Right? I've had mine for about a year and the only time I have issues with them is accidentally switching modes when resting my head on my hand. Other than that, they have worked perfectly. Of course you can find better sounding earphones, or ones with better ANC (a feature I myself don't even really use tbh) but you would struggle to get such an overall good product for the price.

I have the nothing ear (1)s and i've had none of the problems that alex has talked about, but I have had completely different issues. For example, I am a tall guy and having them in my ear with my phone in my pocket causes the connection to become spotty and also the noise cancellation on them likes to randomly disable itself when there is a lull in the volume of the music. Other than those 2 glaring issues, I havent had too many bad experiences with them but I look forward to Nothing's changes in the future and hope that they can release something that is completely ironed out.
I mean, basically this. None of the problems Alex mentioned. Kinda sad to see him bash on ear(1) that much. They're pretty decent for the price, if they still sold them. Indeed mine also occasionally stop playing for a moment when my phone is in my pocket for some reason. I've noticed it most while walking, while just sitting in the bus it has no issues. It doesn't seem to lose connection, it just stops playing for 1-3 seconds. That doesn't take away from the fact that my first pair had a constant buzzing noise, which I promptly returned. The second pair has some leftover factory glue or something on the inside of the transparent case, I contacted Nothing support about this, with clear pictures, and they suggested wiping the case with alcohol... On the inside of the case... 🤦♂
What an interesting experience. My wife and I both have the ear 1. We have had zero issues whatsoever with in ear detection and the touch controls work perfectly everytime... We absolutely love them. But I've heard of two other reviewers that said their ear 1s barely work... Very interesting...
8:40 So the trick to adjust the volume on these is to support/push the weirdly curved side portion of the earbuds when they’re in your ears with your index finger, and then firmly drag up and down on the buds with your thumb-it’s a 2 finger operation; this basically always works for me. This is also how it works on the new AirPods Pro, except you support those with your thumb and not the index finger.
would love to see any earphones/headphones testing with a mic test. that's an important feature for anyone who takes calls or wants to use them out and about for discord/mettings/video calls as well.

@@ugur3527 See there is a dip in the second section and I want to know what specific instrument/vocals would be recessed. Having the numbers would aid that
@@Saitama07 that's around the pitch of high tenor or female vocal parts. It's a pretty commonly scooped area, as the highs and lows are the "exciting" bits in modern music. That said, it would be worse for anything where the voice really is the primary focus, like opera or vocal jazz. You'd lose some of the guitar's mid-range as well, and it'd be a more sparkly or biting sound, depending on the guitar's tone.
Also an Ear (1) owner from one of the first releases. I bought them for the looks, but found them to be better than anything else I had at the time so they became my daily drivers for a bit, and I still use them with my Switch (so they're actually in my ears right now). My case actually looks way more scratched than yours (although I didn't miss a peel). No other damage to them though. I don't hate the volume up and down touch controls, but they sit too far in your ears for the touch and hold functions which require a bit of force. My biggest issue though is that the ANC on the (1)'s was frankly unusable for long walks to either cut out or pass through traffic noises depending on my needs. Sad to hear that they still haven't really nailed that. I'm usually a podcast listener, so ANC is more important to me than sound quality.
I got the Nero TX in-ear headphones and they're great. The buds come in a box that charges them and also acts as a powerbank for your phone. The lid closes on the box with magnets built into the plastic so they will never come loose. And the sound is fantastic. Good mids and treble and a strong bass that somehow manages to not overshadow the rest of the sound.
Ive been using my ear 1 pretty much since launch. The only issue i had is connectivity which i supposed is a software bug, so i returned them and got some new ones. All the other points of criticism Alex pointed out i have not experienced and im extremely happy with them
I have personally been using the nothing ears 1’s in the smoked out black for over half a year and it has been flawless! Absolutely love them and I totally don’t understand any of the problems people have been dealing with. Maybe im just the exception but still. Seems uncalled for 🤷🏻♂️
I bought and have been daily driving the Ear(1)'s since watching James' ShortCircuit. For what it's worth, my anecdotal experience: -Had the same magnet break out in the same way and had to glue it in as well. -They also pause when they wiggle slightly out of my ear, especially in bed. -However, I never had latency issues and watched LTT videos with them on every lunch break at work. They're out of sync for the first couple seconds usually until it works perfectly. -The case is just big and takes some getting used to. -But I also bought and loved them since they were cheaper. I previously shelled out for AirPods pros, but those broke and loved the value of the Nothings. But at $150, I think I'll wait until mine outright fail before upgrading. bonus tech tip: These have 2 small magnets in the bottom of the case, so if u attach two button magnets to a surface, you can make a designated spot for your case to attach magnetically. I glued the magnets to my monitor base at work and slap on the case so it's not bulging in my pants pocket for 8 hours.
