Interesting sketchbook! I was stressing out when you pulled the tape off the first page and it ripped up the paper, lol! The masking fluid too…wah! 😵💫
Love the Jeep!❤❤❤ I used very low tac washi tape on mine…completely forgot that was a characteristic of handmade paper 😫 Even with a heat tool, it damaged the paper. A faint pencil line and very careful edges, that’s my advice 😊
Thanks so much for sharing! You give me hope I can give Viviva another chance! I hated their previous sketchbook so much. Lol I loved seeing all your paintings!! 💗
Seems like fun paper to play with but I've found khadi paper does not do well with regular tape, works ok with washi but washi doesn't hold it down well lol so really there is no point in using it to hold it down but maybe ok for a horizon line? I have found khadi takes forever to dry as well. So im guessing theyre super similar. I personally like this as a fun and enjoyable paper to use for "play" is the best way I can explain it. If your trying to do a detailed painting or even just a traditional painting it would be pretty difficult especially if your approaching it like your using a typical watercolor paper. The truck painting is so cute! Thanks for sharing! Gosh I wish we had some snow! I absolutely love the snow and we didn't get any last year, just a few flurries at the most. I told my husband we need to move north! I need some snow in my life! Lol. Love the puppies! Have a great day
interesting! i didn't think any paper would be softer than khadi. that's definitely up my alley :D what a unique sketchbook to try one day. thank you for a thorough review mirandaaa
Love the paintings. That looks like the sketchbook I have from last years inktober. I stopped at day 11. I didn’t like the paper. It kept peeling when I painted and everything that happened to you 😢 Can’t explain since I’m not very experienced
Lovely paintings to test the new sketchbook! I love the vehicle! It’s such a shame that tape and masking fluid won’t work, but good warning for folks who pick up one of those books.
Thanks for sharing, Miranda. It’s just another Amazon package that I will have to pray arrives while the hubby is at work. LOL I blew through my art budget the first week of the month.
I'd really like to see this test repeated while leaving the paper to dry completely on both the first page and the second. I never put tape on even damp paper. and same with masking fluid. I also never use my heat gun over tape- just like masking fluid. Not sure it's the paper, just the amount of moisture still in the paper while you did your tests.
Miranda, I wonder how the paper would work for urban sketching. I don’t use tape or masking fluid for that but I do use a fountain pen and watercolor of course.
Hi Miranda, your paintings are great! I got a Derwent Academy pad, someone said it’s ok for beginners… the paper is more like painting on granny’s plastic tablecloth with that fabric look of the paper. Might try the other side.
Oooh so interesting! I usually only paint on white or extra white paper, but since it has the same feel as khadi it's definitely worth trying! I've heard many artists dislike khadi paper because the colors are not vibrant when you paint on them, do you feel this sketchbook has the same issue- personally I love khadi but I thought some might benefit from this info 😅
Oh no! This is one of many comments I've seen where this sketchbook hasn't been enjoyed - I guess I should play with it even more and see what happens!

I wouldn't mind leaving the snow, lol. But I've been here for a long time, so I've had my fill. 😁

You're welcome - glad it was useful!
Loved the paintings Miranda, the car looks like its in the rain and all misty
It's one of my favorites now. 😍
Love the car painting

Don’t try to erase pencil either 😩
Oh dear, now I'm worried! I'm going to have to paint in this sketchbook a LOT more and see what happens. I really liked it with these two pages.

Love your vehicle, it reminds me of a jeep, creative way to paint it with the masking fluid.
Thank you!

Hahaha, oh that is hilarious! 😆
oooh, I might try this once I've finished up my paul ruebens watercolor sketchbook. I do love a cream paper.
You should! Based on the comments, I'd be curious if you either love it or hate it, lol.
I am late. Very nice paintings. Nice paper, too. The puppies are so cute and energetic! I wish I had that kind of energy. 🐕🎨
Yeah, their energy is endless!
I had trouble gently erasing on the paper as well.

I felt that I did let it dry completely, but I will try it again to be sure.
nice
Thanks.
Thank you for sharing Miranda, beautiful paintings and so helpful! Loved the mini sketchbook tour too lol xx
Thank you, Sketches!

I will be trying it with several other mediums in the future!
Very good review, Miranda. I love the paintings. Is it already snowing in Colorado? Have a great weekend.
It is now, but it wasn't then - that was an old video of the pups

Oh yikes, that sounds unpleasant, lol.
Thank you so much for sharing, but i dont that sketchbook is for me

I think they're quite vibrant still.
Do you know if the sizing is animal gelatin? Their website does not say what the sizing is & I can't find any additional info about sizing. Thanks.
It is not; the sketchbook is vegan.
I really disliked this sketchbook!! Even Washi tape tore my paper!! But beautiful work!!
Oh no! This is one of many comments I've seen where this sketchbook hasn't been enjoyed - I guess I should play with it even more and see what happens!
Definitely way beyond my skill level. Would be wasted on me.
Maybe not! Might be a good way to play...
