Thank you so much for leaving this on. I know I should feel guilty but that was one of the funniest things I've seen in ages.

Went through the same thing with the filters on my 636. Now that I have the ZX14R, I use K and N oil filters with 17mm bolt attached to take it off and torque it 15ftlbs. It saves a lot of headaches.

You don't need to take the fairing off, you just need the correct tools. Think you should have left the jug out when filling up 😖 Also background music was really annoying!

The washers can be used again if they aren't damaged, if they are copper they can be re-annealed. Filter should be hand tight plus a bit 😉, and buy a jug with a spout attached which is made for oil changes 👍

    Hi Mate,
I paused this at 5:11 as it was just too painful to watch.
Whacking a screwdriver through the filter is always a last resort.
If you don't have the proper filter removal tool. Try a small sheet of rough sandpaper between the filter & your hand/rubber glove. Once you have the filter moving by 1/8th of a turn, you should be able to ditch the sandpaper.
But better still, treat yourself to a filter removal set from Fleabay etc. A set containing somewhere in the region of 20 different cups that fit over the end of the filter & grip the flats. Is only approx £20 inc delivery. All you need in addition is a 3/8ths drive which you already have. Another top tip to aid oil drainage is to remove the filler cap.
I'll finish watching the video now & hope for a happy ending 🙂

An oil jug with a flexible concertina pipe spout can be bought for a few quid
As can an oil filter strap removal tool
I think the Exon Valdez dropped less oil

Please, buy a Oil Filter Swivel Wrench (a special tool for filter remove), so this will save you so much time and nerves!
And why did you need this jug but not to pour directly from the bottle to the funnel?
Just wanted to come and help you because you drive specifically my dream-bike!
    Drive safe!

Uuuuh, why do an oil filter change without the tools? You clearly need an oil change kit, and you could also really use a Skylift if you want to do more…although oil changes would be a lot easier too.

Yes a Noob can change oil but can he make a proper video?

  • @granite676

Oil and filter is REAL easy on these, if you have right tools. You'll never get oil filter off by hand with all the heating and cooling cycles. Get yourself right sized cup to undo and if that won't get it off wrap some insulation tape around it coupla wraps tap cup back on again try again. Then if still not undoing try chain wrench type. Screwdriver and hammer really IS last resort.
If you want to make an even better video that'll be 4-5 hrs long do one of trying to change spark plugs !!!! 😂🤣😂🤣😂 need loadsa fancy adaptors and patience for that one 🤔🙄😟☹

There is nothing worse than dealing with an oil filter being put on by some half wit dolt that is way way to tight. These are also the idiots that don't put oil on the ring. I had an oil change when getting some maintenance done and when it came time to take the filter off I brook my oil filter wrench! The only thing you forgot is to put some oil into the filter before attaching it.