Dbrand is one of the few rare sponsor spots I don't skip, they are incredible! Also well done Alex on the unboxing, very tempting to get the Ear 2's. Hopefully they have a sale on them at some point.
Honestly i agree on the kinda random disconnects and increaed latency, but after using it for over a year with an average of 11 Hours usage per day, i couldn't be more happy with these buds. I luckely got them for 100 before the price went up. But i believe even for the increased price to 150, still a really good deal.
I will say, my Nothing Ear (1) have lasted me roughly the last year. My biggest problems were just the in-ear detection, latency, and horrible transparency mode. As well as an unfortunate circumstance where my right ear bud has a bad battery and since it was a gift with no receipt I can't have it replaced through Nothing directly. They tell me I have to have it replaced by the people I bought it from. Even after explaining it was a receipt-less gift, they still refused. Otherwise I honestly love them and am excited to get my Nothing Ear (2) in the next week or two.
If you're in the market for some budget buds with noise cancelling, i do reccomend the JBL live pro 2. Good sound (with heaps of customization in the app), low latency, good touch controls, great battery life, wireless charging, ANC, adjustable transparent mode, in ear detection works great. Basically all of the features of the nothing ear 2 but a bit more adjustability. And depending on where you live, cheaper than the ear 2. Had mine for over 6 months and havent had a problem.
I'm using ear (1) for 2 years, roughly, mind you folks. Mine fell from a train bunker to floor and collided with a metal still is fine. It took me almost 10 to 12 drops on a rough indian terrain to have a crack. But I agree about its glue getting loose. It has a balanced sound which can be better.
As someone who's bought Nothing Ear (2)s as his first wireless earbud and still waiting for them to ship, I love watching various takes on both the (1)s and (2)s, especially the more critical ones, glad I chose to pay the extra 40 euros to get the (2)s as they seem to be the wiser choice and should last at least for a few years if lucky. In the end the most iconic take of this whole video was at 21:18, with earbuds you should always go for a compromise, if you actually want really good quality audio and spend enough time at home or places that allow you to have proper headphones - do that and actually splurge there.
Fun fact ! Some signals like your car alarm do ampify by the liqiud in your head, you try it yourself! Next time you cant find your car in a carpark hold the key against your head and you dubbel the range off the signal
I'm going to keep it 100. I laughed uncontrollably at these sounds Alex kept doing. I don't ever want to hear a technical sound review again, just descriptions using these types of homemade onomatopoeias
I have used the Nothing Ear (1) daily for half a year. They are great value and I am very satisfied with them. Being my first pair of in-ear wireless headphones I can't compare them much with anything. But some of the problems Alex describes are not the same as those I have experienced. The touch controls on mine are very responsive actually mostly the volume up and down. The durability is good with only expected scratches on the acrylic and even sleeping with them now and then hasn't been a problem. The in-ear registration also hasn't been an issue with false triggers only the occasional delay when pausing after actually taking them out of the ear. Noise-canceling as mentioned in the original review is only ok - but better than Nothing ;). My most frustrating problem is when taking them out of the case the first earbud sometimes won't connect. Opening the case and waiting for the green indicator to turn off before taking the earbuds out of the case seems to help.
@@sidhantsood1171 the only issue I had with the ear 1 was it was too attractive people were randomly initiating conversations in the bus about what that thing is 😂
I’ve owned the ear 1’s since launch and I haven’t had any of the issues that they mentioned. The biggest thing is sometimes it takes a couple tries to connect them. They still are in great shape and work perfectly.
Actually, have 0 problem with latency, cause on RUclips during first couple of seconds it's hold a frame and magically synchronize. Volume adjustment also works every time, no problem at all. Much often had trouble with right earbud connection to the case - sometimes it just still connected to the phone and not charging, you have to wiggle a little bit before closing the case. And yeah, in-ear detection sometimes terrible - have to adjust right earbud to get noise cancelation back and continue listening. And the last major flaw - buggy connection to the phone. Sometimes it just goes back and forth between "connected" and "disconnected", you have to put them back and repeat the process slowly. But overall it is a great product for the price, have both colors for tablet and smartphone, and now I'm looking for new ones - seems so much better and able to replace both pairs)
If you take care of anything they'll work a long time. I was one of the first people to get the ear 1's on pre-order and they still look nearly new (apart from one tiny scratch on the back)
5:16 I've owned a pair of the Nothing Ear (1)s for a while now, there have been two separate occasions where I found that I had a peel on the case that I'd missed 🤣
18:27 this shouldn't be a problem at all, as all devices these days support A/V Sync for Bluetooth, in that the device compensates for the estimated latency by delaying the video play back by exactly that amount of time. At that point there shouldn't be any discernable lag between a and v. I don't notice the lag even on my $30 tws because of this. Maybe some compatibility issue with the Ear (2)s
This is why I have the Fiio UTW's and a good pair of IEM's. Audiophile quality, and if the adapters die no biggie I get a new one and keep the amazing IEM's.
