Ngl the story is pretty good. I’m bout done with it and when you think about it as an anime and ACTUALLY pay attention to the story it gets kinda interesting. as an anime souls game it’s pretty remarkable

Warning for Spoilers of the story.
Well the story is pretty simple to be honest.
    1) A calamity happened and these things called Horrors appeared, humans tried to fight these Horrors, but to no avail.
    2) They found this B.O.R Parasite, that feeds on blood, taking control of a body, bringing it back to life.
    3) They found a candidate that was extremely potent with the Bor parasite, so they experimented with her blood, later becoming known as The Queen.
    4) Every Death a Revenant (People brought back with the Bor parasite), they lose part of their memory.
    5) And many of them became Lost, as they lost themselves to the hunger, the bor parasite changing and altering them, to hunt for blood.
    6) After XX amount of years of dying and being revived, no one remembers what the Horrors are, or what they relate too, so they think the Lost, is the Horrors spoken about.
    7) The queen went into a Frenzy, which caused the second crisis, called the Collapse, she was fighting both the Revenants and the Horrors at the same time, while also hunting for humans for their blood.
So that the character you play as, has been dead for no one knows how long, and has just revived from their death, explained by playing the game.
Everyone practically have Amnesia, and they fill the gaps with what little they think, or want to believe is what happened. This is why the story is so segmented, because everyone is filling in the gaps with little to nothing.
And the more a revenant dies and revives, the more vestiges they create, that is their memories. But few if any have ever been able to connect with the Bor parasite, in the same way your character has, since you basically have the Queen's Blood running through your veins, you became a vessel for her to live on. This is also why you survived, even when shot through the heart, which no Revenant should ever be able to survive. Except for, the Queen, who they have put in an Insinerator, crushed her, cut her to bits, they have tried everything, yet she keeps on regenerating back with little to no delay. So your blood being corrupted by the queen's, replacing yours with her's explains why your character can do stuff others can't.
Similar to *all* of the things like the Mistles, is the queen, the blood springs, is the queen, medicines and boosters, queen, they literally harvested her for her blood to make all of that before she went into a frenzy. Again explained in the story.
The importance of going through the Vestiges unlocks a ton of the story.
Like another example is Amnesia the Dark Decent, if you ignore all of the notes, journal pages to piece everything together, you miss out on the story.

The gripe I have is that the characters don't introduce themselves properly and the characterization all of it is just corny and so generic. I get going with something simple and using archetype tropes but this game doesn't even try. The writing is just confusing to me. Side quests and background characters are actually just filler content, waste of time.

Mostly spot on, save a few points of contention.
What are you talking about, Io dies too fast? In my experience at least she's one of if not the most sturdy companions, on top of also being the best support healer (excluding bonus DLC version of Mia). The only thing fragile about her is that he healing skill sacrifices most of her HP, but it also restores an equally large amount of your own, so as long as your always ready to return the favor there's nothing to worry about.
While City of Fallen Flames is literal pain to navigate, and Crown of Sand can be crippling to a caster build (albeit hardly even noticeable on a melee focused character), but Ridge of Frozen Souls is actually fair by comparison. The insta kill pitfalls are actually telegraphed quite clearly once you know what to look for, being blue ice as opposed to the white snow of the stable ground. There's also a slight delay before preceded by an audible cracking sound before falling giving you a split second to role to safety. As for howling pit, while it is very drab to look at, credit where credit is due, it's a "swamp" level in a souls-like without constantly being poisoned.
Successor of the Ribcage is far from the only two phase boss. Most bosses have enter a second phase where they get buffed stats and new attacks at around half health. Actually SotR, arguably doesn't even have phases, but rather is just two distinct fights, which you don't even have to fight back to back because if you die on the second fight you don't have to repeat the first.
Not sure how the blood veils are supposedly "underutilized". They are armor, worn as an accessory to your character's outfit instead of a replacement. They provide the typical expected defensive stats, as well as determining the potency of your magic attacks, and the blood drain feature can even be integrated into combos. Compared to armor in almost any other game, blood veils seem to do a lot more, so I'm just not sure what the shortcoming is supposed to be.
While I'll absolutely agree that Cathedral of Sacred Blood is trash, Crypt Spire is nowhere near as bad and completely undeserving of being written off as just Cathedral -2. It's share an similar pallet swapped aesthetic, but is otherwise laid out rather linearly upwards spiral, as opposed to all the twisting corridors of the Cathedral.
While the DLC's are certainly underwhelming for the cost (seriously they should only ever be purchased on sale), the actual new content is better than this video makes it out to be. The new bosses are certainly by far some of the most challenging in the game, on par with the final boss, but they aren't insurmountable with practice. As for the "new" equipment, while yes they are visually just repaints of stuff from the base game, the blood veils also have differing stats, and the weapons in edition to having diffing stats, also have some unique mechanics, especially the two bayonets in DLC2&3.
Speaking of Bayonets one of the new Blood Codes in DLC3 is also an absolute godsend to ranged builds, and for me at least nearly justifies the cost of entry alone... the only downside being because all the DLCs aren't available until near the end of the story and are also scaled to post game difficulty, there's not nearly enough opportunity to use them outside of repeated playthoughs in NG+.

There's a lot of cap in this video, atleast in the beginning section. The characters are all very unique and Likable and not every member of party needs some major role. Jack and Eva 'fell into the background' because they are side characters and any involvement they had ended with Mido. The rest of the cast was much more involved because they were connected to our character and the overall goal of finding a way to save Vein. I also have to disagree with the story being forgettable/simple. The story is very interesting and becomes more so as you play through the game. Unlocking the past of your allies and restoring your own memories.

I didn't have any clipping or texture map glitches, but I didn't buy this game until the big Bandai Namco 85% off promo. And I'm not running full bore on my VPU.
And I thought the music for this game sucked, but when I started playing it I had just come off a lockdown spergout on Nier:Automata. I thought the music sounded very blocky and mechanical, like listening to Handel on the ride home from seeing Mozart's Requiem. Keiichi Okabe is probably the best interactive composer to be born, Go Shiina is good and produces more work, but I was not as impressed by his work in Code Vein than I was with Demon Slayer. The load tunnels were silly. They could have peppered in some loot in the tunnels and they'd have a reason to be there. The grind in this game just to git gud early eclipses the storyline, but not as kindergarten as God Eater.

developers going too far with code vein. anyway i was stuck at 2 boss fight in game.
as how i played dark souls
story in general seems well, but how this area doesn't show in any god eater? that's after collapse?
they both showing the same world.
too many questions and with one answer
    SoundTrack, Go Shiina. :P

connecting this game to god eater was a mistake.
because of it the entire premise becomes a clusterfuck of stupidity and dyaus pita showing up puts the nail in the coffin befor cremating it.
the fact that the last third of the game becomes a massive info dump doesnt help either.
then there are the characters whos actions become dumber the further you get in the story to the point where you begin to wonder if your actions are even worth the effort or if youre actualy making things worse.
overall the game is trash and could have been a lot better if it was its own self contained story.
it took me close to 4 days to get through this game with a total completion time of around 25hours.
not because its hard but because i couldnt bring myself to keep playing multiple times thanks to mostly the bad writing.
