 former husband
It's kind of a remake of The Philadelphia Story, a huge satire of love triangles and elitist culture.
you are correct; why wasn't it included? [sorry to nitpick, but I think it goes: "We've been for years IN variety, etc."] thanks for pointing out this unforgivable omission--
No comparison
I came from TikTok 😂
I've long suspected that Louis Armstrong might be God [or God Louis Armstrong]--here's hoping I'm right; there ain't nothing you couldn't explain to this cat--
Please follow me, Mister Satch-o-mouth....
😂😂😂😂😂😂
This doesn't really look like it was in the 1950's it looks more like the 200's
Gacha PayPay It’s called film restoration and preservation
0:54 - lol, Obama's on the claves.
?🚍🚏
i'm too ignorant to know what the claves are, but I suspect you're referring to Trummy Young [on the trombone]; he was funny and he sort of resembles Obama; bet this band would have happy to see the day Obama won; I hope they could see it from Heaven, to which they surely took the express elevator--
