So my husband wanted to be a Marine Pilot, but his eyesight wasn't good enough. One of the last things he did before he retired was design the boards that ran the displays for the F15 cockpit. So one day they brought in the flight simulator that used his boards to run the simulator displays. Imagine his joy when this 65 year old man got to "fly" an F15. He talked about it for weeks. It was a major highlight of his computer designing career.

Serving ones country takes a special type of person. If he takes this path, there will be struggles and stumbles but, when he gets through them and HE WILL.. the light he feels is something that can't be diminished! I watched my son grow so much over his choice of joining the service and with that I will tell you, you will grow too!

According to my family of Air Force, it is a wonderful career and you won't be sorry for joining. My husband is retired Air Force and was a Flight Engineer; my stepson is currently in the Air Force & is stationed in Destin, FL; my brother-in-law is a retired Colonel; my nephew joined the AF ROTC in college and went into the Air Force as an officer and is stationed in Georgia. My son-in-law did the same thing, except is now a Lt. Colonel in the Air National Guard. Loved this video and will have to show it to the hubby.

Loved the trip thru Randolph AFB and the flying lessons you guys did. About your refrigerator. Refrigerators located in slideouts will have more cooling problems than a refrigerator with a roof vent. I installed an ARP unit over a year ago and it has tripped once. I bought the ARP as an insurance against possible fires caused when the ref boiler gets too hot. The ARP will cycle the ref on and off a couple times to let the boiler cool down before shutting down the ref in a safe mode. The ARP does have an optional fan that helps blow air up the back of the refrigerator and out the cooling top vent. I understand getting the air to flow out the top side vent is kinda of an art to get the air to flow over the top fins in the top of your refrigerator. Look on youtube for how to get the air to flow right.
For your water connection, I installed a 45 degree brass connector and left it installed on the trailer's water connector. I connected the hose to the 45 degree connector so I don't use the trailer connector.

How exciting. Good luck to Carter! You did a great job. Can't wait to hear when he is accepted into the Air Force. Many memories at Randolph as we were stationed there. I attended elementary school on Randolph and my brother graduated from the high school in the mid 70's. The O'Club & the pool (which I lived right across the street from)the flight line snack bar and keepimg my horse at the stable...I could go on and on. My father was a A.F. pilot and trained at Randolph in the late 40's. Go Air Force!

Being a Retired US Navy Petty Officer who was in the Aviation side of the Navy. Anyway, I was stationed at NAS Corpus Christi and NAS Beeville in South Texas. My Uncle got his wings at Randolph back in the 50's. My grandfather was in the Army Air Corp, then US Air Force. He was killied the 3rd day of the Korean War. My dad was in the Army, stationed in Tokyo at Generals Headquarters Far East Command during the Korean War. That is where my parents met. My Grandfather was the head of airlift transportation for General MacArthur.
Anyway, to make a long story short, I had to make several trips to San Antonio to Randolph, Lackland, and Kelly Field during my time in South Texas. Those bases hold onto my heart as well as Corpus Christi, Beeville, and Kingsville.

My stepson joined CAP and spent his junior and senior years of high school in Air Force ROTC. He started flight training with the Cessna 180 (full glass cockpit) in December of 2011 and received his Private Pilot 5 days after graduating high school in May of 2012. He started Louisiana Tech University in the summer of 2012 and over the next 2 1/2 years got his degree in Professional Aviation. He spent 2 years teaching other students to fly and then was hired by SkyWest Air in the spring of 2018. Aviation is MOST DEFINITELY an obtainable goal... and it gets the kids off of the Bank of Dad.

Visit the sun n'fun in Lakeland, Florida. Rvers galore every April. 2nd largest airshow in the country. Blue angels and Thunderbirds rotate every year, but we always get one or the other. Also many educational opportunities out there for those looking to get into aviation. One of the big schools is Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Just a FYI.

I use the elbow mentioned below, and then hose quick-connects - it makes it a lot easier!

When I was in the Marine Corps, I was a maintainer for the KC-130J and had the chance to fly the simulator once. I crashed multiple times, so dont feel too bad Trish.

    T6 Super Tacano.
Way too go guys on your simulator. Trisha, stick to being a great person just don't pilot a plane. 😁
2019 looks like a great year for the KYD groupies, keep up the great videos and keep the rubber on the road.

Enjoyed the visit to the AFB. Great simulators. Leave it to the Zoomies to have the tech. The AF would be a great career. I like how supportive you are as a family. Sorry about the fridge. Hate when you do your fix and it doesn’t work. Sure it wasn’t cheap either.

The boys are getting tall! Time for them to start rowing. Maybe that could be one of your stops in one of your destinations. Learn to row programs all across the United States! KYD 154 - Fantastic episode! Unique, interesting and another bucket list item for the books. Really looking forward to Season 7! T-shirt is ordered and ready for our trek through BC this summer!

What a fun video, especially since I was a T-38 instructor pilot at Webb AFB where I got my wings in class 68F, and I went to Randolph for a ground instructor class. Our simulators had no outside visual; didn't see those until starting to fly with Delta in 1972. Simulators now save time, money and lives! You will always cherish a tour in the USAF! Now, about washing Ginger.... :)

On your wet bay, get a brass 90 degree elbow and some hose quick disconnects (works like an air hose). They wear out after a year or so, but they make connecting and disconnecting very easy. No more screwing...

My uncle used to be the commander of the training squadron at Randolph in the mid 2000s. Make sure when you visit Alabama you stop at Maxwell AFB in Montgomery because that's where the officer training happens! Civil Air Patrol is also headquarted there. If Carson can't get into the Air Force Academy, The University of Alabama has an incredible AF-ROTC program and an aerospace engineering major with close proximity to Columbus AFB in Mississippi, where there's also a pilot training program.

Another great video. The tour of the AFB was super cool. My son was in the Navy for 6 years as an intelligence specialist. He traveled all over the world. If he had advice for Carson it would be go to the Air Force. They treat their people the best.

Great video again. I took a boss lift to Texas once. We visited 5 bases. Tons of fun. When they heard I was a helicopter pilot, they had me fly a C-5 simulator. That was awesome. I also had 2 friends kids go through Air Force Academy. I highly recommend it if Carson can get in.

We just had that same road conversation! 18-wheeler behind us flashing lights - we pull over, but find nothing???? Maybe we were just too slow? hahaha... I still don't know! Maybe we should all have flash cards???? That would make it easier! RV flash cards!
