I feel that single mom to the bottom of my soul. I come from the previous generation so I can vouch for the fact that times have absolutely changed to an untenable status. I can vouch for the trap that is government assistance. It took me a decade to find a way to make enough that I could pay for things and lose the assistance. I still qualify for those income restricted apartments, I pay 80% of the full amount of rent. So, I can say that compared to what people not in a program of some kind Im paying about $3-400 less than them. Though I make somewhere between 50k and 57k, Im still up shit creek without a paddle. Had I made this much 20 years ago I'd be doing damn good but now? No so much.😭
