    ℹ️About the episode:
Somewhere in Alaska, a few subscribers suggested that we get the Ford F450. Then the joke was made, if Marc gets the F450 then Trish gets a dog... it was fun to keep the joke alive, but it proves that what we think about most shows up in our life.
The 2019 Ford F450 is our dream truck. The wide track front axle not only provides a tighter turning radius but gives the truck an aggressive look and balances the wide backend. This episode was a lot of fun to share, but we're even more excited about what we're going to learn that we can pass onto you. Join us in the next episode to see what monster this F450 will be pulling!
We mentioned in the last episode the idea of changing rigs more often, possibly even per season if it's sustainable. With the boys getting bigger and Carson going off to school in August, this is our window to go big. Plus, our Season 7 route is mostly Interstate driving with few National Parks.

We mentioned our first aid kit in this video amzn.to/2EOvFQn
There were a few other comments in the video that were edited out due to time that I'm able to include here.
We intentionally keep our first aid kit in the truck. If we had a motorized RV with a towable vehicle, we'd keep it in the tow vehicle. The point being is... our truck is always with us and our trailer is not.
Last summer Caleb was microwaving hot teriyaki sauce in a plastic bowl. As he was removing the bowl from the microwave, he flinched from the hot bowl spilling the sauce on his hand. It resulted in a third-degree burn (and excuse the graphic description), his skin melted off his hand. I quickly went to the truck to see if there was burn treatment in the kit listed above and sure enough there was a burn gel pad. We applied it within seconds and then went to the emergency room. One month later there was no scare to be seen. Even our doctor was impressed with how it healed and complimented our quick action and having the right treatment on hand. Had this happened in Alaska, there would be no emergency room for hundreds of miles.
As stated in the video, the chances of coming across a traveling nurse, EMT or medical profession is very likely. It's important to have the tools they need to help you. Yes, this first responders kit is more than average, but it's an essential item in our RV gear. If you don't buy this one, take the time to evaluate your first aid kit and purchase the missing items.

As a Family Nurse Practitioner, I endorse having a quality first aid kit for the reasons you mention. You never know when it will come in handy. One suggestion would be to check it periodically for expired products that need to be replaced. Love your videos! We are hopeful about making our dreams a reality one day.

Keep Your Daydream As a retired wound care nurse I keep 4 different first aid kits in my truck. I have some other duplicates in my trailer as well. If i need to respond to a fellow camper and they are fully stocked, that’s bonus. I have learned though to stock it myself. Some of the bandaids in premade kits are horrible.

You are right about carrying tools you can't use. I'm a 72 year old solo female and two years ago had a blowout on the 5er on an interstate. The AAA tow truck driver had everything except the right size socket for the lug nuts. I KNEW that socket was so important, I kept it in the silverware drawer and handed it to him in less than 30 seconds after he said he had to go into town to get the right size socket. My RV mentor a few years before that had told me to buy that special size and keep it because he knew my wheels required an odd size!

I did all this rationalization between the two (350-450) and the numbers pointed to the 350. 350 and 450 towing capacity are so close...the 350 payload is higher......the cost favors the 350.....options favors 350.....the 450 with most insurance companies rate you at the commercial vehicle level etc etc. 450 you get the better turning radius 🤷🏻‍♂️.
Having said that....when paying 70-80k on a truck.....at the end of the day, get the truck that makes you happy. You can’t go wrong with either F350 or F450. Best trucks on the road!

Speaking of tools, an engine-driven (York) air compressor and Viair air tank are two of the best mods I’ve done to my Jeep.
Not only does it make airing up large tires a snap, it’s more than a little cool to be able to break out the air tools (like an impact wrench) on the side of the trail/road.

A reblance by the dealer might solve the issue or the tires could have been flat spotting from sitting. It might go away on a long hot drive. Also, new vehicle often come with whatever tires the manufacturer could get the best deal on. Hopefully its not the latter.

I watched this a few months ago - and I'm so glad I did before my wife and I went test driving last Saturday. My daily car is a VW GTI - ie small and a 'sporty' ride. The first truck we tried was a 1 ton GMC DRW long bed. Took away three observations. First, ride is comparable to my GTI. Second, it takes a couple of lanes to turn it. Third, it is was a beast, fully capable of pulling almost every rig I might look at. We then drove a 2020 F450 DRW LB. OMG! Three observations - OMG it is a wicked cool truck, it's ride is rougher than my GTI and it feels like it can turn circles around the 350/3500. I really could see/feel the benefit of the 450 turning radius.

Bought my '19 F-250 spending 20 minutes in the dealership. Negotiated all rebates and pricing with the internet sales dept. Just needed to sign paperwork when I got to the dealer. Got an amazing deal with no pressure. I've bought many cars over the last 20+ years and I am a tough negotiator but I will never sit in a dealer office playing that game again now that most dealerships have internet sales departments who are competent.

Good for you Marc...you'll love the truck...and 450 HP, should pull with ease, when in the mountain country of U.S & Canada! You may remember from our 'meet up' in Vancouver, my F450 King Ranch, and yes the turning radius is superb! It just comes in handy so darn often, and any vibration you've felt may be from the rear lug tires, and yes...less flex than the smaller tire sizes, but more flexing. Once you get hooked up, the ride should settle in quite nicely. I also added airbags to my F450 for the additional ability in raising/lowering the rear. One thing you should do is check out what we call 'the pumpkin' (rear differential carrier) and see the size of it, compared to your F250...it will be nice to see Marc's 'add-on's' coming up in the next season or two on the truck! Look forward to seeing the whole rig all set up, and your reviews in upcoming video's! Cheers to you both, and happy travels to you all!

