  • Bought a Mig welder Power ship No name brand that advertised you could weld Aluminum delivered $325.00 or so. Only if you wanted to weld a inch and then have it jam up. I needed to add a spool gun. first you need to buy the switch and plug combo $75.00. , then wire it. and then buy a Spool Gun another $60.00 ebay another no name brand. Plus the gas bottle another $150.00 *** not in video but we have now welded the same size aluminum tank that the guy charged us 800 buck to weld. and welded it inside and out using only 1 role of wire. So i know we have already got our moneys worth. hope this helps the next guy out.

Good Morning! Great video! Just what I needed to convert my Eastwood MIG135L/1 which does not have the switch to swap power from internal drive motor to spool gun motor-ordered the kit and a spool gun. Thanks!!

YOU CAN ALSO LOWER THE WIRE SPEED ON THE MACHINE TO THE VERY MINIMUM, ON SOME MACHINES, IF YOU TURN THE WIRE FEED KNOB TO THE MINIMUM, RIGHT AT THE END IT FEELS LIKE A SWITCH AND THE MOTOR DON'T SPIN BUT THE GAS WORK FINE AND IS USED FOR PURGING THE GAS LINE.

How do you know the voltage of the motor of your welding machine and the motor of your spoolgun correspond?

Was you using argon for mig welding? If so that's not right. You should use a C25 mixture. That's why there was that black soot on the welds. Also it looked way too cold.

mig is inert gas aka 100% argon used for alu welding
      for steel u use c25 c18 watever u prefer
i assume he is using mixed gas cuz when welding alu on 100% argon i never seen this happen
and ur setting are very cold welding alu is abit of a learning cliff
