I've been a game kid since the early 90s. Yet this channel introduces me to all kinds of stuff I've never heard of, Good times!
4:40 here’s an interesting fact. The ambience music used here is from an album called Pandoras Toolbox. Resident evil 4s save them is directly from that album.
If you listen closely to the timestamp you can hear that the song playing is also in Devil May Cry (ps2)
Wow!! How cool is that! Will definitely look into this further, thanks for letting me know!
LOL, that bubbling sound effect though at around the 19:00 mark or so, it sounds like someone literally took a glass of water, and blew into it witth a straw for about 5 seconds, then mixed in that sound as the loudest sound in that cutscene where you find Schneider turned someone into that hideous form.
Lol that's so true!
Some translation for the first thing she says. :)
夢か?怖かった。。。
Yume ka? Kowa katta...
Thanks for making this walkthrough. I got stuck on the first password puzzle and had to come here. Even after watching you put in the passcode, I still can't figure out how to actually solve the puzzle. I'd be at a complete standstill if this video didn't exist.
Thank you, I'm glad to hear it was helpful for you!
Wow, this a lot like Silent Hill. The inventory and the camera. A little low budget looking but maybe thats what makes it special!
Absolutely! It's got so much going for it, but just a bit janky. Like some weird anime that came on at 2 am.
As this is a long video, there are going to be at least more than 1 comment from me. Here we go.
Hey!!! That guy opposite Reina in the opening cutscene... that looks like Jan Lee from Dead or Alive 1 on the Sega Saturn :)
1:22:53 LOL, it was funny to hear a japanese VA saying Das Vidanya (Goodbye in Russian) with a japanese accent.
It's actually "до свидания" or "do svidaniya". Svidaniya means goodbye, and do literally means "to" but it's used in Russian before certain words.
@@hoobaguy4311 Thanks!
LOL that ending though, Key was about to get some, and other guy had to ruin it. lol! At least in RE dead aim, Bruce and Fao Ling got it on without being interrupted :)
Haha well there's apparently multiple romantic endings! So maybe he will? I bought the Japanese strategy guide so when I get the time I'll talk all about it
@@raccooncitycinema Great! Looking forward to it.
By the way, did you have a chance to watch the music video again but with the added context I provided? The Claire one...
@@TheBengalDragon sorry not yet, been busy, exhausted, and sleep deprived
@@raccooncitycinema Oh, sorry to hear that. Anyways, take your time, get rest and once you get to it, do let me know what you think with the added context in mind.
Also just subscribed to your channel!
Thank you so much for that and your time man!
I play co-op with my girlfriend and got stuck where Kei got MO disk from Reina at super computer room and must wait for Reina at Laboratory entrance at 1F but my girlfriend can't open the door with "ARK" engraved to it. It really confusing.
It is really confusing. I haven't made it that far in co-op so sorry I can't help you out right now. If I ever get the time I do intend to do a co-op playthrough.
Well, as for what they tried to do in this game, let me point you to Fallout 3. The game redefined the fallout franchise and brought it outside of the TBC style game. In fact, my friend when he first played it, the first thing he said is"Now THAT'S how you make a survival game with RPG elements." and having played Fallout 3, NV and 4, I would have to agree.
Perhaps the technology was just not there yet for the dreamcast to pull the companion system off so smoothly like it was in Fallout 3 and beyond.
Apart from that, I think your review of this game perfectly sums up this game. Good ideas, bad execution.
Ironic isn't it? Code Veronica, another game that had a VERY GOOD idea in terms of the story, but had TERRIBLE execution, also came out during that time... guess it was just a bad period for the Dreamcast for survival horror games lol.
Fallout 3 was my first Fallout game and yeah you're right, they nailed it.
But I have to respectfully disagree about Code Veronica's execution, I think it's the gold standard of survival horror on Dreamcast.
