I can tell you that it is much harder to find new employment when you're 50 plus. I was laid off and out of work for almost 2 years. The only thing that helped me and my family stay afloat was I had a large emergency fund ($200K) saved up. I eventually got another job and everything is back to normal.

I got layed off in February and still struggling to find something. My last job was as a compliance analyst and I also have my degree in IT. I literally just get rejection letters every time. I even put in for entry level and still rejected. It doesnt make sense to me. I literally served in the military, graduated, did everything right in life and I am still struggling. They literally dont care about people at all.

I'm in IT as well. After the last interview I went through and didn't get the job, I dug around and found somebody on the inside via a friend of a friend. He said, "The hiring manager already knew who they were going to hire before the interview process, but they interviewed several other candidates just to meet due diligence requirements". Agreed, really they just use people like pawns.
Some people are already there living pay check to pay check. I just had to talk to HR about dropping my 401k and I insurance. She wouldn't let me drop the Insurance...

I’m sorry, this may be extreme but, it should be illegal for a company to not disclose a massive layoff. These companies are damaging so many peoples lives and they don’t even have to mention until it’s the day that the layoffs are actually happening. If these companies expect people to always give them a two week notice before leaving, then they should give employees a heads up before they do a massive fucking layoff!
Actually in the US such disclosures are required (depending on number of employees being laid off at a time) via the WARN as one of the clips mentioned. I found out about it after my last employer went through layoffs. You can typically check via a Google search, also Glassdoor also has useful intel.
If you owned a company and had to lay off half the staff, would you give them two weeks notice? All work will stop, the about to be laid off employees will poison the remaining employees, and you'll end up having to shut down the business. Welcome to adulthood.

A job does not define you! I love that. People judge me for working in the service industry but I'm the one with the cash and all the free time. I paid off my car and bachelor's waiting tables. I make more money than if I worked in my actual field. It does get to me sometimes but I continue to ignore what people think of me. I may be able to retire soon before 45 or open up my business at least.

I got out of the system within 2 years of racist corporate america and micro aggressions. I had my reason to become an entrepreneur 13 years ago. Best decision, tripled my salary for 14 years. A good dose of racism made black women the largest group fo entrepreneurs, and thank heaven for it. Much better than being a sheep lead to the slaughter.

Since investment firms own 20% of single family homes in the US there aren’t as many homes w units actually owned by individuals. Housing prices and limited supply compounded w lenders tightening up on approvals means even less are able to purchase. Top it off with inflation possibly leading to hyperinflation, lower wages and millions of unskilled foreign dependents flooding in uncontrolled and unvetted. Hard times knocking on our front door. You know what’s really annoying about being laid off or losing your job, is that todays job market has made the job hunting/job applying process so f’ing difficult, just over complicating things for no reason even for sh*tty pay entry level jobs so while you may lose out on staying on and being loyal to a job instead of moving around to different ones, the job process just makes me wanna find a good job and stick with it til a retire even if I lose out cause I don’t have the patience for job hoping in todays job market it just demands too much of you and it ain’t worth it unless it pays really really well

We got laid off 5 mouths later For the next 4 years, I did part time/contract work and didn't accept similar full time jobs like the one I was laid off from due poor pay offers . I eventually got a job with a new company that said they treat employees great and care about each and every one of them. I saw signs that they didn't and recognize that they like to intimidate and scare employees. The employees allowed it because they were brainwashed to believe that they were so lucky to be an employee at the company. Then managers attempted to intimidate me and lie on me. I documented it all and filed lawsuit. The evidence I had scared them and they went a round about way to ask me to drop lawsuit and they would in return drop the false infraction from my file. NOPE! I had already documented the lies. Settled out of court. None of these corporations care about you. You're just a number and most pay you crumbs while management cronies at the top, who go to meetings all day, give themselves raises under the guise that they worked harder than you and deserve a raise. My suggestion to people. Never work for a company that doesn't pay you enough to survive, doesn't have set pay increases for the position and doesn't offer a great retirement(401 k). If you're laid off you want to walk away with enough earnings and retirement to feel as though you didn't waste your time.
Then there are applications that require drawn out assessments wasting a lot of people's time just for them to finish it and get an automated rejection message.
I'm living on prayers and gigwork until i snag a remote job since brick and mortor companies seem to never hear back from them. Applied for over 100 brick and mortor jobs and almost 500 remote jobs. I just pop an ashawange, take a deep breath and keep hustling. I just have myself at this point and im grateful that i dont have kids dealing with shit. Sucks that my husband showed his AZZ last year so that's less income to survive off of but I'm learning that I'm my own hero and to always have some sort of income coming in and how to make 💰 without a regular job. Try not to 😢 during the resignation meeting and don't give these companies that kind of power over you.
I was fired in 2020. Still unemployed. Have an interview this week. I started consulting and did well, but kept applying. Got long Covid and haven’t worked in 18 months looking for the right place. Job applications ask if you have been fired 😮. So that can contribute to not being hired. Find a job before you get laid off. I could have but let loyalty catch me off guard. Never be loyal to a company or in my case a boss (she was let go as well).

