    Therapeutic. I love this sort of artful expressive playing, underrated component of the kit.

    The drumming is great but the way she speaks is fantastic, every word has a begining and end and all the letters in the word are clear and crisp, just lovely to listen to.

    I just don't understand the dislikes, what four? this is just about bringing realy artistic colours like nature and emotions in to drums and music wich I think is fantastic! Awsome job!!!

  • @5hinobiGaijin

    This is a fine example of the difference between applying artistry and feel vs. overemphasizing chops. I make the mistake sometimes of wanting to wow people with complexity ... too much, too loud, too frequently. The more you say, the less it is heard sometimes- no matter how advanced the technique or theory. Now go listen to Coltrane's "Ballads" album where he plays just the melody for every song. Its the dynamics that drive enjoyable music.

    Thanks for sharing your talent with us. As drummers we get caught up on what thing "ought" to sound like for a particular type of music. Whether is a certain snare sound or cymbal sound. We tend to limit ourselves tremendously.

    • @spark_6710
      @spark_6710 4 года назад

      That's the same as any instruments ,or even vocals ! But that applies on covers & only if you just tend or intend to COPY ! If you are real good ,then you'll re arrange it well & make it your own ,ther's no limitations ! Gotta do tasefully ,equally good as the originals ,or better ! Sometimes totally different vibes / versions & approaches ! Try to come out of the molds & be more CREATIVE !💜💜💜🥁🎵🎤🎶🐉💞

    The idea of getting colors out of cymbals (and the kit in general) is old, going AFAIK back to bebop in the 50s. I came here looking for a reference to some of the classic drummers back then who used to talk about this kind of approach; how specific sounds translated into certain colors for them. Sadly, I didn't find it here, and would love a few suggestions/references if anybody knows a few - but I definitely stayed and watched the whole video. I love Sci's approach, and this ended up being more inspirational than I thought it would. Thanks Jazz Academy!
