"Punitive parent... Get out of my theatre!" 🤣 Love it!

Lots of good stuff, but what do you say to a therapist who is acting like punitive parent and teaches clients to do the same? Lot's of information. Necessary complication?

Thanks jess. Your videos have been very very helpful to me. Always wondering if you plan to discuss schemas in detail. X X

How to separate good from bad advice? Breaking self into multiple personalities isn't it a creation of a disease in itself? Feeding aggression against unwanted "parent" in a client. Is it necessary?

Thank you, it is very helpful. My main problem is the discipline, how can this be tackled? Thx

Write out a plan and stick to it. When you realised you’ve drifted away then come back to it. Consistency is the key to discipline.

Hey Jess, would you be able to do a video explaining the differences between Healthy Adult and Compensatory modes?
I often find it quite difficult to tell the difference in myself - Eg. When am I compensating for an underlying Shame schema vs when am I not?!
It's probably quite healthy to let yourself feel strong, feel confident in life - but when does it become too much and turn into overcompensation..?

Nice question! Simply put- healthy adult leans in to the discomfort or vulnerability whereas coping modes try to avoid it.

the audio of almost of all of your videos is pretty poor - and the lighting is not so good either, in comparison to other youtube channels. I think what you offer is great but could be much enhanced by improved quality of sound and vision. But great stuff otherwise - as I have watched a lot of these.

I don't think it's the audio but rather her presenting skills. She speaks incredibly fast with a thick accent and swallows words and sometimes entire sentences. For example, "punitive" consistently sounds like "puny". The info is great but I've had to pauze the video many times for this reason.