In 2008 my manager and supervisor were laid off. I was called into the general managers office. I mentally prepared for the layoff. He told me not to worry and that he would be fired before me. He told me workers who generate money don't get fired.....its always middle management and pencil pushers. Lesson learned.
The last lady without experience… I got a role once from volunteering at a company.. while the company I was volunteering at didn’t hire me a competitor did. I was able to go to the interview with good work experience and good professional references of people who worked with me and wanted me to succeed.
How do you survive on volunteer work? You can't. Heck, people are struggling to survive on 75,000 a year, especially if you have student loan debt you have to pay back. Only some colleges require or push students to do internships while in school. Of which that is still exploitive. One, if colleges require it, you are paying to work for free. Then, if colleges just push it, you are working in your free time while at school for free. She has a right to cry.

Don't waste time applying for jobs. Work at expanding your contacts list as much as possible. The only way to avoid this nonsense is to get a referral from one of your contacts. The more people you know, the better. I wish the best of luck to all job seekers.
This really scares me tbh. I was job hunting for months until I was able to get the job I'm currently at. It's been 3 months now and I think I'm doing a great job so far but I still get anxious about potentially getting fired out of the blue given the recession and the fact that where I work is a small company with just a few employees and they have been really pushing to get more and more business coming in and that responsability falls on our team so it is very stressful sometimes. I don't want to be out of a job and then have to job hunt again and send resume after resume and then get an interview and never heard back.....it's brutal tbh. My sister is currently unemployed and has been looking for a job since last year and no luck, I feel so bad for her because it is getting to her it feels personal getting rejected tbh even if it shouldn't be....I hope we can all survive these challenging times!
I hope so too especially considering how often so many companies rely on an ATS to screen candidates yet reject quality talent if they have one or two flaws on their resume. If someone is dedicated to do better and be better we all can be unicorn's that companies look for but from how I see it many are looking for people who are smart enough to work the job with little to no training required but not smart enough to question policy.
If possible try and start your own thing on the side. I started my own side hustle and now have 50+ paying clients and my own website. I was working full time when I started it. Got laid off recently but money keeps flowing in because of my clients so I can pay my rent for the rest of the year upfront and go on holiday with my fiance. If a job is your only source of income you will forever be on edge because these employers will get rid of you at a moments notice if they need to save their bottom line. I was the highest performing member at my company for 2.5 years and was let go. Thank God I started my own thing.
Go to any commercial fishing port. You can get a job. You’ll have to actually work. But the pay is good. Alaska and Maine are some of the easiest places to find a job on a boat.
I helped my brother in law do just that. He was down on his luck, and having a hard time, going couch to couch. I said look, you're young, single and have no obligations, get on a boat, you'll work 16+ hours a day, and it's gonna suck sometimes, but it's work and a place to stay. He's been killing it ever since. He pulled himself up by his bootstraps, and I'm proud of that kid

I was once called into a meeting with HR, and I thought it was to be laid off. I show up with pad and pen to take notes. I wanted to make sure they offered a decent parting package after the many years I had been there. As it turns out, it was not a layoff…but a position change. I told them I was prepared for a layoff, and their mouths practically dropped at how cavalier I was. Well, y’all can literally fire me at any point. I’m not dumb and you won’t get an emotional rise out of me so…🤷🏽♀️.

