When I was 10 or 12, we went into the bush with an alpine and supplies and a salamander. In 6feet of snow we dug out our d7, put in the salamander,,a propane fanforced heater under Neath warmed up the beast, started the pup, engaged the engine clutch, then I turned on the diesel, barump barump,, man the power emitted from that d7 diesel is unforgettable, pup off, get outta the way,, and he just baroom barooom drove out and made a road, one of the coolest memories of my life, thank-you dad. 😊
@donaldkydd993 wow! That's awesome! Firing up and running this dozer for the first time since my dad passed was a lot more difficult than I anticipated. Growing up, any time the D7 was doing anything I was always right there for it. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Nice old dozer! At 43:25 if the blade was raised to hit near the top of the stump the force to roll the stump out would have been greatly increased, likely more then doubled.
@jimthode thanks! I agree. I try to leave it a little low on the stump so I have room to pick up once I get up against it to put more weight on the tracks. One time when I was a kid dad was pushing a stump out and the blade jumped over it and got stuck behind the C frame, blade wouldn't pick up high enough to go back over it. That was a mess I'd rather not re-create lol Thanks for watching!
Nice 3T. I see it has the remains of the factory canopy. I remanufactured the wood portions from cat blueprints for my 1H D8. You are fortunate to have some good patterns from your existing oak. Something to consider if you want a bit of shade. Either way, nice tractor and video.
Thank you. It used to have a roof with shingles on it. But got ripped off by a low hanging branch. I've toyed with the idea of building a canopy out of steel to help protect me from falling branches. Thank you for watching and commenting.
All the red oaks around my place look the same. Rotten in the middle and evertime the wind blows a little they come down. Makes good fire wood. Dont think people understand what the cat was pushing when you moved the whole tree. Them old oaks are heavy. Takes alotta muscle to move one that size.
@davidtipton7234 agreed that tree was every bit of 4 foot diameter at the stump. I was also being cautious to make sure nothing was coming over the blade. All it takes is one stick aimed just right to poke a hole in the radiator. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Pony engine should run at another rpm for 5 mins with main engine turning over to warm cylinder head, with compression off, then start main engine. this comes from an old retired operator!
nope, deisel engine is warmed by running with compression on run, read the cat manual ,any 'old operater' shoud know this ,also sounds like a very sick d-7 with very little lugging power
@londolly have you ever ran a hand clucth, cable blade machine. It doesn't have a torque converter. If you don't get out of it, you'll stall it. It's not lacking for power either. If you are spinning the tracks, you've got all the power you need. Go play with your powershift transmission and Gameboy control dozer. I'll stick with the old iron.
@londolly It is somewhere in the neighborhood of 93 horsepower or so. It's all about the torque and the gearing. Judging by your other comments, I'd be willing to bet you would either stall it or 2 block the blade and snap the cable within the first 20 minutes of running it. So yeah, I'd say its not for you either.

@@londolly it is a D7
❤❤❤❤
Каркас кабины развалился. Закрепи).
If you tell me your sierial number i can tell u exactly what year it is
Cool as the old D7s might be they have very little power
Got torque for days. It's all in the gearing.

What year is your D7?
From what I've been told, according to the serial number it is a 1953. I've never looked it up myself.
Thanks for watching
its a d6 , not a d7 , are you blind ?
What i have seen of your dozer i am pretty sure its. Newer than a 3 T
Nope serial number is 3T24510
It's no 17A.
It takes a while to learn how to do that you're making some mistakes but you'll get it worked out
I am no professional by any means.
Thanks for watching!
Try stumping with one of those all day. It will wear you out...
Oh yeah. I did 4 pretty large oak stumps and on massive cherry stump. My whole body was sore the next day, especially my clutch arm.
spoked idlers old
Only one of them lol
every time you have it you let go and back off , thats dumb and drop another gear and if that dosent work , sell the thing

engine is weak at best , not for me
