- Lockdown Golden Rod Review, test, and explanation. In this video I explain how the golden rod works. I install it and show the power draw, cost, and how it affects the humidity levels inside of a safe.

thanks so much.. i had no @#@# clue how the wire connected to the plug.( no instructions)
Haha! Glad I could help!
I would prefer the vertical install but I think the most effective way and possibly only way it works well is a horizontal install at the bottom of the safe. Good video thanks
Yeah I am sure it would be more even that way, and slightly more effective.
Thanks for being so through...
Your time lapse shows a temperature on the meter starting out at 17C and then it slowly decreases ending at 13C…I thought the rod was supposed to increase the temp in the safe? What am I missing here?
Can u leave them on 24hr a day /every day
Yep, mine has been going ever since I installed it. Although it is dry enough here in the summer I don't really need it.
My safe is at 75% humidity, will it still work for me?
Wow! 75%! Do you have rust issues? It will help, but you may need more then just the golden rod. Perhaps some passive de-humidifiers.
@@TheLarkinsLair It’s been like that for about 15 years but thankfully no rust on the guns nor corroded ammo. The rod didn’t work in reducing the humidity, only a few % if that so I returned it. I put a dehumidifier in the room and that dropped the safe down to about 55%. I’ll take it. Wisconsin is a very humid State.
@@steveo13757 Wow, glad you don't have rusty guns. That is one perk of living in a desert out west is I don't even need a de-humidifier half of the year.
We oil often in the Midwest.
I’m at 41% humidity and 88 degrees inside my safe. Should I be worried about the high temperature damaging my firearms? No woodstock material only steel barrels. I have the safe in my garage. I appreciate your feedback.