I built an entire infrastructure for a job. They gave me no resources, they didn’t give me even the support that I asked, for if that would cost no money for the rest of the team that I was in charge of, and when I feel short of their “expectations“, they gave the position that I have been asking for for months, and the structure and support that I’ve been asking for for months to a person who worked under me. And then they laid me off by maintaining and keeping all of the infrastructure that I built and all the visuals that I built for their company. And I expected this because you can feel it you can sense it. When they slowly shut you out of meetings, and slowly decrease your workload and everything else you know. What frustrates me more is that companies just flip it we do this to a lot of employees. They will utilize you as a resource and then when they feel they can get it cheaper. They will take what you have built and use it for somebody else. The company that I did that for I hope they fail badly and terrible and I’ll smile.
That first lady needs to find a new career. HR is easily the most worthless role in the corporate world and a lot of companies are finally figuring that out. They aren't necessary to protect the company the way people thought they were back in the early 2000s and 2010s. Most of them are just seat fillers that companies are nixing wholesale. There's a reason she can't find a job in HR in the 2020s. It's a dying career path.
You are correct! Where I live they also do accounting to compensate the lack of importance in HR. Knowing I'm in a country with a rare language I had to dxplain to the manager how to deal with my retirement fund... and they are often more a nuisance than helping

I’ve been having this same issue. I quit my job bc they cut my pay drastically and drove an hour there and back per day. Gas is ridiculous! I was struggling at $19 and cut me down to $16. Before that I lost a 7 year job during Covid bc we weren’t making any money during lockdowns. I loved that job and would have retired with them. Idk what yo do or think anymore. This is ridiculous for us all

HR departments are just made out of people who are given specific tasks and if barrier to employment is one of them then that’s just what they have to do. It’s always going to be someone’s job to be the bad guy. Like people who have to deny people’s medical insurance claims.

Her dad was right. Companies are only giving their wishlist, you learn most things on the job anyway. Tailor your resume as best you can and apply for the job!

@@tameone even if she is rejected, often times a real HR contact (not an automated machine) would send the rejection communication. Follow up thanking them and let them know that if there are any other roles that they think you’d be a better fit for, please let you know so you can forward your resume to that department. Depending on where you are located, go into the office with your resume and ask to speak with the HR coordinator for the job about your interest in the role. Be prepared with a strong elevator pitch about your qualifications, etc. Set yourself a part and be relentless! Don’t just be an random resume in the ATS, most resumes don’t make it through that way.
I started looking for a corporate job end of last year and in one month I found one making 20% more than I did previously. It is not impossible, but you have to know how to market yourself and not get so easily discouraged.

Never have been able to move out of my parents at 24. I have no hope for the future. I have been rejected from countless call centers and restaurants even with 7 years of restaurant experience.

And they are actually being fair. Most people look down on apprenticeships but they get jobs fast because the apprenticeship is considered work experience. That's how they are entry level with years of experience. For example, I have 3 years of apprenticeship program to do, at the end I'll be entry level with 3 years of experience.
Technology is replacing HR workers and other paper pushers. I work in IT, I have no issues finding work. We recently replaced a good portion of our admin staff with automation and launched a new HR tool that inputs employee data by syncing with our other systems, no actual human is needed for that task now. I'm 41, worked full time while going to school in early 2000s, and earned two CS degrees that I paid for myself with no financial aid/support 💪

I now work full time again and will finish up a substance abuse counselor certificate. I have a bachelor's in health care IT and AA in Biological Sciences. It's tiring at times but if you want something, you'll make it happen.
Well if you guys say you apply to many jobs but nobody is hiring that’s probably because you guys are not applying as candy factory workers or factory workers where you take things out of the conveyor belt, stand and work for this amount of hours and do overtime. You guys are probably not applying to be dishwashers too. That’s why it is diffficult to get a job. When I was unemployed, I applied for cashier jobs and tougher jobs nobody wants. I moved at the end of November 2022 and it took me a few weeks to get a job. However I had been looking for a job for at least 6 months before I moved. Companies are getting ready for a crash and are laying off people. I had 4 different Companies call back all their staff knowing that the younger group would rather quit than go back in the office. They love you because they don't have to pay unemployment . Nobody will be hiring unless it's a necessity. I was laid off from my first 100k job last year when i was 27. I was given a 2 month severance. I didnt want to settle and i had enough savings to go for a while. Thankfully only 1 month out of pocket and got my current role. Its amazing! Went up to $115k, great benefits, fully remote, and hardly do 30hrs/week. If you're in a decent position when laid off, look for a better role in a set amount of time you give yourself before you have to settle.