The probelm with it being 150 dollars is that it shifts the price segment where its in. Even when its better in every way compared to the Nothing ear 1 it has to compete with the other value hard hitters in the 150$ price range which i think it is definitly not well matched up against
@@simonrockstream i dont know about looks since that is subjective but comfort there are dozens of pairs that are more comfortable if you look properly for them for a better price.
I've had the ear 1s for a year now. Except for the connectivity issues, I've never had any other problems that Alex mentions. maybe i got lucky? but i think the ear 1s are themselves a pretty solid product overall
As a user since launch, I've also have none of the issues that Alex mentioned, may be a bit product dependent, because my girlfriend bought herself a pair and had loads of issues that made her buy a pair of some other headphones but still got back to the ear(1), on her pair, the case had a lot of imperfections, such as specs of dust under the acrylic and stuff, the magnets a bit missaligned and stuff but mine were completely fine, a friend of mine also bought them about a week after me and had also no issues, still, for the money that they cost, you just cannot buy a better pair of in ear wireless headphones
1. Sponsorship spot win. 2. Anyone remember when Alex was first on camera VS now with the sound effects and the jokes? It's nice to see, really. Good job, dude.
I don’t know why but this transparent plastic looks cheap. Maybe if it was frosted/slightly charcoal or something it would look better but just looks cheap to me.
pretty good changes from +15db bass boost (+10 compare to your target curve which is harman OE), and the ear 2 is tuned to harman OE target. Seems like a really game changing interm of sound department. Great job to nothing
I've had my ear ones for about 1.5 years and they're still going strong. No latency, nothing broke, still live for 6-8h playtime and no issues with in ear detection. I'm super excited for the ear twos now but there is literally no reason to buy them if my ones are still perfect. Just weird why you had so many issues
Just had to repair my Notging ear ones after 1 year 3 months of use. The solder pads connect the battery in the case was not great, making the entire case not work. Re-soldering the pads for the battery fixed the problem. Good headphones for being a brands first product. Has had some issues, but still a fan.
Doesn't matter if i use low latency mode or no, but for me, RUclips videos always match the video with the audio by stopping the video for like a fraction of a second to remove any latency issues. And that happens in buds that don't even cost 50 dollars. So idk why you're experiencing latency in audio when using much more expensive buds
Thanks for the review! But I have have to put out, that my ear 1 are still working (almost) perfectly. Even the in ear recognizing is working good for me, same with the touch control. I use it all the time while riding the bike :)
I have been using nothing ear for about 18 months now and the only gripe I had was the in ear detection. I did not have the other issues discussed. I would most likely go for 2 again as its the best value for money in my country
3:18, I have had a pretty stellar run with my launch Ear (1)s. They sound noticeably better than my AirPods pro gen 1 and beats fit pro for on-the-go and gym use with iPhone and Android phones. Touch controls have never given me issues. I have always had fairly good connection. In-ear detection has been a bit hit and miss though.
Didn't realize my ear(1) had wireless charging either until this week when I was looking at the spec comparisons between the (1) and (2). Also didn't catch there was a peel on the bottom of the cases! Was an early adopter of the (1) and don't have any usage complaints other than in ear detection was 💩when running or other vigorous activities. Yes it can be turned off, but just relegated them to desk use to drown out the ambient chatter in my open floor plan office and ear detection was flawless. Would love to audition the ear(2), but will wait for them to eventually come down to $99 (missed the $99 launch day discount...)
Kind of a pity so many people have had issue with the ear 1s, I have them and after the first couple of firmware updates they worked flawlessly. They are not super great, but that was kind of the point, they are ok, relatively cheap and look cool. In ear detection is admittedly not good but it got better with updates
I will say that for transperency mode, I've used my raycons in situations where I really needed to be aware of my surroundings while still wanting to listen to music or podcasts, like at work. While I don't need to hear the HVAC, for example, I do need to hear the electric forklift, and I wouldn't put my trust in a software engineer to decide which sounds I'm allowed to hear. That's all to say that a good transparency/active hearing mode shouldn't filter out any sounds; it should be transparent.
