I absolutely love watching these will it run videos. It always amazes me how durable these old cats are. When you drained the oil pan I thought there was no way this thing would even turn over. Well done man.
Dude your approach to walking up to anything with an engine is impressive. I would have walked away from engines that only needed new spark plugs; however, you pull off the unthinkable. That is so inspiring to us. I think if there were more of you out there. Noone would go out and buy new cars or trucks, because we would just have you fix them up at a cheaper cost. I used to run a Cat 955 and 977 for a small excavation company, these machines were great and ran fairly strong all the time. Dead batteries were the only thing that stopped them from working. Use ours for lot clearing, cuttings pads and demo jobs. One of the bast and easiest machines to run, better if it has a 4 in bucket.
I had my doubts about this one!! but "WOW" she started right up after a shot of either, and kept starting right after, I think if someone cleaned this old CAT up she would make a good yard Dozer.
This is the type of things that I really love to do,bringing back an equipment back to life when it looks like it can't work again. You did a good job here.
Hello Chris! Well this was a lot of fun, I can't believe how good the motor sounds. When I saw all of the water in the oil I was thinking that it was done for. Really cool that Andrew ended up with the Dozer. Thumbs UP to you, I hope that you Jen and Gus have an awesome weekend!
Watching from Australia. What a mechanic. Works on the cruddiest, oldest, filthy machines and gets 'em going. Can't stop watching. Loved the line (paraphrasing): "Yep, that could be hydro-lock and this movement could snap the crankshaft. Meh, what I've got to lose." Chris, please keep these programs coming. They are fabulous.
That Loader is amazing man. It goes like a new one that sat ..& sat... & that it started so readily . It fired before the ether and the steering clutch/brake on the one side works "like new". This was the most progressive and entertaining "will it start?" in the history of old machines. ( and cars )
I’m sooooooo happy you and Andrew know each other. I’ve been watching his vids for quite some time now. As soon as you were rolling up his driveway I knew it was him….and then I saw the container castle🕺🏼🕺🏼🕺🏼

It never ceases to amaze me how indestructible those old diesels are. I've seen dozens of videos where someone does a little work to one that sat neglected for decades and then they just run. Theres a bulldozer that has been sitting at an old farm not far from my home since I moved to the area almost 30 years ago, I remember my school bus would drive past it every day when I was in early high-school, if I remember correctly it had a US Army stencil on the side. Looked like it was very old. Maybe WWII surplus. Wonder if it would start.

Yoo... I just came across this vid, & was compelled to see just how far a person's determination can go. I'm sittin' on an auto restoration project, that's got me tougue-tided, because the parts I'll need, are scarce and therefore my '91 GTI may sit shrouded, and housed for yet for another decade. But after I watched you toil-over all the repair issues it took resurrect the 977; I felt the need to put my dream machine, back on the road again. So, I have you to thank for the encouragement. Continue the great work.
My dad actually ran one of those, day in and day out. He was an operating engineer and worked many jobs around Pittsburgh. It did my heart good to see you revive such a grand old machine.
I love those old cat crawlers. The power they had back then were incredible. Not like this electric over hydraulic junk not a days! Great vid Chris as always!
I watched this video from start to finish and loved every minute of it.Well done on getting it going again, you certainly know your stuff. It must be the best video I've seen on getting an abandoned machine going again. Thanks for showing it.
What an amazing machine, to sit outside neglected for so many years and then fire right up and actually move..... They don't make them like that anymore... Great job Chris!
A fellow from New Zealand named Marty T has a RUclips channel and he has rescued a few tractors, bulldozers, excavators, and various types of machinery. One very good video shows a TD9 bulldozer that was abandoned way up country with serious mechanical issues and he rescued it and brought it back to life.
I have 2 Cat 955s a K and an L. The K has a winch like that. when I bought they said it wouldn't move. It turned that the PIO lever was out of gear. I drove it off the truck. I cant believe someone would scrap that 977. Its a power shift and there are lots of valuable parts on it. Cat still supports 50+ year old equipment. Early 70s D7 G and Fs bring more than $50,000 on many sales and thats to dealers. The 977 has been rode hard and put away wet. When you see wear like that on the steer pedals and the pin holes are oval shaped, its worn out. The "mud" in the strainer is bacteria that grows in steel tanks with diesel or kerosene when water is present. it will stop up filters fast. Power Service makes a tank cleaner. Dont forget to put in antifreeze,
I have huge respect to folks like you, who dig - literally dig - into a major Project like this deflected CAT and bring it back to life for useful work. I’m new here and will be watching every video you create in this Great Mechanical Adventure. I admired your determination/guts when you crawled under this big old CAT and proceeded to remove that 1/2” skid plate, protecting that crankshaft gear. That old Cat really wanted to live! It's great that you were able to start it and get it to move under it's own power. It'll make somebody a great machine.
One of the best Will It Starts I have seen. This video inspired me to get started my Fathers' 1970s International tractor which sat for 12 years and water got in through a corroded exhaust pipe.

this vid is just incredible!! If you would have seen this piece sitting like it was in the woods, you would think it would never be useful again except for a scrapyard. It was amazing how you got that thing back to life again, it was cool how you knew exactly what it needed and how quickly you got it running again!! Great video!!!

