I feel really sorry for all the content creators of Battlefield. Especially for those like you who put their heart and soul into the game.
I never worked in software but I have planned launches for physical goods and I am starting to see the same pattern,
I'm sure it's not spoken out loud but what my last two brands did (one directly due to me seeing I was the brand director) was to make a vacuum in the product space before we made a new launch, we did this to start the new generation of products with anticipation for what will come next.
If we did the launch too early the build up would not have time to come and the hype sales would be nowhere to be find.
But as you point towards, this also leaves a vacuum for content creators, especially those that focus said product lines.
It seems to me that targeted leaks to creators by the studios themselves could be a workaround, you trickle out content, keeping the hype and not least, keeping community alive.

It's the story that happens to Battlefield repeatedly: launch rough, spend a lengthy time rebuilding trust, finally create a promising future, and then abruptly end support. What makes this "ending" harder is the abrupt closure of Ridgeline Studio, a studio many of us in the community were excited to add some hope towards stability to the series's but now it seems like we are back on track to the same formula that has been chaotic at best.
It's a shame, and I feel bad for most of the creators involved and fans of the series. I loved my time in every one of these games but many of them always feel like they are a shell of what they could have been. (Except BF1, as it was nearly perfect)
Remember everything you have written above, and dont preorder the next game - they do this on rinse repeat.
At least bf1 and bf5 were good though... atmosphere in 2042 is stupid
@@brandonhallam51 Where you around bf5 at launch? - I recall a lot of the community quitting bf1, and v at the same time - it was a shocking mess.
And in case your memory has lapsed - Bf1 landed in reasonable shape with netcode issues - they then had to do a huge patch in April the following year that changed the netcode, and started the road to improvement.

@@brandonhallam51 Both bf1, and bfv eventually arrived at a decent point, with decent game play - but just as V got decent they stopped development for 2042.. And then dropped the ball again with that.
Those who played Bf4 - will talk of the infernal mess it arrived in, and like the others took years to get good.
Hence my point - dont preorder a Bf game.

They should just rotate season 1 through to 7 again - to let those who didnt play the earlier seasons to enjoy those missed moments.

They said that they will continue doing events and challenges but no official seasons. What I take from that is we might have mini seasons like two or three weeks we get a like 25 tier battle pass. Something that would last about a month. It should be rigged with XP boosters, skins and battlefield coins. What I also want them to do and I don't know how I can contact them I want them to get rid of the penalty where you can only rank up your guns to 12 tier while playing Solo or co-op, just please give us full XP on everything if you're done with the game just give us that

They only promised four seasons
This is likely due to the fact that people keep bitching and complaining virtually every time they do anything because it's not enough. It's an insatiable community. They know they have to be focusing on the new games so can't do full, big seasons, and people constantly complain that the new content they do release isn't enough. So may as well stop doing any seasons or content at all if you're just gonna get shit on by the community because it's not full seasons. They can't pull focus from new games in order to do full season, but people don't seem to get that.
Im happy getting a map or two plus a couple of guns/gadgets each season. But then I listen to everyone being completely ungrateful and whining about any new content because it's not more new content, like they don't understand that they are working on multiple new games. I figured better something than nothing, but now everyone's complaining has resulted in it being nothing. I didn't care that haven had recycled building assets, it's still a new map in a game they financially should have abandoned a long time ago. I understood it was low on their list of importance with new games in the works.
Feels that way but truth is they delivered much more than they originally promised.

BF veteran for 20 years: Wouldn't it have been fine if EA made no more battlefield games, but instead made season after season of Battlefield 2042? until the year 2043 i suppose.
2:10 tbh it’s not too wild. Due to the other side being a PMC, no countries are technically “the other side” so it’s more or less a story of “the good countries VS the evil fictional corporation”
Its probably the least politically controversial option for a war. Less risk of the game not being sold in other countries+less chance of drawing controversy.

