The new Honda engines appear to have made significant improvements and having Max Verstappen driving, perhaps the best driving talent in F1, and RB and Honda are looking pretty good again. Soichiro Honda, if he were still alive, would have been in pain the last few years but this year would see a smile or two from him.
Raptorman0909 yes, and Maxie is so happy with the Honda engine, je was even last year when they still had the old engine. The Honda engine is probably Red Bull’s key to success
@@lexiekrewitt1735 -- Oh, as much as I'd like to put Honda on a leveling footing with Merc and Ferrari I don't think they're quite that good just yet -- there's been huge improvement for sure, but the RB chassis is always among the best and as I said before, Max may well be the best driver in F1 so I'd say its a combination of the three things. His teammate isn't knocking anyone over so of the three factors I'd wager Max is the most significant. Alonso didn't say anything that wasn't true because at that time it really was a shitty engine. Every driver would have been frustrated in this situation.
@@rogervillegas2008 It was shit because McLaren ordered it to be shit. The engine just HAD to fit their (lousy) chassis at the time so Honda had to make undesirable compromises to the engine.
Roger Villegas Nope it was mclarens fault. They went completely the wrong way. They had an extremely narrow packaging at the back of their Car and they told honda to fit their Engine into the small Space in the McLaren. Additionally McLaren drove with way too much downforce or better too much drag. Their aero wasnt as good as they thought (they only discovered this when they changed to renault Engines the year after). So they were fast in the corners (big downforce) but extremely Slow on the straights (way too inefficient aero). So they told everyone: our Car is great in the corners so its a good Car but slow on the straights so the Engine must be rubbish. This was just wrong. And the unreliable engine was as much hondas fault as mclarens with their small packaging . RedBull went the other way around. When toro rosso used honda Engines to improve the engine they told Honda: give us the best engine you Can manage and we will build our Car around it. And now you can see the results. Honda also accepted help by marco illien and ilmor tho.
It took some 4 years with Red Bull, but finally your first pole position, Max! You're polesitter number 100! Thank you Honda, thank you Red Bull and congratulations, Max! YOU ALL ARE WINNERS!!! LET'S WIN HUNGARY 2019 TOO!!!
Max is making f1 great again, he can deliver that for sure take Red Bull for the 5th championship and the youngest to ever do it, comeee on i hope he keeps driving like this for the rest of the season
I think Gasly is more representative of where Honda is in the pecking order. They have improved, yes, but Max is simply out-performing the car. That's what exceptional drivers do.
Power aside, I think their reliability and consistency help a lot. Doesn't matter the temperature, altitude, or weather, they always deliver. Without engine to worry about, RB engineers can focus more on downforce/drag instead of engine cooling, among other things.
@Ali Nassereddine Exactly. If we're honest: Kubica is old. He's LONG past his prime, like Kimi. But, and that's the thing: They're experienced. They know what the car lacks and needs, how to develop it and what is important. With young talents like Giovinazzi and Russel they can develop great drivers for the future.
He can honestly be world champion in 2020. He’s been driving like a world champion after Monaco 2018. He’s still an outside contender... my god F1 is coming back to life!
Why wait for 2020, when 2019 hasn't even finished, yet? With 260 points still on the table, and just 63 points separating Max and Hamilton, the championship might yet go to Red Bull.
halofreak1990 while I like your optimism, Mercedes still has the vastly superior car and Lewis is no slouch. It’ll be close even with a few Mercedes failures. I want Max to be champion all the way. Without racing, there is no Honda. What an incredible GP2 engine! Go Honda, Go Max!
Banzai!
Arigato Honda
Jun-san, it's been a bad 4 or 5 years for Honda and the Japanese race fans but this year has been pretty amazing.
But, seeing Honda make this jump in performance and reliability is great for Max and RB but also for F1 -- having three teams and three engine suppliers with good and comparable lumps will make the racing better for everyone.
@@Raptorman0909 The key to Red Bulls success this year is due to that reliability. Have Honda had a single reliability issue this year?
Aw man Russell almost has it. What an effort though.

@baggabliss so lewis is very good, I agree. Verstappen though has 7 wins under his belt at the tender age of 21. At 21 hamilton was in f2. Please dont compare lewis with verstappen as they are both great drivers!
Lewis wasn't even in f1 at 21....
@baggabliss uhmm vettel left? He took kyviats place, and won in his first drive for red bull. Again; at 21 max has won 7 grand prixs in an car which is not the best one plus he has numerous already legendary drives, at 21! Brasil 2016 for example at the age of 18, have a look the highlights. I agree, its an insult to compare him with lewis, because max deserves to be compared to senna...
Gp2 engine: where is fernando?
Engineer: fernando has retired
Gp2 engine: KARMA!
Alonso didn't say anything that wasn't true because at that time it really was a shitty engine. Every driver would have been frustrated in this situation.
underrated.
@@rogervillegas2008 It was shit because McLaren ordered it to be shit. The engine just HAD to fit their (lousy) chassis at the time so Honda had to make undesirable compromises to the engine.
Soon the Honda they will break the engine.
I've got to give it. Well done George, that was a fantastic effort!
It took some 4 years with Red Bull, but finally your first pole position, Max! You're polesitter number 100!

Big shoutout to Honda tbh, they killed it this first season with Red Bull...props to the boys back in Japan😂
It's a mechanical grip/traction circuit, not an engine circuit. See how they do after the summer break when the circus moves to Spa and Monza.