I know this all too well. I got caught in the rapture in 2009 and couldn’t find a job until 2010. A few employers later the pandemic happens and I got furloughed to never get reinstated. I saw an old co worker at a fast food restaurant and they told me they called up a few months ago to see what was going on with their old condition and the employer told them they could have came back sooner if they would have called months ago. I couldn’t believe they told her that. That pissed me off. Last time we spoke they said they would call everyone back if they needed them back. 🤬🤬🤬

There is this disconnect with young people these days who think their social media is separate to their professional life……it’s not. I personally have had to terminate people because of information they posted on their social media…..
Class of 2022 graduate here - graduated with 3 internships, 3.95 GPA, and never been unemployed in my life until now. Applied to over 1,700 jobs. I am demoralized. Never have been able to move out of my parents at 24. I have no hope for the future. I have been rejected from countless call centers and restaurants even with 7 years of restaurant experience.
HR and other back office work is, or will be, replaced by AI. HR and other cost center departments have been growing like crazy in corporations; every year there are compliance training requirements that take the revenue generating employees away from their tasks, negatively impacting productivity. HR, irrespective of the training and information they provide, works for the company, in the best interest of the company, not the employee. If you go to HR with a complaint, you will likely see your future options at the company limited. HR is not your friend. If you get laid off from a corporation, you will be dealing with HR. Do not trust them or believe they are your friend. When I hear about HR layoffs, I'm not disappointed. I think maybe some revenue generating workers will be spared, yet companies don't scale back their HR initiatives. It's even worse with DIE workers, bureaucracies and lack of focus on merit. I've worked in AI for decades, and to those AI workers who are working on AI HR projects, I salute you and thank you.

Nothing will be better until you change or learn different professions. The problem is most of the people stick with on profession the entire life. So more skills more good jobs. Nothing will happen if you keep complaining and not move towards solutions.

After busting my ass trying to find a job I finally l got hired cleaning my local food lion for 12.50 an hour part time. I have over twelve years experience with Security, 22 years customer service, and a few years as a supervisor at various jobs. I have never felt so hopeless. I am also a diabetic so most companies avoid people with disabilities. I can only hope the disability insurance comes through.

The most valuable advice I was ever given was NEVER see your co workers as family and never expect your supervisors to care for you like a parent or mentor or older sibling. Don’t even try to be good friends with them. Be friendly but always remember work is work and not family or home. They can and will replace you

I can tell you that it is much harder to find new employment when you're 50 plus. I was laid off and out of work for almost 2 years. The only thing that helped me and my family stay afloat was I had a large emergency fund ($200K) saved up. I eventually got another job and everything is back to normal.
Been out of work 2 yrs and 2 months.... How do I explain the gap? It's not like I've been lazy, but my resume looks empty. Not to mention I have another year long gap because I quit a toxic job right before the pandemic for my health... and then couldn't find anything.

I got layed off in February and still struggling to find something. My last job was as a compliance analyst and I also have my degree in IT. I literally just get rejection letters every time. I even put in for entry level and still rejected. It doesnt make sense to me. I literally served in the military, graduated, did everything right in life and I am still struggling. I'm in IT as well. After the last interview I went through and didn't get the job, I dug around and found somebody on the inside via a friend of a friend. He said, "The hiring manager already knew who they were going to hire before the interview process, but they interviewed several other candidates just to meet due diligence requirements". Agreed, really they just use people like pawns.

I’m sorry, this may be extreme but, it should be illegal for a company to not disclose a massive layoff. These companies are damaging so many peoples lives and they don’t even have to mention until it’s the day that the layoffs are actually happening. If these companies expect people to always give them a two week notice before leaving, then they should give employees a heads up before they do a massive fucking layoff!

Actually in the US such disclosures are required (depending on number of employees being laid off at a time) via the WARN as one of the clips mentioned. I found out about it after my last employer went through layoffs. You can typically check via a Google search, also Glassdoor also has useful intel.
They don't want people to leave until they're done with them, if they tell you it's coming you'll find something else and jump ship ASAP

A job does not define you! I love that. People judge me for working in the service industry but I'm the one with the cash and all the free time. I paid off my car and bachelor's waiting tables. I make more money than if I worked in my actual field. It does get to me sometimes but I continue to ignore what people think of me. I may be able to retire soon before 45 or open up my business at least.