I have been using the Nothing Ear 1's for 6 months now, and other than the case being roughed up, I have had no issues with it whatsoever. I am suprised to hear about the latency issue. No problems for me there either.
Except for the battery life on the Ear 2 (which I find horrible) I love everything else about these buds. Especially the design. On a side note: even though wired buds are always better in the sound department, I may be one of the very few people who would never again fool around with wired buds, : trying to untangle them., and always needing to get them out of the way. To me, wired buds are the roll up windows from the past.
heres my take on the short charging cable. we already have 1/1.5 meter cable from other devices and like me, I'm buying a 2 meter cable because I need long cable. and getting short cable for free is just nice for the niche needs. like pluging into laptops and powerbanks when travelling.

I mean how tall are you man just curious
Same issues as both of you guys, none of the issues that Alex mentioned.
@@arshadpakkali 6'4. I get no issues when my phone is in front of me in direct line of sight, just when it's in my pocket
What an interesting experience. My wife and I both have the ear 1. We have had zero issues whatsoever with in ear detection and the touch controls work perfectly everytime... We absolutely love them. But I've heard of two other reviewers that said their ear 1s barely work...
Very interesting...
same here! I love the ear 1s so far and if I see the ear2s with a discount probably will grab those.
Transparent tech needs to come back!
I need a sound board with all the sounds that Alex does in this video :D
hahahahaha!
8:40
So the trick to adjust the volume on these is to support/push the weirdly curved side portion of the earbuds when they’re in your ears with your index finger, and then firmly drag up and down on the buds with your thumb-it’s a 2 finger operation; this basically always works for me. This is also how it works on the new AirPods Pro, except you support those with your thumb and not the index finger.
would love to see any earphones/headphones testing with a mic test. that's an important feature for anyone who takes calls or wants to use them out and about for discord/mettings/video calls as well.
A suggestion for the frequency graphs, give/show the frequencies on the x axis. The graph had no numbers 15:39
It's pretty much always a logarithmic 20-20k Hz
Sections are separated with solid white lines.
First section: 20 Hz to 100 Hz with 10 Hz increases
Second section: 100 Hz to 1k Hz with 100 Hz increases
Third section: 1k Hz to 10k Hz with 1k Hz increases
Fourth section: 10k Hz to 20k Hz with 1k Hz increases
@@ugur3527 See there is a dip in the second section and I want to know what specific instrument/vocals would be recessed. Having the numbers would aid that
@@Saitama07 you can calculate it. 400 Hz to 800 Hz.
0:14 Ah yes, the OnePlus Ear(2), what a nice pair of earbuds.
Yeah "ONEPLUS"
Super excited for the OnePlus Ear (2) 0:15
I thought I was the only one to notice that 😂😂
That sponsorship was fantastic
Ive been using my ear 1 pretty much since launch. The only issue i had is connectivity which i supposed is a software bug, so i returned them and got some new ones. All the other points of criticism Alex pointed out i have not experienced and im extremely happy with them
BTW it was written "Oneplus" Ear (2) instead of Nothing Ear (2)
Time stamp 17 seconds
I love how Dbrand spends their time and money coming up with new ways to annoy Linus! 🤣
I have personally been using the nothing ears 1’s in the smoked out black for over half a year and it has been flawless!
Absolutely love them and I totally don’t understand any of the problems people have been dealing with.
Maybe im just the exception but still. Seems uncalled for 🤷🏻♂️
That DBrand ad... I love those guys. Such a great sense of humor... and love that Linus plays along and has fun with it, too. Great stuff.
I bought and have been daily driving the Ear(1)'s since watching James' ShortCircuit. For what it's worth, my anecdotal experience:
-Had the same magnet break out in the same way and had to glue it in as well.
I have Nothing Ear 1´s for like a year and they are working well and i got no problems with them!
Thank you for the review of the second ones!
Wow that is shit customer service…they should at least let you send it in for assessment
Man I love dbrand upping their stakes each time.
0:15 omg the upper third says OnePlus instead of Nothing, I smell a very mad CEO in LTT's email
Super cool to have the lab results of the ANC performance!
Well, the main channel for a: Short Circuit!
..
I'll see myself out
0:15 I just wanted to point out a mistake, in the top left it says "One Plus" as the maker which is, clearly, incorrect
I rate this video 8/10. Great sound effects. Can’t wait for the sequel
0:15 Why is it OnePlus...