Yeah just like when they ditched bf5 to bring us 2042 in its fantastic release state... Im not falling for that again, deffo no pre order from me on next title. Also they bring some really awesome ideas out with their games never to be seen again. Bf3 and 4 just perfectly set the template for what their community wants from a battlefield game. Hardline gave us fast paces infantry combat and probably their best squad reward system, bf5 gave us the armour angling system to add a layer of skill to armoured battles, the under used fortification system to combat mals over simplifying from destruction and add new routes to objectives during matches and 2042 brought the plus system which i love plus the idea of specialists which ended up being sub classes in a proper class system and vehicle call ins, which still needs some tweaking but is a good idea. All of these good ideas that we probably wont see in the next game and instead we'll probably get a car crash that will take a year or so to become good so rather than oay full price next time ill wait. Also DICE needs to stop pandering to an already iver saturated battle royale market. We already have so many other BRs which all bring their own take and already work as games. I personally find BR boring and would rather DICE make us a proper combined arms game again, maybe im a minority but surely we dont need another DICE half assed BR right?
No sweat, season 7 is killer game play wise and Firestorm is popping.

Never fixed M&K/Controller input lag, terrible Netcode or hitreg. Never added a Server Browser. 15 Maps in 2 YEARS. A truly dreadful game.
this game felt like a pledge/ funds for future development, if they don’t get the next game right then everything we did for the last two years was all for nothing.
I have games on PS5 where I am either super elite and can almost one shot everyone, or it can be the other way round - and that feels like a netcode issues despite me having one of the fastest inner city internet set ups money can buy. Never happens with other games or bfv, just 2042.

Dice must unlock source code so we will add things like new maps and vehicules by creating mods far better than what we get in seasons.
Did bf1 and 5 get so much support once released for example all the weapons tweaks and tank tweaks I know they brought new maps out once the games was released just can’t remember if they played around with the bf1 and 5 weapons and players

That's ok. I have been hanging onto Battlecoins with the expectation they might put all the skins in the store on sale. Screw with Irish's APS? That is the only thing that gives the Wildcat any form of protection to do it's job against jets. A Knightbird or snipers shoot the APS and a proficient jet pilot can hammer you in one pass.
remember ea gives up tells you one thing then does another and abandons player and games potential is never reached

I really hope they learned from this experience and focus on making a Battlefield game, not a cod cover band.
Yeah, I completely expected DICE to drop this by season 4, it was nice to see that it lasted for 3 more seasons
It is kind of sad. I came into the game around season 4 after my son convinced me to. He said they had been working on it and getting things fixed and it was fun. So I bought it on Steam while on sale. It was still a little buggy but I enjoyed it and was glad he talked me into giving it a try. Lets hope there is nothing to interfere with the development of the next Battlefield, like a pandemic or something.
Crazy waking up and seeing this…i seriously thought with S7 this would be a step forward with this game even further but it looks like the same fate as battlefront 2.

Was hoping their recent push (sales & free weekends & some balance changes again) was a last attempt at making this game a more beloved Battlefield, but so be it.
Now if they can just please make it so i don't have to buy extra crap to get 80% of the unlocks i earned so far this season that would be nice, but not getting my hopes up 😉🤷♂
Hope next game keeps current era (ie: today-ish/not to old or futuristic) and the servers for this one stay up for at least another few years (since i really mostly just bought it during the recent sales so i can play the occasional BC2 maps, to me all the actual 2042 stuff is just extra)
Wonder if (for the next game) they are going to keep doing the "specialists" stuff or if all the backlash 2042 had over the years (as well as battlebit remastered?) made them realize people just want the basic 4 classes we've always had in the past without a bunch of extra stuff bolted on.
Warts and all i enjoyed my time with 2042. I agree a season 8 wouldve been nice but Im cautiously optimistic about the next game.

