    I think the lower pressure environment at Williams, where there is less ego will benefit Sainz and Albon. Sainz can focus on just racing and not how to overcome his 2nd driver strategy/ having to fight management for something like equal treatment and Albon races better without threats being made about his career. And I think the drivers are both smart enough to recognise this that they can keep the competition to the track and both be better off.

    Let's not forget that it was actually luck that got Sainz a Toro Rosso seat. Vettel's sudden and late move to Ferrari promoted Kvyat to Red Bull and freed up a seat for Sainz whose father had pushed hard to get him there.
    Also, let's not forget that Max was still a teenager in 2015 who until then had been incredibly tightly coached by Jos who was reluctant to let the team take over all the coaching of his son. As a result, Jos meddled with everything on Max's side of the garage, making sure Max never got the short stick. This stirred up strong reaction from Sainz Sr., who's known for being very political, unlike the more hotheaded, straightforward Jos. And voilá, there's your toxic Toro Rosso atmosphere.
    Another point not to forget, Max already knew at the start of 2016 that he would be promoted to Red Bull. Max later confirmed that in a Dutch documentary. By the time Max got promoted he had become adult and moved to Monaco away from Jos, and Christian basically forbade Jos to do any more coaching, probably as a term for Max's promotion.

    • @Drrolfski
      @Drrolfski 7 часов назад +1

      @@hughbarned7660 Your "Max turned psychopath" opinion is just that, an opinion. The one typically coming from salty Lewis fanbois, I might add. What is a fact though is that Jos has always been open in interviews that he wanted Max to not make the mistakes that he made in F1 and that this drove him to the unusual and quite extreme methods that have become a source of debate ever since. So yes, the whole coaching of Max was clearly an exercise in self-projection, but the question is whether that is a bad thing. And is self-projection not what most parents do in their unconscience when they teach their kids?
      People always suggest that Max has been "irreparably damaged" and traumatized because of what Jos did to him. But after watching a zillion interviews with Max he doesn't come over to me as all that traumatized. If anything, he comes across as rather friendly, mature, and collected. A guy who took valuable lessons from his dad on track, which made him a world champion, but off-track took his own direction.

      That's what i keep thinking as well, Helmut isn't wrong about it, maybe he goes about it in the wrong way though.
      I also said this during the time when Sainz was up for grabs in 2024, especially after his win, he felt like he could be the next champion.
      And yeah, he's good, but...
      Besides, there's also Charles, Lewis, Lando etc., and now that he's at Wiliams, he might also be battling Fernando often, who also is not a pushover.
      Charles still beat him, so, if he can't beat Charles, then going to Red Bull was only going to end up in him playing 2nd fiddle, and he doesn't want that anymore.
      Which is fair enough, but he would have to accept that he can probably only be a leader at a lower ranked team, which is exactly what is happening now.
      I think he's more in the George Russell territory, i think they can only become champion if everything plays out perfectly, as they're still not rounded enough to force a championship title.
      Of course, he's probably hoping for a Williams miracle recovery and fluking his way into a championship, but i just don't see him on top of the ladder, pun intended.

    Was anyone calling Carlos Sainz selfish? I don't remember that being a thing, and I don't remember any of his stubbornness or questioning being actually close to selfish while at Ferrari. Maybe he whined about some things during a race a bit too much, but I don't remember anything coming close to being selfish. Wanting to win and wanting a good strategy is not selfish. Challenging and questioning an awful or absurd strategy decision is not being selfish. He could have been way more selfish, especially this year, before I'd think about calling him more selfish than any of the other drivers.
    I just don't get why anyone would think that about Sainz, like I don't even want to legitimize it. It's just ludicrous. Sainz is like the kid who gets yelled at and receives a detention for 'making faces' on the school bus, even though there's two other kids punching each other in the face, another is stealing somebody's lunch, a fourth is in the back mooning everybody, and the kid that got in trouble was having a sneezing fit and not even making faces to begin with. Sadly, I've also worked at the very same organization under different management that was an absolute toxic environment like Red Bull where "leadership's" method to get what they wanted was to make you feel like every day might be your last. What I can tell you is that the only thing a toxic environment like that accomplishes is wasting and chasing aware great talent. So am I surprised to hear all this from Carlos? Not in the least. I realize there are lots of guys who would look past this just to get a seat alongside Max, F1 seats are like golden eggs no matter what hell hole they come wrapped in. Perhaps one day Max will mature and realize that he has squandered a chance to be truly GREAT by supporting this toxicity.

    I still maintain that both the Red Bull Racing teams would be much better off if Marko was kept at a distance. The guy managing the junior driver academy doesn't need to be involved with the racing teams. Once the drivers make the step up to F1, he needs to shift his focus to the guys still in the junior categories. The media still talks about Marko as the team boss but that's Horner's role. If those who finance the organisation are not happy with Horner as team boss they replace him with someone else. Having two people acting like they run both teams is never going to work.

Without Marko, Horner would practically be the only guy who would have a say and make decisions, and Horner is there to manage the f1 team, not nurture talent. Hell, Horner is the reason the vcarb seat has been in such disarray, wasting precious time and experience for Lawson giving the seat to Ricciardo, instead of just promoting Lawson like Marko had been advocating for. And anyway, with two teams, and a literal junior team in F1, there’s no way Marko can just step back and handle only the feeder series. The RBJT pathway doesn’t end in F2, it ends with the promotion from Vcarb to the main Red Bull team. Marko plays that vital role of managing that in between in F1 as well.

    Carlos is kind of being treated like F1 treated Jenson Button. He went to Renault but was taken away for Fernando Alonso, went to BAR Honda, etc. until he ended up in Brawn where he won his WDC. Later on he went to McLaren but was never treated as the first driver due to Lewis Hamilton and later on Fernando Alonso, borrowing 2013 and 2014 where he was the first driver.

  • @EntropicExergy
    @EntropicExergy 16 часов назад

    There is nothing toxic about RB and TR and there are a couple of reasons for that. It's not RB that's toxic, it's F1 as a whole. Yup, they all are, it includes merc as well as ferrari and pretty much all the others. They all want to win and if that takes questionable or dubious methods, they'll use them. RB has acknowledged that and runs with it, having set up their junior team as such. Beat the other guy and you have a good shot at landing a seat at the main team. After all, your job in F1 is to beat the other guy and if you want to win the real prizes and become champion, you have to extend that job to the entire grid. Don't blame RB for it, it's the nature of the sport. And another reason easily glossed over is the fact that the Sainz' themselves had a big part in that toxicity. Why does nobody mention the BS stunt sr. tried to pull on RB and Max by spreading lies and misinformation about Max in spanish media? Because that is what happened and that would explain where the toxicity came from. Jos has had his run ins with the law and done some bad thing off track, but he never tried any low BS like Sainz sr. did. And when he found out about it, he just stepped in to rectify the situation and protect Max' prospects. Had Sainz sr. not pulled that stunt of his, the toxicity would have probably been far less. So there you go, just some reasons why Sainz shouldn't be whining about something that is partially caused by the nature of the sport and partially by what his own family did.

It does sadly explain the revolving door feeling about the place, and oddly it showed a lot of maturity from the Sainz camp (And later Ricciardo, as much as it did Not work out for him) in seeing the way things were and going 'No thanks - I'll find my own way' - Oddly both to Renault at first
    ...
    Although prime Sainz and Ricciardo in the same team? Damn, that's a what if and a half