Without even watching this I can tell you this, I would buy that in a heartbeat, I've actually been looking for a front end loader cat for a couple years now. They're the ultimate utility machine. Used to have a international harvester drott with a three-in-one front loader bucket, owned it for years and used it for everything, finally sold it only because I couldn't find parts for it anymore
How amazing is it that you get that dozer running after 37 years with just time know how & persistence!! That is so cool hope you and take it home and do more videos on its restoration!!!!👍👍👍
Dude don't know why but I became emotionally involved in you getting her running, the cheers when she fired up and when you got her moving were very loud . 🎉🎉 Looking forward to part 2 👍😁
Hi there! Just wanted to say thank you for being relatable and down to earth with your videos, I really appreciate your genuine unscripted approach to things in the videos like, “what the heck, let’s give it a shot” it keeps me coming back. I myself am drawn to the people with channels who don’t over edit or over produce things. It’s like talking over things or working together on a project with your buddy. Wrenching and fixing things, it’s already in our make up, and your videos make us feel like not only is it possible to tackle a project, but that we’ve been friends already for a long time! Let’s do it together, so to speak. Thanks again, and we’ll keep watching.
Back in the 80s I worked on and operated a 977 cat and they are a true working man's rig. Unbelievable how much abuse they can take and still go and the easiest rebuild I have ever worked with. King Cat.😊
First time watching your videos so i dont know your abilities but honestly from the beginning I felt pretty confident in the machine running, old cats run forever!
Fun revival!! Love seeing these old machines brought back. Enjoyable style: informative but not condescending like some others get. A water trap on the exhaust makes a lot of sense to me!
Well, that was awesome. As long as the motor was not seized up, I figured it would run. I’m surprised it had enough spark left in it to actually fire up. Looking forward to part 2.
As soon as I seen that drive way I know that was Andrew's place, I've followed his channels for years and you couldn't of found a better person to bring that cat back to life.
With all the water that came out of there I'm absolutely amazed it's running and driving! I knew you would bring it to Andrew's house, I bet that'll be a good machine when you put a little bit of time and effort into it. Another excellent video. Thanks Dude keep em coming 👍☮️
Love your vids, perfect mix of "Mad Max" and technically correct road service repairs. I get a kick out of the way you don't hesitate a second before you crawl under, through who knows what, to check on cranking the engine. Well done sir, well done!
Y’all need to hook up on a video. Already mentioned to you about the big track hoe in Huffman Texas. Just sitting there for years. Can still see it from the road during the winter and the leaves are off the trees.
Yes! Just found your channel a week or so ago, and have been on an absolute rabbit hole with you. Your channel has easily become one of my favorites. Right up there with mortske! Keep up the good work and great content. Love it
Same here started watching this guy 3 weeks ago think I've watched all his vids dude is intelligent he can fix and makes anything work. When I buy another 3 wheeler I'm taking it to him to go threw Lol I don't live to far from those areas hes always talking about hes In
Hey, me and my husband love you!!! You really amaze me because when there is a problem, you already say hey its probably this or that, and you are on point!!! I have a request. .... will you consider doing a video with just gus he can make you alot of money, I really don't care about the old cars and old boats however I look forward to seeing gus. You are awesome. Keep your hair long or short because you can rock it any way you like. Your personality is great!!!!
I've heard you should avoid the Force motors, but I do hope you get the boat. The boat builds are what brought me to your channel and I've stayed for the rest.
Awesome! Really wasn't expecting it would run let alone Move! Great to see Andrew providing a home & look forward to seeing more of this one 👌 Keep up.the great content ❤🙏
Oh man, STRAIGHT away when I saw the first glimpse of the road, I laughed and said to myself "that MUST be Andrew´s place!" ...and I was right, maybe should add that this is the first time ever I watched something from your channel ^^ She purrs like a kitten and she sure wanna live, she has gotten a great new home for sure!
I’m pretty new to diesels having just bought a sail boat with an old Perkins/Volvo engine but I’m loving working on it (most of the time). They just seem more “alive” than petrol engines, more rugged. Loved watching this old bruiser come back to life after being forgotten for so long. 👍👍👍👍👍

