This is exactly the type of video I was looking for to get an idea of the Z30s potential most channels did reviews with the base kit lens and really only look at its vlogging features. But this camera is more than that. Thanks
Great morning and some pretty stunning images I'd say. I do find those screens a bit hard to see in the sunlight...but it could be these old eyes of mine too! lol Have yourself a fantastic week!!
The Z30 default screen brightness is not good in bright sunlight, but I turn it up to 5 and these old eyes have no issues seeing the screen on a sunny day.
A great challenge Robert and you managed some good images with that set up ! Will you use the Z30 handheld or on a gimbal for footage? Schoolboy errors always the curse , if it's not firmware it's batteries or SD cards !! All the best and take care - see you on the 13th - no wait the 27th ;)
Cheers Andrew. We have a gimbal, but it's about 4 times the size of the camera, so we don't often take it. We'll just be using lenses with VR I think - and it does also have an electronic VR mode too, if we really need it. Yep, 27th now - calendar error! 😄
Enjoyed this video, Robert. I picked up a refurbished Z30 directly from Nikon last week for $439. It had 1 shutter actuation! I have the Z50, too, but want separate cameras for stills and video, though of course this isn't a hard and fast rule. Like you, I have a D500, where my 300mm PF normally resides. I have no interest in going full frame. Lately I've been photographing flowers with the Z50 and 50-250mm lens, with amazing results. Though I have Nikon's 105mm and 40mm F-mount macros, they're not necessary for flowers, and I forgot how sharp the 50-250mm is. I think your bird shots with the Z30 are fantastic. This camera is not only compact but cool looking, and the audio straight out of the camera is surprisingly good. Based on your video, I'm sure I'll try it for birds.
@@Robert-Bishop The Z30 has focus enhancements, especially in video, and other small but noticeable enhancements like the tally light. Of course, there's the flippy screen. The lack of a viewfinder is an adjustment for a photographer like me but I want to try shooting in a more casual way, not necessarily at eye level, and it forces me to do so. Another advantage is having the 50-250mm on one camera, the 16-50mm on the other, and a third on my D500 (right now the 105mm F-mount macro). Do you think Nikon will come out with a new flagship DX Z camera before the end of the year? I have no interest in full-frame. For example, yesterday I was bushwhacking with the Z30 and 16-50mm in the woods near my home, which is in bear country, though I live only 75 miles from NYC. Lugging full-frame equipment around is too depressing to even imagine. My 3-camera DX setup is a winning combo. I consider all three professional cameras, and I do sell photos every day through Getty Images. I have a fourth amateur DX -- the D3200 -- which I no longer use, but it looks good on my camera worktable with a lens mounted on it. A prop! Thanks for your reply, keep shooting stills, and keep making RUclips videos.
Thanks for the info. I would love a flagship DX Z camera. An equivalent to the D500, like a mini Z8 would be great. Who knows though, Nikon seem to be prioritizing FF at the moment.
Does the standard lens got a good zoom,i mean i dont wanna pay for another lens. Maybe a bridge camera will be better ,Canon powershot sx70 ,what do you think ? 😮
It's usually bundled with a 16-50 compact zoom lens. It depends what subjects you want to capture - if it's anything at distance I would suggest something else. The 18-140 or 50-250 would be more versatile for example. I only use Nikon, so can't help with the other brands I'm afraid. I hope you find something that suits your needs. 😊
I use a Z7 and Z30 which is used as a backup/ small carry around. Never been brave enough to use it for bird photography so well done for getting such great shots. I keep forgetting it hasn't got a viewfinder and end up missing the shot. Great little camera though. Out of respect I replaced stupid with brave 😊
Thanks Alan - yeah, the one benefit of not having the viewfinder is how easy it is to slip it into a pocket and carry around. As they say, the best camera is the one you have with you!
Hi, I also have this camera, but I was having hard time how to setup the back button for af-l only. I tried watching other videos how to set it up but still doing ae-l not af-l.😢
Always dangerous territory buying a camera that does both video and stills. I have done this a couple of times now 😂. Sad news on the zv1 but the Nikon looks like it gives great results, I hope the video is as good as the stills. The buzzard shot was great considering this was released as a vlogging camera. (PS those swans were geese).
Haha, I know. I only realised when Andrea was watching it last night. I'd not had a coffee by that point! 😄 The ZV-1 just seems to have become hyper sensitive to light - it blows out in even a small amount of it - even at narrow apertures with the ND on. 🤷🏼♂️ Thanks for watching.
I haven't used the ZV-E10, but I've used the ZV-1 which is very similar, except for having interchangeable lenses. They both have positives and negatives. The Sony is smaller and has better sound recording capabilities. The Nikon is easier to use with better button layout and I think has the better video, although others might prefer how the Sony video looks. Also, my ZV-1 started to develop problems after a couple of years - I'll have to see how the Z-30 performs going forward.
Once again nice video Robert, that looks like a great lens and the camera performed to the best results it could. I am very pleased with Nikon Z6 and just testing the Z24-200mm Nikon lens which I think is great. 🐕👍

Great, glad to hear it. Certainly possible to get good results with it. Thanks for watching. 😊
same here!

No, not just you Bruce, I think they're not bright enough to compete with really sunny conditions. Thanks for watching, have a good one. 😊
@@Robert-Bishop I didn't find any issue in very bright condition

Great stuff bro, always watch and support your content..as you know
It's much appreciated too, cheers mate. 😊
Thanks for your input. My mind is set on the z30. i need it for portraiture and for general photography.
Great. I think it's a very capable camera for most applications, hopefully it works well for you. 😊
Lovely❤️ i'm thinking about getting this little camera for nature photography 🙈
Great - I hope you get some good results. Thanks for watching. 😊

Good to hear Rob. Do you feel that the Z50 is the same as the Z-30, but with a viewfinder. Or do you notice other differences?

Teleconverter work with dx body? Can u share the one u use?
Yeah, works fine. I was using the Nikon TC-14E II. Thanks for watching. 😊
This pictures after edits or original sir
I shoot in RAW and edit (usually) in Lightroom. Thanks for watching. 😊
Which lance ?..
Do you mean the lens? It's the Nikkor 300mm F4 PF. 😊
