This video contains information about elevations on the surface of tooth. There are some higher points on a tooth such as Cusps, Tubercle, Cingulum, Ridges, Lobes and Mamelons.
Cusp is an elevation on the occlusal surface of the posterior teeth and incisal surface of canines.
Tubercle is a smaller elevation on some portion of the crown produced by an extra formation of enamel.
Cingulum is a bulge on the lingual surface of incisors and canines.
Ridge is any linear flat elevation on the surface of the tooth and is named according to its shape and location. According to its location ridge is of following types-
Marginal ridge
Labial ridge
Buccal ridge
Lingual ridge
Incisal ridge
Cervical ridge
According to its shape ridge is of following types-
Triangular ridge
Transverse ridge
Oblique ridge
Dental lobe is one of the primary centres of growth and calcification present during the crown development.
Mamelons are protrusions seen on the incisal ridge of newly erupted incisors.