Its pretty crazy I do Heating and Air and for the first time I have been laid off after a slow summer, I have found a new job at a large company but, from what old timers tell me is that a slow summer in the desert means a recession is on the horizon and people are forgoing repairs or using window units
Since investment firms own 20% of single family homes in the US there aren’t as many homes w units actually owned by individuals. Housing prices and limited supply compounded w lenders tightening up on approvals means even less are able to purchase. Top it off with inflation possibly leading to hyperinflation, lower wages and millions of unskilled foreign dependents flooding in uncontrolled and unvetted. Hard times knocking on our front door. You know what’s really annoying about being laid off or losing your job, is that todays job market has made the job hunting/job applying process so f’ing difficult, just over complicating things for no reason even for sh*tty pay entry level jobs so while you may lose out on staying on and being loyal to a job instead of moving around to different ones, the job process just makes me wanna find a good job and stick with it til a retire even if I lose out cause I don’t have the patience for job hoping in todays job market it just demands too much of you and it ain’t worth it unless it pays really really well

For the next 4 years, I did part time/contract work and didn't accept similar full time jobs like the one I was laid off from due poor pay offers .
I eventually got a job with a new company that said they treat employees great and care about each and every one of them. I saw signs that they didn't and recognize that they like to intimidate and scare employees. The employees allowed it because they were brainwashed to believe that they were so lucky to be an employee at the company. Then managers attempted to intimidate me and lie on me. I documented it all and filed lawsuit. The evidence I had scared them and they went a round about way to ask me to drop lawsuit and they would in return drop the false infraction from my file. NOPE! I had already documented the lies. Settled out of court.
None of these corporations care about you. You're just a number and most pay you crumbs while management cronies at the top, who go to meetings all day, give themselves raises under the guise that they worked harder than you and deserve a raise.
My suggestion to people. Never work for a company that doesn't pay you enough to survive, doesn't have set pay increases for the position and doesn't offer a great retirement(401 k). If you're laid off you want to walk away with enough earnings and retirement to feel as though you didn't waste your time.
Then there are applications that require drawn out assessments wasting a lot of people's time just for them to finish it and get an automated rejection message.
That’s why they make it grueling and complicated - so you don’t think about leaving. It’s like every company is agreeing in doing this in secret.

I was fired in 2020. Still unemployed. Have an interview this week. I started consulting and did well, but kept applying. Got long Covid and haven’t worked in 18 months looking for the right place. Job applications ask if you have been fired 😮. So that can contribute to not being hired. Find a job before you get laid off. I could have but let loyalty catch me off guard. Never be loyal to a company or in my case a boss (she was let go as well).

In 2008 my manager and supervisor were laid off. I was called into the general managers office. I mentally prepared for the layoff. He told me not to worry and that he would be fired before me. He told me workers who generate money don't get fired.....its always middle management and pencil pushers. Lesson learned.

The last lady without experience… I got a role once from volunteering at a company.. while the company I was volunteering at didn’t hire me a competitor did. I was able to go to the interview with good work experience and good professional references of people who worked with me and wanted me to succeed.
How do you survive on volunteer work? You can't. Heck, people are struggling to survive on 75,000 a year, especially if you have student loan debt you have to pay back. Only some colleges require or push students to do internships while in school. Of which that is still exploitive. One, if colleges require it, you are paying to work for free. Then, if colleges just push it, you are working in your free time while at school for free. She has a right to cry.

Hence, I stated," How do you survive on volunteer work? You can't." I'm in my field, so I don't need the advice. And yes, I volunteered in high school and college to make those connections, but there were some tough college times. She is 2 years out. Most times, when you go into a field away from your area, it also weakens you in your desired area for a job prospect. I stand by what I said; she has a right to cry.

