    The Baohong comes in a 27 cm x 10 meter rolls making it even cheaper. The roll includes a pair of white cotton gloves to protect the paper from the oils on your hands.

    Pretty sure that when Meeden first came out with the paper, it had 'Baohong Academy' in little tiny writing on the cover. With Meeden being a popular price art supply company, it only makes sense that they would go after a paper supplier, in order to complete their product line. FWIW - FYI - In a couple other comparison videos I've seen, the artists concluded the same way as you have, that the Artist grade was a hint better than the Academy. Thanks for doing this!

    Baohong is my absolute favorite paper. I just wish I had a good way to trim the glue off the blocks. Paint gets on it and transfers to the next painting when it gets wet. And no, I don't want to tape the edges. It's the whole reason I use a block. I use an exacto knife now, but on occasion I nick the paper or glue too much. One day there will be an answer! 🤣 Thanks for this video, I reallly loved the tests you did, and your paintings are lovely! Glad I found your channel. 🌻

    • @bealaart
      @bealaart  2 месяца назад +3

      Thank you so much! I'm so glad you found my channel, too! The only thing I have found that works is an exacto knife. Nothing else will cut through it cleanly. I hold the knife at about a 45 degree angle to the edge for best results. It seems to work well as long as I go slowly. I usually clean the edge every other page so the knife will have a little more to grab onto.

    I’ve used baohong and have been quite happy with it. I’d like to try the Meeden; but, have a full stock of paper.
    One thing that I noticed and is worth mentioning about the tool that comes with it… It protects your paper from accidental nicks, tears, etc. I used to use a palette knife; but, have damaged the paper that way. With their tool, I haven’t had any problems at all.

    • @bealaart
      @bealaart  6 месяцев назад +3

      I agree the tool is much better than a palette knife, but I have damaged my paper even with the tool by letting the glue edge build up from the previous pages. As long as I keep that trimmed and go slowly, I don't have a problem. Side note: Legions paper seems to me to be very difficult to get off the block without tearing no matter what tool I use. Just curious, if you've used Legions, have you noticed that, too?

    Hello Teresa, I'm Teresa too! This is EXACTLY how I figure the cost for my paper. I was fooled into thinking GenCraft would be the best price as well, until I figure the cost per square inch. I would prefer the Bahoung Artist's too. But I hate when any company makes the paper size (8×10) a little too small (7×10) to fit into a standard 8x10 frame. Same with other standard sizes. I think many companies do that so you have to buy a bigger size then it down to fit, wasting some paper.
