Back in the day, there was a thing that we relied on called Black Radio where we listened to all of this music when it came out. So, if you are of a certain age and grew up on Black Radio at the time, you know of all of these acts. It was great! Thank God we have RUclips to bring back all of the memories.

Cheikh Anta Diop rocked the world in 1972 by proving at a United Nations conference that ancient Egypt was a predominately Black civilization. Before that, it was known by Black scholars but not the masses. This song and themes from Earth Wind and Fire and many others reflect how that knowledge became popular in the '70s.

This song was produced my Dexter Wansel. Listen to Diggy Simmons The Reign because Dexter’s son Pop Wansel sampled it for Diggy and Diggy murdered it. Pop did a phenomenal job with the remix. The mix of that song that Pop did was incredible.

Nice reaction! The Jones Girls had a lot of good music to listen too. My favorite track from them is 'Who Can I Run To'. I guarantee that you will zone out to this joint. Escape did a version of it in 1993 but the orignal is pure melted butta.

I believe the Jones Girls were founded by Dexter Wansel part of the Philadelphia International Records fam. These ladies are so underrated it ain't funny. The harmonies are incredible and they had a string of hits in the late 70's and early 80's. Nights Over Egypt is a vibe and a half. Also check out Keep It Comin as well as Dance Turned Into a Romance.

The Magic of the sound of phille try a track by their main producer... Dexter Wansel track called sweetest pain ft jones girls.... keep up the good work your a cool dude... DJ Loky the head toucher... young bro i have been collecting this style of music for 40 yrs lived and danced in this scene, been a d.j since 1980 retired now nearly 60... still got all my vinyl stored in my lock up don,t go near it much but its racked up and there must be at least 5 to 6 thousand pieces of vinyl from albums to 12 inc singles to 7 inc singles all Soul /Jazz / FUNK / Brazilian latin jazz/ funk/ reggae and old skool hip/hop... i will give a few suggestions, which i might have done in previous posts but no rush young blood take your time thru the land of the good groove its a long wonderful journey of blissful happy tunes... In them days there were more tunes made from an endless supply of artist, then there are stars in the heavens...

I'm from Jersey, and this song was definitely know here, but probably not as big as in Detroit. What made me search for this after all these years was a Tracey Lee song from the 90s, called "Stars In The East", I was listening to the other day. I just had to know who he sampled... The Jones Girls. Keep doin' your thing, brotha. We're enjoying the ride right along with you.
