At 1:04:40 Sajam says "Most of the time the execution is not incredibly difficult, but making the right decisions is so hard." I think that is part of why they can make Modern controls work in this game, by making strategy a bigger part of the skill differential the game can offer players an execution aid and it doesn't make them good players. It's so easy to burn yourself out with assisted combos on modern controls.
If you need time or wanna watch the outros and stuff...just do? Like you can't rematch unless both players click yes so this is literally just something that is there if you want to or not. Making it faster is ONLY beneficial
I think that it is _sort of_ a valid argument that a player might be used to at least waiting through a loading screen, during which they could shake out their hands or otherwise calm their nerves or something. If I'm on a losing streak or something, I've used the brief loading screens to gather my thoughts and shake off my nerves a bit. Ultimately though, this will be a net positive. The option to instantly get back in the action outweighs that minor issue. Once the playerbase learns to take a moment _before_ hitting Rematch instead of after, I don't think we'll hear any complaints about this feature.

why do content creators insist on having the terrible cringy voice announcer pack on? it's extremely distracting and another dude spouting out full sentences while we're trying to listen to you is awful.
about instant rematch (or faster animation in general) This might be a bit of a controversial take, but I think that they do have some influence on the pacing of the game. For example, in guilty gear, when you get wall broken, you get this opportunity to reset mentally and prepare to get put back in neutral. If the moment doesn't last as long, you don't really get a chance to "take a breath". And I'm sure you'll agree that it feels very weird when playing on Castle of the Silver Feet (Ky's stage) that the wall break is almost instant. Anyway, although I sometime also wish end screens would pass faster, I definitely apreciate the "mental reset" moment they provide (:
Can't they just go the easy route and make it so each player has to hit ready to start up the rematch? That way if you're ready to hop in you're good and if you need to take a second blanka flip in celebration you can do that too. Maybe they already have that. I dunno...

About the fast rematch thing, yeah it's definitely pretty nice to be able to rematch instantly without having to go through intros and such. However, I do think that maybe a reason why there are people against such a change is because it presents a kind of slippery slope. Yes, we don't really need to watch fight intros/outros for the millionth time years into a game... but then again, we don't need a lot of stuff in a fighting game, do we? Do we need to see cool super cutscenes? Why not just cut to the damage dealt? Do we need to even have cool looking effects or graphics? None of that is "needed" in a fighting game. Remember MVC:I? Remember how the devs were like "Lmao you don't need X-Men characters because we have other characters that do the same thing gameplay-wise" and the FGC community hated that? What exactly was the cause of outrage of that? Now, I do have to reiterate, I do like the fast rematch thing, as I am a FG player myself. But I just do want to add some food for thought.
one thing that bothers me a bit about slippi, the melee online client, is the fact that the win screen was completely removed from the game. I don't know if there was a technical reason for it but it bothers me because you practically can't take a moment to catch your breath, when the match ends you get sent back to character select instantly, where if you don't immediately ready up your opponent will just think you're stalling or AFK, and there's no time limit on character select so people just leave if they get tired of waiting. Finding a moment to breathe in between games is crucial in a game as fast as melee, and I would gladly take a 3 second long winscreen in between games even if it means rematches are no longer instant.

@@oddyw3422 Agreed. I don't know where people get the idea that the person on the other side of the screen is raging over taking 10 seconds. But honestly, if someone gets that mad because you take the time to sip some water and crack your knuckles...then fuck 'em. Maybe they should remember how to play nice with others.
@@oddyw3422 yeah people should have to option to skip or not skip. If someone wants to wait till the clock runs out then I'll just decline the rematch myself. But for people who both wanna get back into the match. Why make them wait?
