Windows XP and Windows 7 are known as some of the best operating systems ever made, but you have to thank Windows ME and Vista for all of that, they were both just too ahead for their time. Aka just a few years or so
In a sense, Vista was ahead of its time. But it will always have stigma surrounding it, mainly due to it kinda being rushed (did they not make sure it was compatible with hardware at first) And it was buggy too (Though later fixed, though it was too late)

Wow. I remember watching this when I booted our new Windows ME PC for the first time... despite how terrible the OS was, it was so much of an upgrade compared to our old 486 on Windows 3.1 that it didn't matter.
Ha, I remember this video playing when I first started up my new Windows ME computer back in 2000. It replaced a 4 year old Windows 95 machine. Seemed like a huge upgrade at the time. How things change.
Very nostalgic for me ❤ Good times for being interested in computers. Back then I had goosebumps while watching this video. It was a cool experience. This commercial looks so clean. It hypes you up. Also, I think the Windows ME was not a bad OS. I used it back then and had no problems although I switched quickly to the Windows 2000 because I used ME near the end of its prime time. For me, this OS was judged too harshly and people just repeated the same mantra over and over again until it became true.
These specs were for a new PC from around 2000 that was first supplied with only 64 Mb RAM. I requested it have 128 Mb, since the lesser setup was slow with multimedia of the time (it had fast Internet, so I knew it was the amount of RAM). After the RAM upgrade, using the computer was a breeze. I also took very good care of the hard drive and the OS, keeping it updated & secure, and since its users mostly used Netscape for business, then viruses and exploits never made it there.
It’s interesting reading exaggerations about Windows Me supposed “instability. Windows Me was no more unstable than 95 or 98 at the time of their release and like 95/98, most of the instability would be patched out. Because XP came out barely a year later with many improvements, most people of that time who used both remember only the bad of Windows Me given how superior XP was. The only reason that Windows ME was bad was because it was DOS based, not NT based like its predecessor, Windows 2000. Because both 2000 and ME came out in 2000, people could get the two confused with each other. I have noticed that ME looks an awful lot like Windows 98. I saw on this intro video for Windows ME the left and right speakers that are the unbadged versions of the Labtec Spin-50 (LCS-1050) computer speaker system that was made before Labtec got swallowed up by Logitech in 2001. I have a pair of those speakers currently in service, despite that they're out of production.
