Well...that was an experience. Hypnotizing music and video, once it started I couldn't pause it. Beautiful score indeed. Wonderful brilliant mind this one has.

Really enjoyed this piece. Strains of influence from Sofia Gubaidulina, Krzystof Penderecki and Toru Takimetsu seem to permeate this piece, with the focus of the dizi tying it all together nicely. Thanks for posting this.

His name is better written as Jian'er or Jian-er, as the apostrophe or the hyphen clarifies the separation of syllables.
I can give you a cleaner copy of all Zhu Jian'er's symphonies and orchestral works. No need to engrave by yourself!
I did Zhu Jian'er's Sinfonietta quite early, but no one seems cared...

Oh man, that would be amazing! I was actually thinking his Festival Overture was more appropriate for the New Year, but I couldn't find the score. Who else do you have scores of?
I thought the apostrophe was unnecessary since ner is not a possible syllable, but I realize now it could be read as ji-an-er, I guess. Thanks.

@@Cmaj7 How about Rebecca Saunder's Fury II and Still? I also have a few scores of Elliot Carter, György Ligeti, Luciano Berio, Rebecca Saunders, Toru Takemitsu, Qigang Chen, Wang Xilin, etc.. Zhu Jian'er was amazing because he published collections of all his works in his lifetime. 3 books of symphonies, 4 books of orchestral works, and several books of his other works, including piano and chamber works (of which I don't have the scanned pdf's). How about doing Wang Xilin's symphonies? I'm looking forward to that.
It's true that "ner" is not a valid syllable, but Chinese Pinyin orthography still calls for an apostrophe. I think that's because it's common to have a consonant at the beginning of a syllable rather than a consonant at the ending of the previous syllable and no consonant at the beginning of the next one. The same way goes "Tian'anmen" instead of "Tiananmen", even if "tia" is not a valid syllable. See pinyin.info/romanization/hanyu/apostrophes.html

@@XinhaoZheng Wow, I had not discovered Wang Xilin or Rebecca Saunders yet. I'd gladly do their pieces after listening to them. Do you have Qigang Chen's Enchantements oubliées by the way? I've wanted to do that piece for a long time. You can find my email on my channel page. I'll happily get anything you send me.

I felt that the natural decline, animals, and atmosphere were going wild with the sound of Dizi, depicting the scene with music.
This is not Western music, but I think it is art based on sound.

Well, this is the authentic Zhu. No Western stuff; strictly Chinese. Very impressive. A truly Classical Chinese style worth investigating.

I guess classical music is as unpopular in China as it is in America. This video has only been viewed 8,000 times and there are 1.4 billion Chinese.