Battlefield games have been a consistent 2-3 years apart since at least BF3 (excluding hardline which was developed by a whole different studio). 2042 released in november 2021 so the 3 year anniversary that battlefield games usually release on is november of this year. If I had to guess the main reason they didn't do 8 seasons was they had to pick up so much slack from releasing an unfinished buggy mess of a game that they ran out of time.
Good riddance is all I can say, albeit with a heavy heart as I love the franchise.
And again, I hope that the next one is better than the last many travesties of BF games that have been released.

Can someone explain to me how 2042 dlc works?
In bf4 they had like 4 dlc expansions and then you had premium which gave you everything in the game.
I didn't understand 2042s system.

There are no DLCs. New content its free for everyone and you can buy an additional battle pass each season that gives you access to cosmetic items.

If I could finally ask, what does the "elite" version do? Does it just give all the cosmetics as opposed to someone buying just 1 season of premium?... If that makes sense
The Elite version instantly unlocks all of the former season gear for you. Cause normally you would have to unlock weapons, vehicles etc. from former seasons with assignments. But the Elite Edition unlocks them for you.
I was there at the beginning and had to endure all the bugs and now im at the end where DICE finally gave up on the game the moment they almost made it complete.

Typical. Almost every BF games, as soon as they hit 2 years (or 3 maximum), usually at Summer, DICE announcing end of support. Tho, i had expect same with 2042, end of support to arrive at summer, yet it arrived earlier.
Dice better bring their *A* game for the next Battlefield. It absolutely MUST be a legendary game.

Well, my fault for not playing on my PS5 for almost a year. I do still enjoy your videos so much to stay up to date. Literally just started the COD MW III campaign two nights ago to get my FPS skills back into some form of decency. I look forward to get back into BF 2042.

Well for the next weeks still the coverage of Season 7. And afterwards I will also cover the events and updates they said would be coming. Besides this some general Battlefield content. Going back to old games etc. And will mix in some other fps titles as well.

I hope they finally fix the solo mode. LIS. Gadget broken, brokes the game everytime and after i use, the vehicles and drones useless, because i dont see anything. The vehicle entering and leaving animation bugged, the Manifest map bugged, the fences broken, bots not using sometimes the gunships at all, on heaven map the enemy bots in breaktrough not using most of the time the vehicles, only my side. And also why i cant play as defender in breaktrough?😢 the weapon recoil is bugged with some type of scope, so ye. If you make a game fix every part of it. I hope they will😅 and on manifest the defender side not using the gunship at all. The vehicle third person broken too.

This has to be a great lesson for a multi-billion dollar company, quality (at launch), identity, content and listening to the community are fundamental elements in any video game development. Batlefield has all the potential to make its audience fall in love again. It's a shame because the game is very good now.

Well if you do play around with the settings (I'd choose the bf4 or bf3 to get a better aiming curve) I've played almost all the battlefield games and the aiming on this was crap as default. Practice on an aim trainer and reduce the aim assist. Worked for me.

@@alvinwhitehead1069 for 2042 when you go into controller settings I'd try setting it up for the bf3/4 curve first. It's not going to be as good as the bf1 aiming (never played bfV🤷♂️) yet it should at least get you in the ballpark.

Maybe due to Sweden joining Nato due to the Russian movement so they decided to make a game , season 7 final i guessed it might , but over all i do love the specialist idea but the maps are terrible to be honest and lately they put in covers due to players complaining there is no cover , practically all were sniper maps .
I am not going to jump into the new game i shall wait like i always do and save some cash.

For me It was only enjoyable while we were inside away from vehicles and across the map snipers, now we are back dealing with nighhawks and tanks i still haven't purchased the battle pass yet because I'm having so much fun with Helldiver 2. Nerfing Irish again! This why i stopped playing, dice wants to make Dozer and Sundance invincible while the other specialist are constantly sent to the chopping block, i still hold a grudge against them for nerfing Angel and Battlefront 2, i think I'm going to pass on future Dice products.
So basically the game is done for.