This really scares me tbh. I was job hunting for months until I was able to get the job I'm currently at. It's been 3 months now and I think I'm doing a great job so far but I still get anxious about potentially getting fired out of the blue given the recession and the fact that where I work is a small company with just a few employees and they have been really pushing to get more and more business coming in and that responsability falls on our team so it is very stressful sometimes. I don't want to be out of a job and then have to job hunt again and send resume after resume and then get an interview and never heard back.....it's brutal tbh. My sister is currently unemployed and has been looking for a job since last year and no luck, I feel so bad for her because it is getting to her it feels personal getting rejected tbh even if it shouldn't be....I hope we can all survive these challenging times!
I hope so too especially considering how often so many companies rely on an ATS to screen candidates yet reject quality talent if they have one or two flaws on their resume. If someone is dedicated to do better and be better we all can be unicorn's that companies look for but from how I see it many are looking for people who are smart enough to work the job with little to no training required but not smart enough to question policy.
If possible try and start your own thing on the side. I started my own side hustle and now have 50+ paying clients and my own website. I was working full time when I started it. Got laid off recently but money keeps flowing in because of my clients so I can pay my rent for the rest of the year upfront and go on holiday with my fiance. If a job is your only source of income you will forever be on edge because these employers will get rid of you at a moments notice if they need to save their bottom line. I was the highest performing member at my company for 2.5 years and was let go. Thank God I started my own thing.

I helped my brother in law do just that. He was down on his luck, and having a hard time, going couch to couch. I said look, you're young, single and have no obligations, get on a boat, you'll work 16+ hours a day, and it's gonna suck sometimes, but it's work and a place to stay. He's been killing it ever since. He pulled himself up by his bootstraps, and I'm proud of that kid

I was once called into a meeting with HR, and I thought it was to be laid off. I show up with pad and pen to take notes. I wanted to make sure they offered a decent parting package after the many years I had been there. As it turns out, it was not a layoff…but a position change. I told them I was prepared for a layoff, and their mouths practically dropped at how cavalier I was. Well, y’all can literally fire me at any point. I’m not dumb and you won’t get an emotional rise out of me so…🤷🏽♀️.

I built an entire infrastructure for a job. They gave me no resources, they didn’t give me even the support that I asked, for if that would cost no money for the rest of the team that I was in charge of, and when I feel short of their “expectations“, they gave the position that I have been asking for for months, and the structure and support that I’ve been asking for for months to a person who worked under me. And then they laid me off by maintaining and keeping all of the infrastructure that I built and all the visuals that I built for their company. And I expected this because you can feel it you can sense it. When they slowly shut you out of meetings, and slowly decrease your workload and everything else you know. What frustrates me more is that companies just flip it we do this to a lot of employees. They will utilize you as a resource and then when they feel they can get it cheaper. They will take what you have built and use it for somebody else. The company that I did that for I hope they fail badly and terrible and I’ll smile.
That first lady needs to find a new career. HR is easily the most worthless role in the corporate world and a lot of companies are finally figuring that out. They aren't necessary to protect the company the way people thought they were back in the early 2000s and 2010s. Most of them are just seat fillers that companies are nixing wholesale. There's a reason she can't find a job in HR in the 2020s. It's a dying career path.

I’ve been having this same issue. I quit my job bc they cut my pay drastically and drove an hour there and back per day. Gas is ridiculous! I was struggling at $19 and cut me down to $16. Before that I lost a 7 year job during Covid bc we weren’t making any money during lockdowns. I loved that job and would have retired with them. Idk what yo do or think anymore. This is ridiculous for us all

HR departments are just made out of people who are given specific tasks and if barrier to employment is one of them then that’s just what they have to do. It’s always going to be someone’s job to be the bad guy. Like people who have to deny people’s medical insurance claims.

her dad is right and wrong, yeah she can apply but its pretty much what she said, she will be rejected. I apply for jobs where I match all of their wishlist and the rejection letter still comes.
@@tameone even if she is rejected, often times a real HR contact (not an automated machine) would send the rejection communication. Follow up thanking them and let them know that if there are any other roles that they think you’d be a better fit for, please let you know so you can forward your resume to that department.
Depending on where you are located, go into the office with your resume and ask to speak with the HR coordinator for the job about your interest in the role. Be prepared with a strong elevator pitch about your qualifications, etc. Set yourself a part and be relentless! Don’t just be an random resume in the ATS, most resumes don’t make it through that way.
I started looking for a corporate job end of last year and in one month I found one making 20% more than I did previously. It is not impossible, but you have to know how to market yourself and not get so easily discouraged.