International drott was one of the first machines I ever drove. Was over 30 years ago and getting old then. I loved it though 😁
One must congratulate you for your perseverance and confidence in dealing with this old Carterpillar!
Just plain superb.....am coming back to watch Part 2
Back in the 80s I worked on and operated a 977 cat and they are a true working man's rig. Unbelievable how much abuse they can take and still go and the easiest rebuild I have ever worked with. King Cat.😊
First time watching your videos so i dont know your abilities but honestly from the beginning I felt pretty confident in the machine running, old cats run forever!
I just discovered your channel today and subscribed immediately. I love seeing old things brought back to life. I look forward to more episodes.
This was awesome to watch!
This hits home. I'm a diesel mechanic and I love what I do!
I can't believe how good condition all the tracks and running gear are in! look forward to the next great video thanks for posting!!
Thanks mate for that! My jaw dropped at least 3 times while watching!! Freaked out when that hose blew through! All the best! 😁👍
Fun revival!! Love seeing these old machines brought back.
Enjoyable style: informative but not condescending like some others get.
A water trap on the exhaust makes a lot of sense to me!
damn I'm watching in Jamaica an I'm super impressed that it actually stay, much less run woooow
Well, that was awesome. As long as the motor was not seized up, I figured it would run. I’m surprised it had enough spark left in it to actually fire up. Looking forward to part 2.
Love seeing old engines being brought back to life🔥
As soon as I seen that drive way I know that was Andrew's place, I've followed his channels for years and you couldn't of found a better person to bring that cat back to life.
I love andrew sir
Oh Wow! I watch every Andrew Camerata video! I'm a big fan. I see you driving up his drive and I knew instantly you were at his place!!! Cool video .
My goodness she fired up, love your enthusiasm, thank you for your videos.
This is awesome you got that going. Today’s technology is not going to sit 37 yrs and get to run
With all the water that came out of there I'm absolutely amazed it's running and driving! I knew you would bring it to Andrew's house, I bet that'll be a good machine when you put a little bit of time and effort into it. Another excellent video. Thanks Dude keep em coming 👍☮️
Operated the 977 with a 4 in 1 bucket for 10 years. That loader can do so many jobs and it's fun to operate. I miss that machine.
Amazing how the old stuff will run again. Even abused she ran. Getting it to rotate was so coolto see. Try letting a new one sit that long. Nuh uh
Love your vids, perfect mix of "Mad Max" and technically correct road service repairs. I get a kick out of the way you don't hesitate a second before you crawl under, through who knows what, to check on cranking the engine. Well done sir, well done!
Nice work👍
Y’all need to hook up on a video. Already mentioned to you about the big track hoe in Huffman Texas. Just sitting there for years. Can still see it from the road during the winter and the leaves are off the trees.
Hey Hank
Omg man you are awesome. Love your videos I'm addicted
It's always a great time seeing old vehicles and equipment get a second shot at life.
When I buy another 3 wheeler I'm taking it to him to go threw Lol I don't live to far from those areas hes always talking about hes In
I really respect people that are machine savvy and capable of repair engines
It’s amazing how resilient these old machines are. Thanks for the great video.
It amazes me every time, the things that you breathe life back into. I love your videos'. Can't wait to see part two!!
Vê essas máquina de volta a vida novamente não tem preço parabéns
Yes watching you and camarata is all the entertainment I need , as I don’t watch mainstream tv at all , THANKS GUYS
The time and effort you put into these vehicles is mind blowing!
This is an awesome “ how to” video of how to get started bringing these old timers back to life. Thanks for sharing your knowledge…
AJ
especially for Andy
Great to see Andrew providing a home & look forward to seeing more of this one 👌
Keep up.the great content ❤🙏
Good luck getting the old girl running I know you are the man to get it running
Pretty amazing that it started after, 37 years? 👍👍 Undercarriage / Tracks look to be in relatively good shape. Looking forward to part 2.
Oh man, STRAIGHT away when I saw the first glimpse of the road, I laughed and said to myself "that MUST be Andrew´s place!" ...and I was right, maybe should add that this is the first time ever I watched something from your channel ^^
She purrs like a kitten and she sure wanna live, she has gotten a great new home for sure!
I’m pretty new to diesels having just bought a sail boat with an old Perkins/Volvo engine but I’m loving working on it (most of the time). They just seem more “alive” than petrol engines, more rugged.
Loved watching this old bruiser come back to life after being forgotten for so long.
👍👍👍👍👍
