  • The lasso guard works against any opponent - big or small, new or experienced - but sometimes our
training partner will either stall or keep a good base, making it difficult to sweep them. If this happens to
you, fear not, as in this video I’ll reveal 3 simple but effective lasso guard sweeps/submissions that will
work on bigger opponents with a heavy base.
Not only are these lasso guard techniques effective, but they’re extremely simple to apply during live
    training.
If you’re having trouble with opponents smashing your lasso guard, stalling, or keeping a good base,
these lasso guard techniques will no doubt get you the sweep or submission. BIG OSSS!

A 100% absolutely love that you teach in chain reactions, if this doesn’t work you can go to this, if that doesn’t work you can go to that. I wish every teacher training this way. Me learning one move whether it’s lasso guard, spider guard, whatever the guard whether it be Offensive/ Defense you must have a back up plan or know where to go next. 100% amazing instruction. New subscriber right here!

Well said! To the untrained more likely than not THE FIRST attack will work to the trained practitioner who seeing these attacks will force improvision so THE FIRST WILL NEED A SECOND ATTACK and this guy definitely helps with that tremendously. Its sort of an.......Ace In The Hole so to speak😆

I was unable to break the opponent's posture using the lasso guard. He was moving back grabbing my gi pant of the non-lasso leg. I will try these moves tomorrow. Thank you so much. BIG OSS

Thanks for these great lasso videos. Lasso is definitely my favorite open guard to play. The cannonball sweep has been my bread and butter for a while but all my training partners have gotten wise to it. I can’t wait to hit them with the stand up sweep from the beginning of this video tomorrow! BIG OSS!

Marcos!!!!! I got the first sweep in open mat today. My opponent did not expect it at all. Thank you. Also, probably the move that changed my game the most was the transitions from lasso to omoplata in general, and also the sweep when they stuff your leg and you then tip them over as they've buried their own arm. That happens all the time. Great stuff as always. Big OSS.

I learned the detail of keeping the lasso knee in line with your opponent's shoulder and your foot on their hip.
(I used to scoop the back of the shoulder with my foot for my deep lasso.)

Lasso is now my guard game I play. I just used it on my training partner yesterday, who is way bigger and stronger, and it helped me slow down his attacks. I couldn’t really get sweeps or submissions, yet, but I’m gonna stick with this techniques because it fits me perfectly. Thank you Coach! OSS!!!

Been doing the lasso sweep. Lasso their right arm, they move to my right, grab their left leg and sweep to my left. I end on side control.

I learned the underarm tilt from lasso so thank you so much. Question, what so you do when they bury their head in your opposite side and continue pressure so you can't tilt them? Great info....

I really like these, but I have a question - when you come up to your knee, it looks like the opponent is in perfect position to get a single leg takedown. What is stopping him from turning the move into his single leg takedown at that point ?

  • @maxphilipsson9073
    @maxphilipsson9073 2 года назад +2

Ok, the concept that really changed my lasso game was the knee on the shoulder connection and foot on the hip. This made the lasso really strong for me. Also the combo you just showed, how to provoce a reaction by going to the hand and knee. One question though, do you have a solution for when the guys dont go on the knees to kill the lasso but instead sits back into a deep squat with their legs close kind of like the Mendes bros move?