Fun fact ! Some signals like your car alarm do ampify by the liqiud in your head, you try it yourself! Next time you cant find your car in a carpark hold the key against your head and you dubbel the range off the signal
I don't particularly feel like I need a skin, but these sponsor spots make me want to reward them with a purchase
I'm going to keep it 100. I laughed uncontrollably at these sounds Alex kept doing. I don't ever want to hear a technical sound review again, just descriptions using these types of homemade onomatopoeias
normaly i skip ads, but this one can't be skipped, good one dbrand, lol
Nothing is perfect, and Nothing isn't perfect.
Alex mentioning Drum & Bass cleared all my doubts. He is indeed a man of culture.
I've never had these issues with the ear 1 tbh... and I am sure that the quality checks weren't of a very high quality, maybe a production issue tbh
I just made the same comment 🙂
They also changed to a different producer to manufacture the ear 2s. Carl said it on the nothing channel on the launch of the ear 2s.
@@sidhantsood1171 :)
@@sidhantsood1171 the only issue I had with the ear 1 was it was too attractive people were randomly initiating conversations in the bus about what that thing is 😂
0:16 "OnePlus" ear(2) lol
The Flex Seal hat lol
I’ve owned the ear 1’s since launch and I haven’t had any of the issues that they mentioned. The biggest thing is sometimes it takes a couple tries to connect them. They still are in great shape and work perfectly.
dbrand has won me over as a customer specifically because of ad spots like this
Actually, have 0 problem with latency, cause on RUclips during first couple of seconds it's hold a frame and magically synchronize.
I was one of the first people to get the ear 1's on pre-order and they still look nearly new (apart from one tiny scratch on the back)
Ok
@@cloudededen5819 ok
5:16 I've owned a pair of the Nothing Ear (1)s for a while now, there have been two separate occasions where I found that I had a peel on the case that I'd missed 🤣
I'm convinced DBrand doesn't even care about selling skins. It's owned by a rich guy who just wanted an excuse to mess with Linus.
My Ear(1)s have exactly the same problems (broken earphone case, bad ear detection, etc)
Nice to know I wasn't the only one to have that experience.
UTWs* IEMs* …apostrophes are for contractions and possession
The probelm with it being 150 dollars is that it shifts the price segment where its in.
Even when its better in every way compared to the Nothing ear 1 it has to compete with the other value hard hitters in the 150$ price range which i think it is definitly not well matched up against
These are the only ones that actually looks good and are comfortable.
$50 seems like a fair price increase for those improvements. I'm getting them!
I'm giving a like just because of the billboard😂
Part of me was hoping that the Nothing text on the side could actually change, oh well.
0:15 Oneplus Ear (2).... I see what you did there editor xd
I have nothing ear 1, but don't have most of the problems stated. It is surprisingly good for me. Maybe it's because of the QC issues
9:44 oh god that's Enna Alouette signature sound
He was very very hard with the ear 1, for they are almost perfect, the only problem I had was with waking up/going to sleep in the case sometimes.
Thanks for the review! But I have have to put out, that my ear 1 are still working (almost) perfectly. Even the in ear recognizing is working good for me, same with the touch control. I use it all the time while riding the bike :)
I love the look of these, but I wish they'd make a non-silicone tip version, like Airpods.
I have been using nothing ear for about 18 months now and the only gripe I had was the in ear detection. I did not have the other issues discussed. I would most likely go for 2 again as its the best value for money in my country
Loving the sponsor spot. Using the dbrand grip case for 2 years now and its holding up fantastic!
I have the nothing ear (1) and I have not had a single problem like you did 😂
Didn't realize my ear(1) had wireless charging either until this week when I was looking at the spec comparisons between the (1) and (2).
I need more IEM review like Tangzu, Moondrop, Salnotes, NiceHCK, etc etc, especially comparing expensive and the budget one.
I have nothing ear 1 since release, i droped them realy hard on floor the case cover is chipped, but still works fine.
0:15 "OnePlus Ear 2"
lmfao
The charging case looks like packaging you'd throw away and think, "That was a waste of plastic."
I have been using the Nothing Ear 1's for 6 months now, and other than the case being roughed up, I have had no issues with it whatsoever. I am suprised to hear about the latency issue. No problems for me there either.
I would love to see D-brand send a meter stick wrapped. That would be amazing.
Liked for that dbrand sponser spot. And of course Alex’s great hosting skills
To me, wired buds are the roll up windows from the past.
heres my take on the short charging cable. we already have 1/1.5 meter cable from other devices and like me, I'm buying a 2 meter cable because I need long cable. and getting short cable for free is just nice for the niche needs. like pluging into laptops and powerbanks when travelling.
wow, i never had any of these problems with my ear 1! i've dropped it multiple times and haven't damaged it at all.
This video made me realise I hadn't removed the peels from my ear(1)s - case looks brand new again, thanks Alex!
