Theyre cutting hours at work or sending people home earlier but so much work to be done before and after closing which is confusing. Aside from that i am investing and putting my money in HYSA that grows due to higher rates. These are for emergencies and spending money aside from just a typical paycheck to paycheck. It's too damn expensive nowadays. Some family members say why don't you get a higher paying job that has to do with what you 'studied' for. Um...where the hell is that? The first one is because the company does not want to have to pay their retirement or pay for their benefits along with the fact that companies are scared and they are holding back and yes they are letting people go they are figuring out that it is more lucrative for them to hire in the form of contract instead of hiring permanent And for what they're paying these people that are tenured they can actually hire 2 or 3 people at half the cost

Layoffs are tough on everyone. The lady right around 3 minutes in, sounds like her leadership was suddenly put in a tough position within hours of praising her. You were lumped into a savings cost adjustment for the company, and even if you ARE valuable and great - they cannot change what someone above them has decided. Its really tough to see that and see her so hurt by something completely out of her leaderships control. (Of course this is just speculation and an opinion)

I think a lot of jobs are afraid to higher ppl with degrees because the degree was used as an argument to get higher wages. And owners have the privilege of deciding wages, if they dont want to entertain someone who wants to ask for a wage increase. And on top of that they'll waste your time, energy, and gas money just to call you to an interview they have no intention of hiring for

No that was during the pandemic. Right now McDonald’s, Starbucks, Pizza Hut all are reporting massive downturn in sales. McDonald’s expressed concern low income households cannot even afford a cheap burger. They are all going to lay off thousands of workers & close hundreds of stores. Even Dollar Tree is going bankrupt. Macys, multitude of clothing stores. No one has disposable income anymore. This has all been reported in the mainstream media over the last 6 months
Fed Ex and UPS knew Christmas is their steak, potatoes bread and butter. They said whatever to get their workers back to work. Once Christmas deliveries ended they layoff 10% of the force then another 5%. When engineers, I.T techs and white collar jobs are layoff without notice. Its bad. Now Walmart, Target and other corporations we are not asking for degrees to hire people which mean we want to pay you $15-25 whether you have a GED or a Bachelor degree. Jobs are crunching down on employees worki g second or three jobs. They want you to do the work of two jobs but wont increase your salary or bonus.
For the first video, genuine question: how does finding a new job help if we don’t know who’s going to do the layoffs? If you leave a job that may not being doing layoffs for a job that shuts its doors the next day, that would suck! I think the safer bet would be to keep an updated resume and always keep a second side hustle. Not having your eggs all in one basket

They fire a girl at my job after she won the ugly sweater game… right before Christmas
They smile in your face knowing you will soon be getting fired laid off
When you have a job...just RADICALLY SAVE your money.
Stop spending. Only buy essentials.
So true
People should realize when you work for someone else you can be let go anytime. They don't owe you anything.
Lost my job in January still can’t find one and I just moved to a new place with my 3 year old. My manager waited EXACTLY for my 2 months probation knowing I just got a car for the job because mine blew up and she fired me to save her ass from the higher ups🤷🏾♀️
People need to understand that when they do malicious things, it will catch up to them at the worst possible time. She will pay for what she did to you.
Read some Psalms for your finances
So she was supposed to get fired and not have her bills paid to save you? That’s not how it works. People are going to save their own asses and take care of their families first as they should.. completely natural. It’s always been and always will be survival of the fittest, and none of us are immune or safe even only a business things can go south, but there is more insulation and control.. you would not have your family starve so somebody else’s family can eat. If you do, that wouldn’t make you a good provider or leader of your family.

I worked as a Business travel consultant for the past 5 years and I was just laid off Oct-2023 and since then I have applied for more than 600 jobs but yet no luck have only been surviving on my savings and my investment’s back in Nigeria. Guys it’s not funny out there now hold your jobs tight and you all start investing in something.
We are in a recession
Doesnt matter if youre in tech or not. Youre gonna get laid off. Im in tech and its not AI. Its the fact that interest rates are high, business loans and benefits are now incredibly spendy. Companies are budget cutting. Tech expanded the most for covid, theyre cutting first. Healthcare has also started to cut. Amazon, of course is cutting. They sell products no one is buying.
I switched into defense and im killing it because its very stable.
I got laid off about 5 weeks before Christmas. Still haven’t found another full time job. There are jobs available but the ones readily available means I’ll have to take an almost $7-$8 pay cut
You take the any job offered, work hard, and look for another job. I was out of work for almost a year and a half. I was working 30 hours a week doing night stock at a supermarket for 9.50 an hour. But I got two job offers a month after starting the night stock job.
I took a $5 pay cut. Was unemployed for 7 months. Thank goodness my family is set up to be able to survive off of one income. I took the pay cut. At least I’m helping bulk up our savings until I can find something better.
Because if it's true i want to know but so would the rest of the world.
I was laid off this past January the 31th. This situation is F**up!!
HR people actually know about it. They just have to keep it until that day.
I wonder if they can sleep well the day before and after laying a bunch of employee.
Yes, because their demons!
Half of these people voted for this, zero sympathy.
So how important is it to have a 3 to 6 months of emergency funds set aside to prepare for the event of a job loss.
I guess you’ll be able to at least buy food to live longer
It's looking like we need 6+ months of emergency funds now.

There is clearly 2 different economies in the US right now. Anyone with a house locked in before 2020 and no student debt and no day care bills is living a completely different reality than let’s say someone who’s 35 who signed a mortgage in like 2018 or so, and dosent have super young kids.