    • @deltabravo1257
      @deltabravo1257 5 лет назад +2

Oh Yeah, that reminds me.... AutoNation in Spokane, WA crashed my dually fender in to the shop door, fixed the damage and when I discovered the repair, they denied EVERYTHING! I took it all the way to headquarters, and made them replace the side of the truck bed.

WOW, that U-turn at 10:35 was amazing..... I could have just barely made that same turn in my daily driver (Subaru Crosstrek).
Loved this video.... I laughed quite a few items, and had to replay the banana eating. When you found the banana, I was sure you were pulling out a pair of Caleb's shoes, since it seems he loses them occasionally. LOL

We have a 2017 model. The tires need to break in. It will follow cracks in the road something fierce. Mine broke in around 5000 miles. We tow a Mobile Suites Lexington. 26k loaded. Pulls like a champ and the ride really smooths out when towing. Can't beat the turning radius for placing the house in sites!! Congrats.

Congratulations on upgrading. You got the right color. I own a detailing shop and the best thing I ever did for my sanity was get rid of my black SUV's and get a silver and gold one. Less washing, less swirls when you do. Those guys brushing your F250 with big rig brushes must have left their signature.

New truck new rig, who cares, I want to see the new Dog. 😃 love the throwback segments. Also I couldn’t stop laughing at Marc on the test drive and he was disappointed in he shaking. Personally I would have gone with the 350 due to the cab comforts. But I am guessing you got a 5th wheel so the turning radius is a really big thing. Congrats 🎉

Beautiful truck! Very exciting to be getting into a new rig. Can’t wait to see what you got - and, especially can’t wait for the new addition to the family - a puppy ❤️🤗👍! I’m watching Season Seven sequentially as it unrolls but I am also watching any other KYD videos that pop into my feed - so i am bouncing all around in your trips, sometimes watching a segment a second time. Love your videos and I am getting lots of vicarious travel pleasure while learning so much about RV life. Wish I had known about you during our RV time.

Beautiful Truck congratulations can’t wait to see the new camper and the new member of the family 🐶 I know there’s more freedom when you don’t have a pet to worry about but I know a large part of why we bought are Fifth wheel was so we could take the puppy with us. I loved your videos with Maddie. I’m sure others did too it’s part of what got me hooked on Keep Your Daydream. As always loved the video 👍

Love your new truck guys! My 2003 F-150 Lariat Crew Cab came from Bartow Ford. Big Truck Big RV was my introduction to the 450. The video’s thumbnail was a picture of his ruby red metallic trucks front end, and it looked completely awesome with the wider front axle and the profile of the truck. That’s when I learned that ford had been producing the 450 in a pickup truck body, and that it was a very unique truck. I’ve been in love with the 450’s ever since! Congrats on your dream truck! It’s been my dream truck from the first time I saw one.

We're not 100% sure it will work yet. The best case is a diesel truck and towable RV. If/when we do Class A/C, we'll have to buy used... due to that pesky odometer.

    • @xReaperx5

Honestly the best deals are on lightly used vehicles/rv’s. Just this past year my wife and I purchased a Kodiak ultimate.... very nice for our price range..... but man did we see an absolutely amazing travel trailer made by outback that had a kitchen with a full bar and a hood that would be suitable for a restaurant kitchen! Needless to say it wasn’t in our price range but I can absolutely see you guys in a model of that stature! Did I mention double refrigerators. Anyways it’s very exciting to my wife and I to see some of those layouts and if you guys did somehow pull off a rig change that often you can absolutely expect a guaranteed view from us!!!

Congrats you guys. Although for me your channel has just jumped the shark. You started with a relatable family camping experience using the family truck and just enough trailer to get you going. While I understand its more comfortable for you guys, for me, the entire draw of this channel was watching you deal with the difficulties associated with NOT having the perfect equipment, upgrading what you had and working within a realistic budget. For me, you reached the end goal.

Something I’ve found to be priceless to carry pertaining to tools would be the Milwaukee impact gun. Makes roadside repairs so much faster which means less exposure to crazy drivers. Also allows you to help someone change a flat in a few short minutes when you combine the cordless impact with the bottle jack

That's probably 70-80k worth of truck. I'd never put that kinda money in a truck, purely out of stubbornness and defiance. Trucks used to be all about work, and were half the price of the cheapest sedan, now they're all about luxury and are twice or three times the cost of the most expensive sedan. For them it makes sense though; the truck, and if they get a fifth wheel, would be the cost equivalent of an average house. I just couldn't do it, I'd feel like I was contributing to the insanity of the modern truck concept.

Congratulations on your new truck! You now have just about the unlimited power to buy any Fifth Wheel your hearts desires 👍
Looking at your faces, at the dealer, brought me right back to when I was buying my first dually and yes! It’s a hard days work. Right now you are driving, truck only. Can’t wait to see your face when you will be pulling, loaded, and pick up speed to merge for the first time on a highway. You will be flabbergasted! Just can’t wait 😊