Looking at the entry level positions, most require 2 years of experience or certifications.
And they are actually being fair. Most people look down on apprenticeships but they get jobs fast because the apprenticeship is considered work experience. That's how they are entry level with years of experience. For example, I have 3 years of apprenticeship program to do, at the end I'll be entry level with 3 years of experience.
Technology is replacing HR workers and other paper pushers. I work in IT, I have no issues finding work. We recently replaced a good portion of our admin staff with automation and launched a new HR tool that inputs employee data by syncing with our other systems, no actual human is needed for that task now. I'm 41, worked full time while going to school in early 2000s, and earned two CS degrees that I paid for myself with no financial aid/support 💪
The human in Human Resources still has to listen to associates complain about IT.

@lainie2693I'm sorry to say that sounds like putting excuses. I've been going to school since 2002. I love to learn. I'm now 40. Have always been able to fit in a class or two. I now work full time again and will finish up a substance abuse counselor certificate. I have a bachelor's in health care IT and AA in Biological Sciences. It's tiring at times but if you want something, you'll make it happen.

Well if you guys say you apply to many jobs but nobody is hiring that’s probably because you guys are not applying as candy factory workers or factory workers where you take things out of the conveyor belt, stand and work for this amount of hours and do overtime. You guys are probably not applying to be dishwashers too. That’s why it is diffficult to get a job. When I was unemployed, I applied for cashier jobs and tougher jobs nobody wants. Don’t get me started I was a housekeeper for a Marriott hotel, and that was nasty and so tiresome. But it’s still a job.

I moved at the end of November 2022 and it took me a few weeks to get a job. However I had been looking for a job for at least 6 months before I moved. Companies are getting ready for a crash and are laying off people. I had 4 different Companies call back all their staff knowing that the younger group would rather quit than go back in the office. They love you because they don't have to pay unemployment . Nobody will be hiring unless it's a necessity. When billionaires bet against our economy especially Michael Burry who predicted the 2008 crash companies listen. This is a really bad time to make a move because usually low man gets axed first.

A.I. has trashed the job market.
I was laid off from my first 100k job last year when i was 27. I was given a 2 month severance. I didnt want to settle and i had enough savings to go for a while. Thankfully only 1 month out of pocket and got my current role. Its amazing! Went up to $115k, great benefits, fully remote, and hardly do 30hrs/week. If you're in a decent position when laid off, look for a better role in a set amount of time you give yourself before you have to settle.
The person at the end. So no internships, no networking? Did you really tell the recruiter you have no experience? Do you actually want a job or no? The recruiter isnt being rude, you need to be trained on how to interview properly. Dry your tears and boss tf up.

I know this all too well. I got caught in the rapture in 2009 and couldn’t find a job until 2010. A few employers later the pandemic happens and I got furloughed to never get reinstated. I saw an old co worker at a fast food restaurant and they told me they called up a few months ago to see what was going on with their old condition and the employer told them they could have came back sooner if they would have called months ago. I couldn’t believe they told her that. That pissed me off. Last time we spoke they said they would call everyone back if they needed them back. 🤬🤬🤬

HR and other back office work is, or will be, replaced by AI.
HR and other cost center departments have been growing like crazy in corporations; every year there are compliance training requirements that take the revenue generating employees away from their tasks, negatively impacting productivity.
HR, irrespective of the training and information they provide, works for the company, in the best interest of the company, not the employee. If you go to HR with a complaint, you will likely see your future options at the company limited.
HR is not your friend.
If you get laid off from a corporation, you will be dealing with HR. Do not trust them or believe they are your friend.
When I hear about HR layoffs, I'm not disappointed. I think maybe some revenue generating workers will be spared, yet companies don't scale back their HR initiatives. It's even worse with DIE workers, bureaucracies and lack of focus on merit.
I've worked in AI for decades, and to those AI workers who are working on AI HR projects, I salute you and thank you.

After busting my ass trying to find a job I finally l got hired cleaning my local food lion for 12.50 an hour part time. I have over twelve years experience with Security, 22 years customer service, and a few years as a supervisor at various jobs. I have never felt so hopeless. I am also a diabetic so most companies avoid people with disabilities. I can only hope the disability insurance comes through.
