Thank you Derek! Honestly it's a solid lens. I definitely would pick it up over wider macros available for similar pricing. I actually didn't know you had it already, that's awesome!
Always good to know what camera you used it on because that can impact its behavior. Also, I found the comment that none of your clients ever complained about bokeh a little annoying. A layman will almost never know what bokeh is. That doesn't mean they aren't capable of appreciating good bokeh. And so the job of a good photographer is to give their clients good bokeh. Because they will appreciate it, even though they won't know how to articulate it. Also, your audience in this case is not the same group as your clients. There may be some overlap, but typically I think your audience mostly consists of people with an interest in photography, and that group tends to be very interested in the quality of the bokeh. That being said, as far as I could see, this one produces very nice bokeh, nicer in my opinion than that of the Sony 90mm, which is its main competitor, at least for Sony E-mount.
Absolutely. Different cameras will have different autofocus speeds I totally get what you mean about the bokeh. Personally, the difference in bokeh isn't worth the price jump but of course, if you can afford it and you can justify it, get all the GM lenses :D
Everyone also raves about the Sony 90mm 2.8. macro apparently it’s the sharpest lens of the all. The difference is that the Sony lens has built in stabilization. Could you do a comparison and get your thoughts between these two?
That's a great comparison Rony. I actually don't know anyone with the Sony Macro but if I can get my hands on one, I certainly will try it out. That being said, I can assure you the Sigma didn't leave anything to be desired in the sharpness department. That paired with Sony's IBIS in the A9, I didn't have any issues with blur, if that helps shed some more light for now
SHHHHHHHHARP. sheesh those photo samples are super clean. Take my money!
Haha yeah dude it was really impressive 🙌🙌
Great vid. Learned some stuff about my very own Sigma macro that I didn’t even know.
