Hi everyone, we really hope you and your family, friends, neighbours and communities are doing well. I hope my little basement contraption puts a smile on your face, even if it’s only for a brief moment during these uncertain times. Hang in there. Hold your loved ones and family tight. Remind them that they’re loved and not alone. I’m working away at our upcoming Algonquin series, but in the meantime, please take care and be safe -Chris, Julia and Cedar :)

BABY IS SOOOO CUTE!!! That is so clever. Comes as good practice, paddling against strong currents, since a lot of times current will also push against your paddle while your straightening out your boat. Nice advice 😉🤓

For the last few years, I have adapted the standard rowing machine at the local gym. Hi Chris; Good to see you again. At my age I definitely need preseason prep. All I do is turn the normally horizontal handle vertical , put one hand over the end & the other near the bottom. Then I paddle 25 strokes on one side & then switch. Not perfect but it works all th right muscles. Problem < with Crona 19 the gym is closed. Thanks for the tip Brian 79

Yes a great idea, we used the same concepts in winter time during the seventies when we where training from season to season while i was involved in competitive canoe marathons. Watch tv paddle away for hours in the evenings. May have added more weights!

Cool. I don't see how you guys survive the winters up there. With a decent dry suit, we can pretty much paddle year 'round here. It was 84 degrees here on Friday. The last two winters have been really mild and I am not sure that we have gone over a week without a 60 degree day all winter. I see the weather up there and I about freeze just watching it. LOL!

Great idea for paddling. Especially as you get older - year around fitness is the way to go. Dropping everything for the winter is not good as you start back up in the spring it is torture and higher risk of injury.

Ontario Parks are currently closed and will be for an uncertain amount of time. With spring camping (and summer camping) around the corner are you planning to not go out at all? I am just curious because I am itching to get back out into the wilderness myself and I personally don't think the current events have an effect on this type of activity.