@@raccooncitycinema On Dreamcast maybe, but overall, CVX is the one game that really stands out, not only because they took a few steps back from RE3 (for example, what sense does it make to remove the dodge feature and the crafting ammo feature on a game on a superior console?) but the story was MUCH more character focussed, and specifically Claire Redfield. RE3 did not focus on Jill's character or too much about the relationship with Carlos, beyond trying to escape alive. RE1 did not do that between Jill and Barry, or Chris and Rebecca beyond trying to escape alive. Even in RE2, Leon's dynamic with Ada is mostly about escaping (that's why the falling in love after 2.5 hours, whereas Steve and Claire had the entire day, makes even less sense than Kyle Reese and Sarah Conor, who also fell in love, and Sarah got pregnant in 24 hours LOL)
IT's only Claire that has an element of relationship building on top of escaping, and CVX focussed on that. But for the love of God, the failure in execution is in how cheesy the game was in so many parts. Also, Capcom shifted the focus of the story from Claire's character to Chris's heroics at the most significant time of Claire's character arc.
And you know I have shown this clearly in my analysis video.
Anyways, sorry for the long comment. Let me know what you think.
And yes, Fallout 3 is the game that got me hooked on the franchise. That's why Fallout 76 was such a let down.
@@TheBengalDragon well I don't really see it as a removal of mechanics, but rather a difference in vision of what each game is supposed to be. CV wasn't meant to be an action game like RE3 and maybe they found if you can dodge that takes away the horror aspect? And it has an already wide arsenal, maybe they wanted more guns instead of ammo mixing? Just my thoughts. I don't see CV lacking in that respect and it feels to me like a natural extrapolation of RE2.
I agree with the character focus. And yeah, the Chris switcheroo did a big disservice to Claire.
@@raccooncitycinema that's the thing, it's a natural extrapolation of RE2 (ONLY gameplay wise, coz Claire's initial mission of locating Chris was over in the 1st 15 minutes or so), when the audience already had the RE3 experience. And RE3 was very challenging even with those features. For one, the Nemesis could long range attack you from the verybeginning, and I believe was very fast, unlike Mr X, on top of being a bullet sponge.
RECVX has more guns coz it's a larger game on the next gen console, so of course it'll have more guns, longer, gameplay, more cutscenes, more dialogue, etc. Just like MGS2 has more weapons than MGS1.
Weird, yet🤔refreshing
haha agreed. That could be the quote on the box!
Did someone ever found out what is supposed the level 2 code on the pc?
Not that I'm aware of, but if I hear anything I'll get back to you
What if I get infected and also Kei lost like 90% health
I don't know, it's been a while since I played this
Looks like a Sega Saturn game.
Yeah, I think I said the same thing in my other video. I wasn't able to find much development info on this game but I bet development started on Saturn and was moved over to DC
@@raccooncitycinema I wonder why it looks like crap compared to Shenmue then, it was the same way.
@@clintgardner7422 well Shenmue was the most expensive game ever developed at the time so budget would be the biggest factor. Also Sega's AM2 is legendary.
This could have been rushed to beat code veronica to market too. I probably would've been pissed if I bought this thinking I was getting a next gen Dreamcast game
This looks like a silent hill game
Yeah it looks really similar, especially some of the later areas when everything is all worn down
Having watches the beginning parts of this gameplay, I can say that this game perhaps took some advantage of Dreamcast's processors, but not in the graphics department. This is because much of the walls feel so bland, and lacking in texture. I mean, some of it looks worse than Wolfenstein 3d, where you at least had bricks, symbols, pictures, a jail cell and even blood. Here's it's just so... bland. and I know the Dreamcast was much more capable than this.
Surprised that KOEI, who made Dynesty warriors made this game.
Yes, I couldn't find much information about the development of this game, but I really think it was meant for the Sega Saturn instead, and was moved to the Dreamcast. Or maybe they were just really unfamiliar with Dreamcast development given how early it was into the systems life?
Sorry it's taken so long to respond
@@raccooncitycinema Not a problem at all my friend. Life happens and I completely understand that.
